Steve should understand that politics is a lot like baseball in as much as you have to prove your worth before you join the big leagues. Steve should run for a California government office first, perhaps even governor. Contrary to popular belief, California has elected Republican governors in the past. When the Democrats swing too far left, which is happening now, Californians in the past have reigned them in by electing a Republican governor. The problem with the last few election cycles is that the Republican candidates have been of the looney tune MAGA camp and that is not going to fly in California. If the Republicans would run a sane moderate Republican, that person would have a shot.
