Ronnie Barker was never in Sorry, that was a vehicle for Ronnie Corbett. Also, it actually started in 1981, not the late 1980s, and ran from 1981-82, and then 1985-1988. They didn't break up, they just decided to do their own things, although they occasionally reunited.
I'm a fan of both Ronnies and watched their respective TV shows like "Sorry" (Corbett) and "Open All Hours", "Porridge", and "Going Straight" (Barker). If I had to pick one over the other I'd go with Ronnie Barker. I just loved his Arkwright character.

I don't know where you did your research, but a lot of it is wrong. As someone who followed their careers, and The Two Ronnies series especially, I can say with confidence that Ronnie Barker did not leave The Two Ronnies to pursue other interests - he was ordered to stop working by his doctor or it would kill him. That is common knowledge, much reported at the time. Nor did he appear in the sitcom "Sorry" with Ronnie Corbett. All of the sitcoms "Sorry", "Porridge", "Going Straight" and "Open All Hours" were made DURING the same period of The Two Ronnies as separate projects with no input from the other Ronnie. They never appeared as The Two Ronnies outside the television series (except once for a very brief surprise appearance at the Royal Variety Show).

Also when Porridge and Open All Hours are mentioned it makes it sound like these two Ronnie Barker series were made AFTER The Two Ronnies when again it wasn't.
Ronnie Corbett was my favourite, always clever, poignantly turning his lack of height into a joke against himself - getting advantage from it in a brave way,

"The Two Ronnies Broke up Immediately After He Did This" Long story short...they broke up immediately after Ronnie Barker retired plus Ronnie Barker had no connection with "Sorry", which actually ran from 1981 to 1988, he didn't write for, produce, or appear in the series. This was purely a vehicle for Ronnie Corbett. Also, Barker didn't retire to write produce, direct or star in Porridge and Open All Hours, these both ran through the 1970s and 1980s and had both finished long before he retired.. He retired to run an antiques shop in Chipping Norton. Finally, he wrote "It's Hello From Him", his autobiography before he retired. It was published in November 1988.

The old style good comedians didn't need the obscenities of Connolly and others. Watch Morecombe and Wise and the animals in the cardboard box sketch with Roy Castle.

Loved both equally, you don't get comedy like that anymore.
They where all my favourites Ronnie barker. Ronnie Corbett. David Jason. Nicholas Lyndhurst. John Challis. Eric Morecambe and Ernie Wise. They all brought great comedy television 📺 over the years. So I think it’s a bit unfair to say who was the favourite. Now I am even thinking about Fawlty Towers
A totally inappropriate and misleading title for this video. I was a big fan, they worked well together and apart.
"The Two Ronnies Broke up Immediately After He Did This"
Long story short...they broke up immediately after Ronnie Barker retired plus Ronnie Barker had no connection with "Sorry", which actually ran from 1981 to 1988, he didn't write for, produce, or appear in the series. It was published in November 1988.
brilliant men so good!
6:55 Sorry ran from 1981 to 1988 and it only starred Ronnie Corbett, not Ronnie Barker.
Clickbait, Ronnie B simply retired from performing, he had an antique shop in the Cotswolds.
Ronnie Barker use to supply scrips anonymously to the BBC as Gerald Wiley
One of the first times working together was that was the week that was
They were so together you couldn't chose a fave, same when separated, they gave as much joy as they could muster and it always seemed endless
(/^v^)/! Here's to the one couple that became the two Ron's both together and apart 🏆🏆
Well said, we strongly concur! Thank you for watching our content and for sharing your thoughts. What other types of video would you like to see?
Actually Ronnie Barker retired they didn't BREAK UP
The Navy lark I'd forgot about that.. Not heard it mentioned in decades
The old style good comedians didn't need the obscenities of Connolly and others. Watch Morecombe and Wise and the animals in the cardboard box sketch with Roy Castle.
Ronnie Barker my favourite
They were both my favorites, although Barker for Porridge, for Going Straight and Open All Hours. There is a new series of Open All Hours with David Jason, not the same but just as good here on You Tube..
The best comedy 🤣 duo

Surreal to have a North American explaining an exclusively British institution. There are inaccuracies. Ronnie Barker never appeared in Sorry! - it was solely a Corbett vehicle.
It's nice to hear an American pronounce Edinburgh correctly.😁
Ronnie Corbertt played small parts on theatre and TV , well he would !
The Two Ronnies never broke up Barker ritied then when they got him back on Tv sadly he died And Corbett was with us about 15 years more where hed happily talk about him
Both Ronnies were funny as a duo but for me RonnieBarker in Porridge is up there with the best in British comedy….
I have to agree, most of what is posted in the comment section of all, or most video footage, is without fact's, or supported by accual person's invloved in such footage, to substantiate whether what is being narrated, is accual fact, or not.
They are the fact's.
Most of it is based on (sketchy information) that the information is formed from, opinionated misrepresented, here say.
Cheers, trying to work that one out !!!
Barker wanted his material to be judged on its merits, so he sometimes submitted stuff as a freelancer under false names. He didn't want anything put in just because it came from the star.
