Meinl Cymbals - Chris Coleman - 21" C Squared Ride

- Chris Coleman: “I wanted something I could use for a lot of things so I don’t have to carry multiple ride cymbals with me every time I play. I can cover a lot of ground with this ride, and it just does everything I need it to do and sits well in the mix too.”
The C2 (C Squared) ride was designed in collaboration with Meinl Cymbals artist Chris Coleman, and it perfectly blends the elements that Chris needed from multiple ride cymbals into a versatile yet powerful 21” ride cymbal. Starting with a heavy blank, the bow is worked into to a high profile; this combination of weight and shape work together to accentuate the desired stick articulation and presence. The holes around the edge are an uncommon feature found on ride cymbals, but they were added to control the wash and sustain that larger cymbals generate and to further augment the definition Chris desired to stand out in the mix. While the bell is thick enough to cut through any band, the hand-hammering gives it a warm and earthy tonality for a more musical punch. The overall extraordinary look of this cymbal with its raw, unlathed surface and holes combined with its intense sound will make everyone take notice when you add it to your kit.
Its kinda hard 2 hear him talk about this cymbal without being distracted by that brilliant playing in the background
I know I said the same thing 😂😂 love the ride though
I'm still a Zildjian guy, but this ride, the Spectrum Ride, and that 22" Jazz China are all pulling me to the dark side. Not sure how much longer I can resist.
Com on ova .. Plenty of Love here 😈 .. 🙏🏾🤣
I left the zildjian ship a long time ago. Meinl is the only company so far that has cymbals that made me never even think about any other company. I've tried out many different cymbals from all kinds of brands, but Meinl's Byzance cymbals blow me away every time I hear them in person. Videos do not give them any bit of justice
Yea im tempted as well. I love Sabian for rock/metal BUT im going more into Jazz and Meinl just offers what I need. And they sound good. Im finding myself needing to go where I find the sound for where my next direction is going.
This guy's smile is jiust sooo contagious. Nice sounding cymbal too. Not too washy, not too pingy, nice and musical.
Me: I don't need another ride cymbal
Meinl/Chris: Introducing the Chris Coleman Signature Ride
My Wallet:
I got mine yesterday... BIG cymbal BIG sound.
This is the “Spartan bronze shield” of cymbals!
Nothing gets me more exited than seeing Meinl come up with another beautiful bronze frisbee
Bronze frisbee with holes, be more respectful.
Chris could make a metal garbage can top sound amazing... But on the real that ride looks as well as sounds killer. Also Chris explains it so very well that even a novice drummer would understand. Meinl has in my opinion the best line of diversity when it comes to cymbals hands down.
Man, Meinl has got to make the best cymbals to my ears. And its always a pleasure watching and listening to Chris Coleman.
Nice. The meinl Earth ride.
The Big & Ugly Meinl ride
I really enjoy hearing and watching Chris Coleman play drums but one thing I always notice and like is that he's always smiling and happy !!
I could listen to Chris talk for hours. Great cymbal concept, stoked to hear more!
Dear Meinl People, you are going to cause me a heart attack releasing all these delicious cymbals... First the Foundry Reserve Line Extension and now this CC Signature. Oh well!!!! Congratsss!!!
Chris Coleman is such an inspiration! I'm happy he has his beautiful signature ride and you can tell he's happy aswell 🔥😂🙌🏼
Such a unique ride
i’d love to see meinl make a manhole cover in the street signature cymbal
I’m in love with the sound of this cymbal. That bell sounds so damn good.
Cymbal looks sick but Chris Colemans playin is SPICY!!!!
Damn the chops on this guy!
That’s the most beautiful ride I have ever heard! I have the 22” Sabian Paragon ride and I love it. ❤️👍🏽
What a nice dude - cymbal sounds great!
Awesome sound definitely gonna get this ride💯
Sounds real killer and i say that as someone that plays mostly metal! And Chris` attitude is awesome, such a nice guy!
😍😍😍😍Que maravilha de prato vou comprar um desses ainda 🙏
Congratulations big brother chris 🙂👍🙏💪
I just wanna see him on that Vic firth live thing
Proud of you bro finally got your starting potentially for a full signature line of cymbals.
All success and blessings Master... 😇 ✌🏼
I’m very excited about this new ride cymbal coming on THE MEINL ROSTER, love the sound, concept and feel of this product!!!!
But I have a strong feeling that there’s gonna be a SIGNATURE HIHAT being introduced, developed and designed by CHRIS and brought on to the MEINL ROSTER as well!!!
Or MAYBE it’s just me!!! Lol
Either a 13” (which is his personal preference) or a 14”!!! MAYBE BOTH, who knows lol!!!!
Either Way, I’m very excited and anxious to see what comes next!!!
@@DaMusicalAdvocate I'd say a 15, like the one on drumeo fest.
IT'S CRAZY WE'RE GOING TO COME BACK TO THIS COMMENT, WHEN IT DOES :D LOL
@@DaMusicalAdvocate he plays 14s.
