Thank you for this excellent overview. I’m painting a primitive style Hutch with Graphite. Love the color. I then did a 2:1 water/cocoa paint wash. It came out terrible. Looked like old school chalkboard with the chalking streaking. I repainted in the solid Graphite, its a rich beautiful color. I think my piece is all flat surfaces no
nooks crannies embellishing to absorb wash and break it up. Agree that stirring paint a dab of wet brush vs water added to paint is best. I need a2nd coat because Ididn’t do this and uneven coverage now shows through. The Sloan brushes are a Must! ??Where did you get the buffing brush? Is it a shoe polish brush? Tks👍

You can order the buffing brush from CodaArtisans.com It’s similar to a shoe brush but won’t scratch your surface.

How long to wait for first coat of wax to dry before apply second coat of wax? I'm painting an old wardrobe closet, in which doors & cabinet sides won't get a lot of wear. Are 2 coats of wax necessary? Thank you!

Susan Jurisic the reason i recommend two coats of wax is to make sure your wax has absorbed evenly. It isn’t to add more wax-just a nice fully absorbed even coat. The second coat will go on twice as fast and use 1/2 as much wax.

Great tutorial -- Question -- I am doing a table -- should I use clear wax first and then the white wax -- or will the white wax be sufficient for top of table

If it’s a side table or something else more decorative just use the white wax and it is sufficient on its own. You want the white wax to bite into it in order to have it show enough. The more texture in your paint the more it will show up.
Now if it’s a kitchen table you’ll be using and washing daily i don’t recommend any colored wax. Instead you can do a whitewash using any of our white paints mixed with a bit of water (i have another video that shows how i recommend doing a wash in more detail) and once that is dry seal it all in with 2-3 thin coats of clear wax for maximum durability and to keep the white patina perfectly in place.
