So that's confirm that we can join British army without sponsor.

@@JoshSmith-tw3fk yeah that's true btw thanks by saying those magical words at the end its a lot for me 😀
I just completed my army assessment yesterday, it was my first time and I was so worried about the bleep test as I'm sure a lot of you are. During my practices I was getting a 5, but all I kept thinking was that I will have to wait another three months to retake it if I fail! I ended up with a 7.5 and passed my assessment with an A. Please don't worry about this, just practice your running and take the advice from this video and you will be fine! Best of luck to everyone!
That's great well done, what trade you going for?
@@CombatReadyHQ I've decided to go for Ammunition Technician in the RLC! Thank you for your video, it helped me to hold some confidence on the day.
@@rachelgriffin3252 ah ok awesome, no worries! Keep me posted with how you get on
I’m struggling when I practice to get over 5.5 my mind tells me I can’t breath .. how do you get past that?
Steph Lancaster keep going that’s the only thing to go if you think u can’t carry on your body can
cheers mate, needed to see this, got assesment in a few months
Awesome mate, good luck with that
So have I u doing infantry aswell then? Having had my date but called up and there just waiting as can’t as many people in assessment due I corona
KB im going on monday, joining rifles
few months daym i was given 10 days notice
HayesNasty good luck
Did my assessment up at Lichfield last Friday, I went for regular infantry and needed 8.7.
Ended up getting 10.2.
My advice would be: don’t go out the gates flying, you get a lot of time so use it. It will get more difficult at around 8.5 I’d say, dig deep and push as much as you can. YOU GET 3 WARNINGS and if you you get a warning but then regain and make the next run the warnings reset.
Good effort mate well done and thank you
Good effort I got 11.2 at the age of 14
Diego well done you boy
Alfie just double checking lad, is it just ur foot that has to touch the line ? or does ur entire body need to be over it
SmellsLikeKet my PTI Said it was just your *lead foot* that needs to touch the line, don’t waste your energy getting your whole body across the line.
The one thing at school when bleep test two dreaded words
Hi Craig, the full details are:
Level 7 juniors
Level 7.2 RLC, corps of army music, intelligence corps, army air corps, reme, royal signals, army medical services and adjutant generals corps
7.9 royal artillery, royal engineers

11.6 paratrooper inc juniors
I’ve taken this from my selection event instructions and have mine at Glencorse first week august :)
That's brilliant thank you, and good luck 😃

Hi what day is your AC? Just wondering cos u said august. Mine is 6th August at Glencourse
So you defo need 7.9 for royal engineers?

Luke yeet yeh but you will be wearing a similar thing just heavier in the army
@Luke yeet I tried it doesnt bounce around for me 🤔

Need to be able to read lad !
Hi Craig I did mine yesterday passed my assessment centre going into household cavalry aswell
Yes mate well done 👍
From someone who's made 3 attempts to join the army so far, I wouldn't stress out over the fitness tests... I made my first 2 attempts to join the Grenadier Guards back in 2014. From what I remember, my run time was around 11:30, but the interviewer was unhappy it wasn't 10:30, even though the cut off point was 12:45. So I just guessed they had to be more picky, due to the cuts. I then took an interest in the reserves last year, after getting fed up with my job at the time. I eventually went to the selection centre for the third time, of course this time, going for the reserves and trying to pass their new fitness tests. I can't remember what I got for the medball or thigh pull, but my run time was around 9 30. But this time they said I need to improve my confidence in the team tasks. Lucky I'm going for the reserves, so they can help me during the drill nights. Or I probably would be fucked if I was going for regulars!
For anyone worrying about the mile and a half regardless of it happening or not, don’t be. They can be just as hard as each other. I preferred the 1.5 as your on your own, no pressure with who’s around you as much. It’s all in your mind at the end of the day as long as you have the physical fitness/stamina to power through. Just mind and hit that line before the beep 😉You’ll all do well. Good luck!!
I passed my assessment centre yesterday as a junior! I found the bleep test harder than the 2km run but was happy with the result. Like said, there is nothing to worry about!
Well done mate 👍
I've got my assessment centre on Friday thanks!!

