I met and knew Mr. Bulger when i was a kid. From the age of 11 up until i was 15 i seen and spoke with him a bit. Never knew what he did but he was always wicked cool to the neighborhood kids. He would always give us a few bucks to go get the newspaper for him. My brother and i would shovel snow for him, not sure if it was his actual house or a property he owned but he would buy us hot chocolates. I do remember him always having a handgun on his person, as a kid in the 80’s you found that fascinating...at least my brother and i did 🤣
Among his belongings was a photo of himself as a tourist at Alcatraz. I bet he got a kick out if visiting a prison as a wanted man and as a tourist in a place he once served time.
Excellent vlog as usual! That building at the end with the exterior “bullet” elevator is the Huntley Hotel. The reason it looks old and yet futuristic is because it was built in the mid-1960’s but used architectural motifs of an earlier, more romantic period of LA style.
@@johnnyblockchain4238 Is it a nice hotel? I was in Santa Monica just long enough to attend a wedding so I didn’t get to look around. Stayed in Santa Barbara on that trip - lovely town.
Excellent report about Whitey Bulger's time on the lam in Santa Monica. I lived in Southie when Whitey ruled that area. He was rarely spotted then except occasionally when taking walks around Castle Island, at Triple O's (which had an old but mint disc shuffle bowling machine with fresh sawdust) or sitting in a fold up lawn chair in front of his South Boston Liquor Mart. Back then you could enter one of his "private clubs" (really just hole in the wall dives), buy a cold can of beer, play a slot machine, cards and make a bet on any horse running in the US or any sporting event. The lines were fair and they always paid if you won. There was even a local public bar on a side street off E. Broadway (run by a one-armed man) that had a large chalk board over the bar listing horse races around the country for patrons (in the know) to bet on.
Totally makes sense he'd be living near 3rd St Promenade. Heavily populated and touristy. He'd blend right in unnoticed. A crime boss from the east coast would be the last thing on peoples mind in that part of sunny California.
I guess Im asking randomly but does anyone know of a way to get back into an instagram account?? I somehow lost my login password. I would appreciate any assistance you can give me!
@Kylen Junior Thanks for your reply. I found the site on google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Seems to take a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
It really is amazing to think of who you could be living next to and have no idea. I wonder if the people living in that apartment now know about him. He was a bad man but he had caring side obviously with his wife, dog and then helping out Clarence Carnes. His story is certainly interesting. Thanks for showing us where he lived.
As someone who was born and raised in Massachusetts growing up I was familiar with the story but I never actually seen where he was living when they finally caught him. Thanks for posting this.
Hi Jordan, a lot of people really don't speak to their neighbors sadly nowadays, and it's true what they say, you really don't know who your living next too. Well, it looks a real nice neighborhood. Great that the Jahster had a day by the beach. Great vlog Jordan.
This one hits home... I walked by Whitney Bulger’s place nearly everyday after doing the stairs for seven years . I had an older lady compliment me on my Australian Shepherd-petting my her. one day while her old man watched near by. My imagination likes to think it was Whitey and his old lady.
I know many people who have kept the same apartment in Santa Monica for 40 + years due to the incredibly low rents. Still in 3 figures in 2021. Right next to the beach.
@@TheKitchenerLeslie Woulda been nice if the Boomers had had ANY forethought regarding literally anything other than their social security. They enjoyed so many freedoms yet call my generation entitled because we want the same opportunities. Fun!
Whitey bulger was killed at the federal pen 30 miles from where I lived. The place is called Hazelton prison in Preston county West Virginia. I remember when they said he was being transferred here. Then not very long after he was murdered.
I too live in West Virginia (Jackson County) and remember when they said he was being transferred here as well. I remember telling my husband, "Watch and see, he's not long for this life" simply because he was known in the end as a snitch and because he had hurt/torn apart so many lives. And, sure enough, that's exactly what happened too. May all of his victims RIP and their families find peace and joy in their lives once again. Prayers to all of them!
They caught Whitey living in my hometown! I actually met someone who lived in the same building and he gave me the rundown of what it was like the day they arrested Whitey. Undercover police were knocking on the doors and telling everyone to just stay inside till they get word the coast is clear because they had a dangerous suspect in the area. They had no idea it was Whitey and that he was living in their building all those years. This guy told me it was just unreal and they were all stunned for weeks afterwards. We're talking about the Bin Ladin of mobsters. A gruesome, dangerous, crooked superthug.
Such a great amount of information. The view of the beach was simply amazing. Little Jahster all handsome in his red and black harness as always. Thanks for another great vlog.

A Fantastic job! Wow that's just awesome Jordan & Jah! The guy hides there for 14 years and no one knew! That's hard time.imagin always waiting to get cought, life of violence ending the same! A beautiful job Jordan Luv&Peace Cheers!
It would be a lot easier to hide out in a well populated area than in a small town. People have nothing better to do in a small town so they are constantly in your business. In a well populated city, you can effectively blend in and hide in plain site.
I live in Tulsa, OK, and WB was behind the murder of Roger Wheeler at Southern Hills CC after a round of golf. It was a BIG deal here. Mr. Wheelers children were teenagers at the time.
My stomach turned when you said how he was beaten in jail! Is it worth the money, living as a hermit in an apartment day in and out, is just like a prison. despite the beach being close, never going? The area is so beautiful though!

My Dad was a politician who was acquainted with his brother, the then-President of the Massachusetts senate. The power the two of them had was such that my Dad, who belonged to the opposing political party, put Billy Bulger's annual Christmas card on the fireplace mantle. I said to him, "Why are you doing that if you are not of his party?" and he replied, "This card means I am in Billy's good graces so it is staying on the mantle." Then he told me about his brother, Whitey. Years later I was commuting daily into Boston on the train and reading the headlines in the paper about the bodies they were digging up. Poor souls - glad he was caught finally. (By the "two of them"-I mean the two brothers. Immense power.) It is incredible.
I lived in South Boston on O'Callaghan Way in the Old Harbor Housing projects during the late 70s. I lived with my sister and brother in law at the time. I found out a couple of years ago that we lived a few doors down from this guy. Had no idea at the time. I was just a high school student and wasn't aware of much going on around me at the time that didn't involve school and boys and rock and roll.

I had no idea Palisades Park was located in California! I always thought it was located on the east coast cuz that's the impression I get every time I hear the song by the same name.
Look at the incredible level of paranoia that comes with that kind of life. And yet he sort of gave in to going to prison, when he HAD to know what was in store for him in prison.

Hey Jordan great vlog as always, watching you from Oklahoma. I had read a FBI most wanted book from the library a few years back and I remember there was a chapter about Whitey Bulger in it. But other than that I didn't know much about him. I wonder why he picked such a populated city to hide out in? Like you said you would thing he would have been out in the middle of nowhere off to himself. I guess he thought that it would be harder to find him in a populated town
An interesting point you made stating a former neighbor that moved to "Iceland" made contact with the FBI in the states makes you wonder about her relationship and her willingness to call from another country with a hunch that his wife was the person they were looking for.

Always outdoing yourself J. You really beat your ass on this one,lol
Thanks! Interesting Vid!