That may be the crispiest ride I've ever heard.
I want one!
I've been hoping for an articulate dark ride for a while, so I'm excited for this one. I kinda wish it was tapered out instead of having the holes though, because it does not seem crashable.
Yeah this definitly won’t be a ride to buy for crashability. Chris has always taped the bottom of his cymbals for maximum dryness so it makes sense. It’s different cause it’s super heavy yet drier than the extra dry, dark, and vintage rides.
WRONG :) : ua-cam.com/video/_F0FUJR2ZnM/v-deo.html
@@Savignylol Oh shit! Sounds like a heavy ride being crashed, but it definitely holds up better than I would have thought
I would say try the sabian legacy 22” heavy ride it has the articulation and you can crash it but to be honest the c square has a better bell ping if that’s something you prefer. But this is a great sounding ride.
@@Juniscrazy Good recommendation. I have a 22" byzance traditional heavy ride that is in the same ballpark. But yeah by articulate I pretty much meant pingy. Really I just want a classier b20 version of the discontinued 22" soundcaster fusion powerful ride.
CC delivering more drumming goodness!!!
Insane articulation
Good for you bro 👍🏻
Keep kicking ass
I'd love that ride in brilliant finish w/o holes. It could be the perfect rock ride.
check out the mike johnston transition ride if you haven’t
I need this in my life
This man's been working out
Best ride cymbal ever
Very cool. Not my style, but one of those things that's always good to have.
Just bought one off Memphis drum shop. Can’t wait to get it and play it and track with it!
Andy - thank you so much!
@MEINL Cymbals Please release this awesome drum solo without the talking!!
Who here feels like that cymbal will only sound good in his (chris) Hands
O wow, finally chris!!!!!!!!
Meinl, please release the full footage of his solo!
Stay tuned! We have multiple videos from this session.
It would be cool to hear this next to a dark raw bell ride
idola w nih
Jesus, it’s so heavy it sounds like a fucking frying pan lmao. Awesome!
Yo nice ride, but what cymbal does he crash at 1:20? Sounds awesome haha
Hi Bluesky, that's a 20" Byzance Dual Crash-Ride.
It weewy awticuwates the tah... uwu
I’m glad he knows his stuff because people don’t like that it’s crashable 🤷🏾♂️ it’s a RIDE literally 😂✊🏾 I like it
Question:
What cymbal felts is he using bro?
I need to know! HAHA
Is this a good crashable cymbal also? Didnt saw it on the video review.
It is not crashable. It's a very thick cymbal.
Not my fave Meinl ride, but Meinl still rules!
What's the weight on this one?
3300-3400 grams is the range.
bro why are your snare wires so TIGHT?!?!?
Dryzance
Lol.
Great stick definition but a little to heavy and dry for me
not to spite you meinl but most of us are gawking at Chris, not the cymbal LOL
No slam felt. We love gawking at Chris too. 🙂
H I L A R I O U S 🤣🤠
Was anybody else distracted by the disrespectful chops being played in the background? Idk what Chris Coleman was talking about. 😳😩🔥🔥🔥👌🏽
... how much practice does it take..........
Chris Coleman=pi
Chris has more chops than pork
great playing by chris , my goodness meinl is trying very hard ot make cymbals that sound like paiste these days
What paiste does this sound like? Also - It’s what Chris wanted, not Meinl. If it wasn’t what he wanted, he wouldn’t have put his name on it.
Love the sound but I can't get my head round that finish.... I would be scared to put it in my cymbal bag and have it scratch all my other cymbals to shit!!
That's what dividers are for! 🙂
@@meinlcymbals If you wanted to give me one Meinl then I will be very grateful... It's coming up to the festive season after all!!
man that thing is dry!
It's the first cymbal I'll say Meinl fucked up: still looks pretty round to me!
That snare is dry af
Its so damn dry though
Exactly
and the whole entire hole's in the cymbal thing is way too gimmicky! Reminds me of the stadium ride
@@jeffwhitfield173 not a gimmick, it’s part of the sound
@@JustysFrank and what sound would that be?
@@jeffwhitfield173 Very dry. Without the holes, as Chris said, it was starting to wash out a lot due to the weight. This was the solution to that.
pls chris loose your snares, jesus!
Why would he? Sounds like heaven
@@JustysFrank u have no idea lol
@@matzemedia9594 You’re saying they are choked, but that’s part of the sound. Super dry with super low sustain. Just like the ride. lol
Too heavy 😌
If you remember the Stadium Ride this cymbal is just like that but no gimmicky holes.....The Stadium Ride was HEAVY and dry. I was really hoping to like this cymbal but nah!!! I'll keep my trusty 'ol 24" foundry light ride!
Awesome soul player but my god, his jazz is bad
don’t think he played any jazz throughout the entire vid
I saw him play at a jazz intensive live, Chris can swing
