In my reactions, I show you my initial reaction (or fangirling) to music videos/songs, and sometimes also comment about the technical aspects, or the production of the video if anything such stands out to me. Ok so I keep adding comments but I have to say a few things about Decalcomanie:
1. The song before the final chorus is a snippet of another Mamamoo song called Memory, which is really smooth and jazzy

You should react to "Mr. Ambiguous" (the song they debuted with), "Piano Man", and Esna's "Ahh Oop!" Those are their first songs after debuting and before "Um Oh Ah Yeh." Loved how you kept fan girling over them, especially Moonbyul 😁. Hope to see more Mamamoo reactions soon!

Wherein Byul was actually combative because she was resisting Solar's molestations...on camera, at least 😀

If I can recommend other songs than Mamamoo, I would happily recommend YooA's "Bon Voyage" (YooA is from Oh My Girl). There are some effects that seem real (for me personally), visually the song is divine to me :)

It's quite funny cus Decalcomanie is the most popular song from mamamoo in Korea, yet it's considered as an underrated song internationally. You should definitely listen to their live stages.

Decalcomanie is where I feel Mamamoo really made the transition from "older" Mamamoo to "current" Mamamoo. It was their first MV where the (romance) storyline was played literally and figuratively completely straight (meaning, as opposed to played for laughs, as in "Um Ah Oh Yeh", or "You're the Best" when you get to it -- but feel free to take it any other applicable way 😀 )
You could also perhaps consider the male lead in Decalcomanie is the RBW management providing a "beard" for the girls (or trying to). Remember, however much the international fans openly admire it (and closeted Korean fans as well), same-sex relationships are still very NOT OK in Korea, so that Korean mainstream media has to be veeerrrrryy careful about showing it. Or showing conventional relationships 99 and 44/100th percent of the time.
Sadly, I felt that Decalcommanie was also a pinnacle song, as mamamoo went from a vocal based group, to a trend chasing group. Their current songs, IMO, don't hold a candle to their older stuff. Even with their live performances, all their best stuff is pre 2018.
casualsuede I totally agree, but I'm also over it. This is all a business (that is the true sad part of the music industry), we can't expect them to stick to what doesn't sell as well. I find consolation in the fact that they are still doing something meaningful (their recent lyrics are relevant and personal). Hopefully, they find a middle ground somewhere along the way between trendy and worth their vocal talent. Some of the songs in the 4 seasons project for instance seemed to go in that direction.
Great reaction! They are really something else. I recommend wind flower that came out after Egotistic but before Gogobebe and their commercial film MVs that are on par with many other groups comebacks (wanna be myself that came out today, Gleam and Woo Hoo)

"yes i am" is one of their many self-empowerment anthems that they're so freaking good at... and that the world seriously needs more of (thankfully mamamoo loves creating them, including for their most recent cf, "wanna be myself"). it also earned them quite a lot of popularity since it hit more of the standard pop music checklist than any of their earlier works
"um oh ah yeh", because of the plot twist at the end where it turned out yul (byul's character) had been a woman the whole time, cemented the love for these girls in korea's lgbtq+ community...which already adored the girls, but having that happen in the video just skyrocketed it. you can guarantee mamamoo is played at every single korean pride festival, esp this song
and then "decalcomanie"... the story for that one goes that the four women were looking for...experience. south korea has a rather quaintly pg concept of a woman blossoming after a first kiss. and that's what the mv was about. the members wanted to experience this so went out hunting... they all picked the same guy and made him think he was the one hunting them when it was actually the other way around... then when they get what they want, they basically dump him and you never see him again
the actor used for this mv is gay, btw. which has helped lessen the death threats against him slightly. supposedly that was one of the reasons he was selected, so the girls would feel more comfortable shooting those scenes with him. poor wheein, though, still had lots of issues... there's footage of her getting shy and awkward multiple times, once even spinning away from him into a dance (and she makes fun of herself for doing such later)
also, the segments you said didn't seem to fit... they're actually another song from the album, "draw draw draw" or "memory". the album's name is 'memory', the song that is both "draw draw draw" and shares the album's name is very much a christmas song
In the first line and middle line in MV Decalcomanie the song name is "Memory(Drawing-Drawing)", it's also having MV. The song very jazzy, calmness and have Christmas vibe. I don't know why the song underrated for the people, I think that's one of the best song of Mamamoo

At first I didn't really loved decalcomanie but then themore I listened to it the more I loved it then I watched the mv and wow I loved it completely. Also I just imagine I am that men so I love it even more haha because I kissed all of them haha aaah and I'm in love with the choreography too ❤
You should watch the MVs from their official channel, they have Eng subtitles on the videos, well most videos lol
If it's any consolation, the behind the scenes showed that he did NOT kiss any of them.
Fun fact: the original Decalcomamie MV had to be pulled, edited, and reuploaded because in Solar's kiss scene, the male lead was depicted as being, shall we say, a bit more _forceful_ in collecting his kiss from Solar. Never mind that Solar was entirely on board with it for the scene and the story line of the video (going so far as to say _it was her idea_ after controversy erupted), it nevertheless looked a little rape-y. The immediate backlash forced RBW to edit the MV within a week of its release.
Yeah, I was pretty mad. I get that Solar had this (to her) cute fantasy but it just came out all wrong. I was also a bit worried for the dude until they fixed the video. I wouldn't mess with protective K-moomoos. Decalcomanie is still probably my least liked title track, but also because the whole kiss scene slowdown with Memories imo didn't fit it. Lives are great because they just continue the upbeat song all the way.

The first time I listened Decalcomanie I didn't like it because of the same that you said about the chorus but after I listened like two times I loved it. I don't know if you have reacted to Gleam, Aze gag, Pianoman and Mr. Ambiguous (this is their debut song I think) but I recommend you all of them.

Unnie is part of Korean honorifics, for a young girl to call an older girl, as oppa is for a young girl to call an older guy. That is why there's a lot of funny comments regarding Moonbyul to be called Oppa or handsome (by miss-gender her on purpose) because, a lot of ladies fall for her charm's ( girl-crush)
I know that you aren't 100% serious in this video, i mean it's just a MV, but reading the comments and the overall reception that Decalcomanie got, i can't help but feel that this is one of the reasons it's so hard for idols to date publicly. People think that they belong to them and no man deserves to be with them to the point of mean insults and death threats.

I can only speak for myself here but for me I would always support an idol dating. I definitely played this up for comedic effect and also because I know that it’s not real so I won’t be offending anyone. In reality I would never speak this way over someone they were dating, I want them to be happy of course!

Lmao "This man needs to die", what everyone thought when this video came out. There's bts footage of Byul doing the scene and when they ended the take she dramatically lets go, makes a disgusted face, and coughs as she's walking away. And in this video Solar turns to Byul and says "What? What is this?!" and Byul quietly says "Sorry". But it's ok, the actor is gay in reality. XD

When Decalcomanie first came out there was a lot of backlash, first bc of the guy. Second, in the elevator scene with Solar, which I don't remember if she suggested the scene or not, there was a scene where he grabs her and pushes her against the wall trying to kiss her. The scene showed him holding her wrists against the wall and she was struggling to get out until she eventually gave into the kiss. Fans were rioting until RBW reuploaded the video with it edited out.
