    Scott is more American than most natural born Americans. Super interesting conversation. We are both glad to have him in this country!

    As a fellow South African (living in England) it was nice seeing someone talk about schools over there. School was so strict compared to here in England. Uniform was always worn and our skirt could be no shorter than a few centimetres above the knee. We had to polish our shoes every day and if our hair touched our collar we had to tie it up. We weren’t allowed to dye our hair or have crazy haircuts and if we did we had to fix it or not come back to school until we had. We had to participate in sport and manners and being polite were a very big deal.

      Scott told me about the four finger rule from the skirt to the knee, it's all so fascinating! I'm surprised English schools aren't as strict really!

    Could we get a home tour? I love the realness of your home. Mismatches jars.. just beautifully filled. I always see "instagram" homes. Thats not real to me.. its definitely not functional.
    I dont mean any disrespect. I truly appreciate the beauty of a real home.

    One of the most interesting videos you have made, it's awesome to learn more about you two on a personal note. One of the thing that I really like about your channel is the South African influence. Some of the homestead channels have a very American centric viewpoint, but it's insightful to hear a multicultural perspective,

    God bless you both- loved your story of how you met; such an amazing testimony and done with love and humor, while giving glory to God. I needed to hear it tonight, God led. With this said, I went to this video following your testimony. Thank you for appreciating our country. We were founded to be a dedicated country to God. Although not perfect, people of this country are being raised to hate this country. I was told about the South African decline when I visited Ireland in 2005. I know people who spent considerable time there and had really loved the country and spoke of that very sadness in the upheaval. It is a warning. God doesn't make mistakes, and this is true in steps being ordered from your childhood to your arrival here.
    Look forward to hearing more from Kelli & yourself. "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord..."

    This was so neat to listen to! Thanks for sharing! It brought me a different perspective of America. I often dream of moving somewhere else. When I was 9 we visited some friends that were living in the Caribbean. I was a naive child so I didn’t feel any sense of danger, but the house we stayed in had every window and door barred including a gate that closed off the hallway to the bedrooms from the rest of the house. Looking back I can imagine there were some major safety concerns. I loved the Caribbean though…that is the most beautiful place I’ve ever visited. For me it is how I envision the way heaven might look 😄

      That's such a perfect picture of the innocence of childhood, praise God. and I can only imagine how beautiful it is! That's how I feel with south africa, how could a place with SO much natural beauty be a place with so much evil... it's a shame.

    Great video. Scott's experience of school sounds quite similar to here in Australia, except it's more secular in our public schools.
    Good insight on Libertarianism too. I'd be interested to know why Scott quit social media? I used to follow his Twitter and found it very interesting.

    I was surprised by how affected I was by my move to Australia - there is definitely a big difference between a short term visit and a relocation. I think it took most of my first month to process leaving behind the trauma and stress of life in SA. Last year the most recent homicide count was 7000 murders in 3 months. Not much difference to living in a war zone.
    On the note of school sport, I managed to get away with only having to attend the big school event days. Even then most of those I ducked out after roll call. I think the teachers turned a blind eye to the more senior non-sporty students thankfully!
    Did you still have corporal punishment at high school? Probably was phased out by your time. I think it was a big part of why I didn't enjoy boarding.
    Maybe give some perspective to what growing up as a minority in a black majority country was like.

      Glenn! It's so good to hear from you (this is Kelli) your comment was so fun to read. Especially with your similar experience with your move to Australia and your process of leaving trauma and stress of life in SA, that's such a good way to put it. And the picture of it as a war zone...
      Hilarious with you getting out of school sport!! That is amazing...
      And that's a great idea, I think that would be a good topic for Scott to share on in the next video. I hope you guys are doing well!!

    Oh my, this video was absolutely wonderful!! I was a journalism student all through high school and really took to interviewing people. So to finally have you sit and ask all the things I’ve wondered about Scott was such a treat! Please do a part #2. Thank you for being so obliging Scott and allowing us to see another side of you!
    Kelli can you tell me about that Ball jar behind you because it appears to be quite large and if it is I’ve never seen one larger than a 1/2 gallon? I pray God blesses you greatly!
    PS I do have a question: you’ve said Scott could not work for two years when y’all came here to stay so why was that and when the time was up could he then work anywhere he chose?

    • @ScottandKelli
      @ScottandKelli  Рік тому +1

      Hi Melody!! Great question, we have talked about it in our new video! And yes, it is a giant ball jar, I probably overpaid for it at an auction a while back ($40) I just couldn't resist. There were 3 and the first was even bigger than mine, but it went for much more!! I've never seen another like it, so I am glad I got it!

    I feel the same sadness for Los Angeles that Scott feels for South Africa . It’s been a fast decline. That sense of safety is gone. LA has declined so fast after 2019. It’s no longer safe. You can’t walk anywhere and you have to be vigilant everywhere you go. I was born and a raised here and it wasn’t this unsafe. I’m general for being a city it was very safe only certain cities were dangerous now it’s everywhere.

    • @ScottandKelli
      @ScottandKelli  Рік тому

      I knew LA was bad but I didn't realize that it was just in recent years that it really declined. That is so sad, and that it's your home place... it really is such a shame, that a place with beauty can be destroyed so quickly. God bless you and your family.

    This was a very interesting discussion, especially about culture! I came across a video a few days ago that is a heavy metal artist doing Amazing Grace....I will say it’s the best rendition of this song Ive ever heard and it brought me to tears. What I’ve learned about this young man is that he is from Brazil and seems to love America more than Americans do!! It just shows how we natives take this country for granted! Anyway I invite you to bring this song into your life....regardless of musical taste, this one WILL move you! ua-cam.com/video/89g9yMGFGlM/v-deo.html