Completed this a few weeks ago, got para level entry. It’s EASY GUYS JUST DONT STOP
Is ig acctually easy? I have mine in a few months and I haven't trained of anything
@@globalnews6748 its not easy man
Ok, running. No worries. Is anyone else having to wait an eternity for assessment? Saw footage of new recruits starting their training. I haven't a notion what's going on. Raring to go.
yh mate capita is shite, they have taken over recruiting. Met one bloke at RY who waited 2 years to get attested. Fucking bone.
I applied in October last year and i got my start date about 3 weeks ago. I was at assessment centre about 2-3 weeks after i applied, depends on who your recruiter is mainly. I'd have been in 10 times faster if covid didnt cock it all up. be patient tho and show you are eager, they will put you at the front of the queue
Thanks for the feedback and good luck with trainig fellas.
My tip would be to focus breathing through your nose.
Dont sprint at all make sure you hold back a bit on first few levels i'd say till 5
From 5 it should be your normal running pace
And my strategy was to sprint 2 steps and rest was to run my normal pace from stage 6
Sprint 3 steps and run pace on stage 7
Sprint 4 steps and run pace on stage 8
Sprint 5 steps and run pace for 9
I ended up getting level 10 so it defo worked for me.
Just ordered my Addidas weighted vest, good call mate great vid. I'm looking to join the paras and this will help a lot, thankyou!
No worries mate good luck
This is like the best video ever you are giving hopes to those who are applying and waiting for their Assessment Day. Beep test is better than 1.5miles
Did this back in school and got 10. The weak kids could barely do 6 whilst the best managed up to 11 + however many shuttles.
Oooohh your hard
Lol chill the brothers just sharing his experience
Good effort by the "weak kids" must've been hard for them
The bleep test is so easy guys, you just need to practice and believe in yourself. When u running breathe deeply and slowly and dont give up.
wow great vids mate m also having an assessment at February next year..so excited.. after long wait
Cheers mate got assessment centre on Monday and am only getting 7.9 on the bleep test but can do the run no bother bit scared tbh but this has kinda reassured me 👍
How's it all gone since this was 6 months ago
Completed this on 1st July, bleep test was done outside in the car park, found it easier to do the bleep test than the run itself. Also the assessment it’s extremely quick. I arrived at 19:00 and passed and was at the train station at 12:00 following day. Bleep test score is 8.7 for armoured corp and infantry. Royal Artillery is 7.9 can’t remember the rest. Good encouragement from the staff when doing the run and as Craig said just pace yourself and you’ll get through it. Would recommend Fartlek training to prepare.
That's great mate cheers for this and good effort 👍👌
@ craig hollman are commonwealth lads coming in for assessment ?
Hi, do they say you need to hit the line with feet or does your body need to cross also how many warnings do you get? Cheers
Kane Davies can’t remember how many warnings. I think it’s 2 per level and it resets every level and only your feet need to cross the line
Oh that puts my mind at ease massively, got 9.6 but was being uber strict making my chest go over, and had my mate judging 3 short and out, thanks for the reply mate
One last thing any links for revision for the cognitive test? I'm happy with everything bar that
Got my Assesment on the 11th August, at Glencorse. Going for RAC, bit nervous but this video helped, thanks!
Same here, arrive on the 10th and assessment on the 11th, I’m going for Paras so hopefully make it to 11.6, good luck 👍🏻
I never do running but i do HIIT 6 days a week, I tried the bleep test for the first time and got 10.1. I only stopped as I was feeling pain from HIIT training earlier today.
Ive got mine on Monday at Edinburgh. Hopefully joining the Rifles
Good luck mate 👍

Thanks! I've got my assessment centre at Glencorse on 6th August

Well?
no way I did my 2km run few months back in Edinburgh glencorse tbh I think I prefer the 2km rather than the beep test
I find the bleep test harder
@@pippy278 yeah same 2km is just constant bleep test is harder every min you going I to the army yeah ?
Cheers mate makes me feel alot better about the beep test
My running is at 8:46 mins but I need it to 8:15 mins for Paras. the only problem I have is my weight I need to put on weight
Ok, eat more get more good quality nutrient dense food in you, eat plenty of protein to help build muscle
Craig Hollman Okay thank you
I have the same issue mate, start using serious mass weight gainer shakes. I've put 10lbs on in just over a month
I had the same problem for when I tried to join the Royal Marines. My family are all rather small and skinny and even though I tried all the tricks people told me I couldn’t break the 60kg barrier. Seeing as I need 65kg minimum though 70kg is better. I ended up pulling out my application and going for the Household Cavalry which is more up my street anyways.
@@caldoesstuff7290 fair enough mate, anyone can gain weight though. Just need to out yourself into a calorie surplus

