All credit to the Granny's Revenge team for leaning into the idea of being the "joke robot" of this heat. I'm still in hysterics from Trevor Andrew standing next to what remained of his robot and going "It's only a few scratches, nothing we can't repair!"
31:31 The axe looks giant when you see it now, it just goes to show how big & deadly the robots really are, they are certainly not your everyday remote control toy cars everyone
She completed with bigger brother once in the UK/USA nickelodeon tag team show, even though it couldn't fight in the playoff, the duo came 3rd in the tournament. From Joe. X
This episode really showed that Hypno-Disc was starting to be a bit outclassed. It managed to get some knockout hits in but other than that, it really couldn't do much damage to the much tougher armor of some of the bots.
i think if you look hypno disc teeth where the wrong shape to they had a smooth part before the big chunky tooth part so most of the energy was gone by the time it hit the big tooth
In series 7 they would have only been bouncing off them with the disc esp the likes of Tornado/Storm 2 etc, they'd have caused zero damage to those robots.
i think the problem with hypno disc in series 6 was the teeth where the wrong shape they had smooth metal before they hit the big tooth so it would loose most of the energy before it hit the big chunky tooth
The design of the teeth was probably to avoid the teeth shearing off upon impact. However, Megabyte (a US spinner) has a similar teeth design as S6 Hypno-DIsc and watch some of it's videos - it doesn't have an issue with destroying robots. Most of the problem was that by this point, Hypno-Disc was not as powerful compared to some other spinners. 20kg at 900rpm doesn't really cut it compared with 20kg at 2500rpm for Supernova, and 30kg at 1000rpm for Disc-o-Inferno. Armour had improved too much by then.
considering they said it was the same robot as series 5 in a new shell so i'm guessing the motor for the disc was the same and as we also know the extreme hypno disc electronics where being destroyed pretty much every fight because of the electronics this was hypnodisc passing the torch series much like series 8 was the passing of the torch series
It also cost more than they could afford to truly beef up the disc to keep it current. Like other roboteers in RW, money simply became to much of a factor.
Usually, heats featuring Hypno Disc end with most of its opponents going in the skip afterwards. This time, due to the improvements in armor. Not so much carnage coming from the disc.
It disabled every robot in the first fight by itself and won every other fight by K.O. I think the reason it didn't just obliterate other people's robots was simply out of respect for their bot and for preserving their own for the long haul.
Also - all they needed was a new engine to power the weapon and they'd have never fell behind at all. Technology was just so janky at the time, they probably didn't know where to get one. Should have asked the German guys who made the bot Black hole what kind they used lol.
Series 6 was a serious turning point for the robots which were the most feared in previous series. The one disadvantage with building a good robot is that others will adapt designs and technology to take them on. This series proves it. However with Hypno-disc, it was still able to do enough internal damage to knock out their opponents within a couple of hits. Suppose thats much preffered wit many to have that than their machines being swept out, although its not as entertaining. I personally think the only veteran from the classic series which continued to be a seriously strong contender without a successor was Razer.
First heat - Hypnodisc and three assorted other bots. HypnoDisc quite quickly ran out of things to whack. Apparently Barberous went through (along with HD of course), though I thought HypnoDisc had disabled it before 4x4, but it was really only sheer chance and Barberous was a better bot than 4x4 so... Gotta love the kid from Granny's Revenge - "It was so surprising, just a few scratches, nothing we can't repair" Second heat - Bulldog Breed is probably the best of them. But all four actually look as if they could be dangerous, if they work. Well the two spinners didn't, much, and BB and Kat 3 appeared too be diplomatically ignoring each other for much of the fight. Until BB very unchivalrously flipped and pitted the Kat, but the spinners were already out. Hypnodisc vs Bulldog Breed -probably the worst match from HypnoDisc's point of view, I can understand their 'oooh' at the news. BB didn't sound too confident either. BB got a good flip in on HypnoDisc, but after that it was all HD's way. That disc is so formidable. Really didn't need Dead Metal sticking its nose in. Barberous vs Kat - I like Kat but I'd have to bet on Barberous. Not sure how much damage the axe can do to a rotating drum. And the answer is, almost none. The final - unless something quite extraordinary happens, HypnoDisc is going to shred Barberous. And so it was, remarkably quickly.

Can confirm I definitely forgot

I want to be that kid when I grow up. And I’m 26 😂
@@TheScrabbleKing Granny's Revenge 2 got an oven on her nut!. From Joe. X
It’s kinda sad that this heat features hypnodiscs last ever win
32:26 “If we can get on top and take them from behind.” Absolutely fantastic! 😂😂😂
Love how the kat team laughed and craig managed to keep a completely straight face haha
@jack-pot147 think it gave the blonde a couple ideas 😂
Refbot is kind of embarrassed by it, but him and granny had a thing back in the day.

That was a 1 hit wonder from Hypno-Disc. Barber-ous 2 immobilize on the first hit from Hypno-Disc.

8:29 I so totally monstrously agree with Craig what he said bout a person never ever want to treat a elderly in a devilish way.
*_"THAT'S NO WAY TO TREAT THE ELDERLY!"_*
Surely the cloth of 4x4 is entanglement
Yeah but it didnt do shit so it doesnt matter
Entanglements were allowed in series 6. Series 7 is when they banned them

No that was supernova

They just needed better technology lol
It clearly needed to be upgraded to be honest at this point
Poor Granny's Revenge never had a chance. She was my favorite bot too.
I loved Granny's Revenge, such fun.
Best joke robot ever
fought 2 battles.... lost 2
I preferred the first version - only because she caught fire easier, and was LITERALLY a flaming funeral pyre until she was pushed into the Pit!

Barberous honestly had so much potential
Very unlucky machine.
Yeah if it was made with tougher armour than PLASTIC then you could've been potential Grand Finalists

Although hypno disc didn't do as good In this series as it did in 3-5, it still performed better than chaos 2, panic attack and wild thing in series 6
Fun fact:the guys from trouble strife are the guys fromq mr speed squared
wouldn't 4x4 be dissquilified for using and entanglement device
6:10 I think this was when 4x4 was immobilized leaving Barber-Ous & Hypno-Disc the two survivors
7:57 confirmation on what you said
bulldog breed where so unlucky getting put in the same heat as hypno disc again. They had so much potential

“An oddbodd, the Robot Wars Sweeney Todd.”
*robot wars series 8 episode 4*
After the melees, they should have just gone to Bulldog Breed and Hypnodisc in the heat final since the 6 other robots all were immobilized
2:23 why doesn't it say "the number 4 seed Hypno Disc"
Because Hypno-Disc was 4-saken by 😂😂😂
I hate how there was nothing in there to limit early rematches. Round 2 should have been Bulldog Breed vs. Barberous 2 and Hypno-Disc vs. Kat 3.

13:51 nice catch, Killalot
Is Granny's axe even real, or is it just a plastic prop? It always drove me nuts that the weapons never did anything.
Tbf it was immobilised pretty much straight away in that fight
Aw, but I love Granny's Revenge :(
battle 2 lost 2
Revenge of Trouble N' Strife? That wasn't revenge, that was more of the same.
It's kinda sad that this heat features Hypno Discs last ever win in robot wars and because Barber-ous 2 KO itself in that 1st hit
Thank for the video. Love it.
Really Bulldog Breed and Hypno Disc should have been the heat final

Bernie Weiner Dominator 2, Wheely Big Cheese, S3, Wild Thing, and Mace as well.
not wheely big cheese they lost in the third wars and s3 only compeated twice and its sad that known them have won the title
+Ginger Kennedy TBF none of those machines reached a Grand Final, unlike the former two.
And it's sad roadblock and carbide are the only champs to do it
Bernie Weiner not exactly S3 was actually Sting 3. Sting 1 and Sting 2 lost in the heats. Sting 2 lost in the first round
team monad=red yellow and bad