Great information watched so many different videos that confused me about how they do the assessment this video has made it clear thank you
Glad it has helped 👍
My lad was up Glen on 12/13th July. He did bleep, ball and thigh pull. Maybe one or two others. Also cog test and medical. He said he sat around for hours at one point in a room. He did bleep just after they let them eat food so he said he felt like throwing up at the end of run. He breezed assessment, got his cert and is off to Catterick 20 Sept for Ph1. Oh, for those waiting to go for assessment, remember, you are being assessed for the monent they meet you. Dress smart - its basically a job interview. Good luck everyone 👍🏻
They say to turn up in sports kit and in the latest zoom meeting it was made clear not to bring a suit, just a fresh sports kit for the interview? Please tell me if I'm wrong
@@kanedavies8856 My lad didnt wear a suit. He went there smart casual and did med ball, thigh pull & cog test in those clothes; black jeans, shirt (not t shirt) and running trainers. Smart yet casual. The second day he did medical and bleep in his under armour gear.
If youve been told to ruck up in sports gear sounds like u may do medical and bleep on day one instead. I duno, but my lad was supposed to go Scotland 15 April but couldnt due to lockdown. There will be a huge backlog of intakes so they'll speed up the process coz of current situation but still make sure you're competent to go to Ph1.
Maybe they are seeing how best to do stuff coz of covid. My lad said interview wasnt even really an interview, as you'd expect. Just a brief chat.
Yeah I'm going to Scotland sent from Middlesbrough office, most of thr stuff you have said has lined up, I'm still iffy about not sticking jeans on for the chat, might just pack both and roll with it, cheers for your time
@@kanedavies8856 I just spoke to my lad, he said out of the guys that were there with him only 2 took suits, or at least suit pants, shirt and tie (my lad was one of them but not full suit). An Army guy walked passed them and said "its good to see some of you in suits". Get from that what you will but seems they may like the effort made. Im guessing he got chance to change after medical and bleep. Lots of boring sitting around, too.
The "interview", my lad just said it was basically what he got right, what he got wrong, keep training before Ph1, to 'bulk out', how he did in the tests, the marks he got; general stuff really.
Last day was up at 6am, bags packed, bed done, stuff taken to safe room etc. Problem was, they got woken up at 5am coz one of the lads banged his head on the bunks, haha!
My lad went from Manchester to Edinburgh. The journey itself is a fairly long one but he just chilled to music.
Hope this helps. Good luck 👍🏻
Oh, one last thing, they all finished early on last day and could make own way home if they wanted or wait for coach to take them back to train station. My lads tickets were any time travel but on the dates stipulated on ticket. There is a bus stop which accepts contactless payments and goes to train station. Think it was the number 47 but dont quote me on that. So if u finish early you may get back home early, just check for earlier train times.
That's fantastic, really appreciate the extra effort you put in for me, I have some family in Edinburgh I haven't seen for a while so if needs be I think I'll visit them if we happen to get out early, thank you very much
our bft was 9.5 minutes for 1.5 mile run, with full winter combat gear. that was as apprentice chef in 1981, junior leaders.
Ah yeah I remember the bft.. that's awesome, good test
ive been looking for this for a bit. idk why but ive always found doing a beep test easier than directly doing a 2km run
Same. I think its more mental, i just hate running and the discomfort i feel in my legs, i can go hard for about 5-6mins then tank, where as the bleep teat only lasts like 7-8 mins around level 7-8 and the first few levels are basically a warm up.
Good video as always got my assessment on Thursday shitting it
Stay positive! Believe in yourself. Good luck 👍

@Franky Hay wow that honestly sounds amazing and its one of the main reasons I want to join the army because of all the sports that I can do plus the traveling I'll get to do interests me so much because there's not much going for me in my home town, I've done plastering for 5 years but sick of wasting my money in the pubs and clubs on the weekends this is one way I would be able to save and get to see the world just need to keep up my fitness now, thanks for taking interest in my comment.. stay safe x

Craig Hollman I joined in 96 and it was 6 pull ups, 45 Press ups in 2 minutes, and 55 sit ups, I think? Oh and the lovely 1.5 miles in 10:30 (which is still a deceptive distance and pace!- being 41 I’d have about 13 minutes nowadays. Lovely)
Glad I won’t have to do pull ups again, I was always shit at them and the wooden beam was always too slippy.
