Oh my word you make me laugh! You are perfectly imperfect and I hope you know that's one of your best qualities! Your garden is so inspiring! So lush and abundant. Bravo! Wish I could eat ferments. My hubby even bought me a kit for Christmas a couple years ago. My gut can't handle it - even in tiny amounts. Booo!
Yes please. My family got annoyed with me and how much zucchini I grew last year so I didn't even plant it this year. Would be nice to find another way to enjoy it!
Good Lord, my husband just brought a bred cow home today. I asked when she was due. He didn’t know. I grew up in the city. He has experience with this stuff but I’ve never had a momma cow. We have had black belly sheep in the past 13 years we’ve been together. Also knew nothing about sheep and those mommas came bred and were a heartbreak when they lambed. Most were full of parasites when we got them. They just looked old to us. Most lambed just fine but then either abandoned the kids, took them out in bad weather when too young and they left them hiding under something to stay dry and some died shortly after lambing. We lost most of the lambs. I also lost one mom who had not been able to get her lamb out and I did not have the knowledge to help her. I just stayed with her until the end. We sold the rest of the herd after getting them heathy when I realized that I needed to learn more about animal husbandry before hubs brought anymore animals home. I’ve learned a lot about sheep but not cows. So now I watch cow videos to help me learn more. I hope cows do a lot like sheep when calving.
Chelsea, if you will take a vegetable peeler and take the outer part of the stalk off and cut it into 1 inch cubes. It’s as tasty. if not tastier than the top and just as tender, I actually like it better cause it has a crunch than I do the florettes
Recommend you freeze leeks...just cut them up in 1/4 inch or less rings, stuff them in a freezer bag and freeze. There is no need to process them in any way, just wash, and dry and clean thoroughly where the green leaves meet the white neck. And by the way, I see Tubers/Americans who throw the green part of the stalk away....what a waste. I cut 3/4 way up unless the leaves have some damage....everything goes into the bag...I've been doing it all my life this way, and so did my mother. They will last frozen for 2 years, and I have a feeling they will turn "mushy" when you reconstitute them after freeze drying. When you fill the bags, fill to the brim. It's OK, you will be able to remove portions from any bag without any problems. we use leaks in every soup...here is my Winter Squas Soup Recipe: 1 large Waltham Squash or Red Kuri Squash (if you have Kuri (Hokaido squash) its the best, but any winter Squash is good. Peel, cube and bake. In a Dutch Oven, melt 1 stick of butter, add 1 chopped onion, 2x Leeks (cut up), and Sautee until Onion is glossy and Leek is limp. Add the baked Squash, 1 liter of chicken/vegetable stock, 1+ tsp minced Ginger (to taste), 1 tsp salt, pepper to taste, 1+ garlic clove minced (to taste)...now macerate everything with a stick or blender, then add 1-1/2 cups of heavy cream. Adding 1/4 tsp of pumpkin seed oil or Sesame oil finishes it off nicely (if you have it, but is good without), and sprinkle a few roasted pepitos (Pumpkin seeds) over each serving...but careful those oils are potent, add little at a time. It looks complicated but it actually goes pretty quick. Double the recipe for your family. You can freeze the soup too.
When I lived in Alaska our cabbages, broccoli and cauliflower got huge and the eating was wonderful. The pumpkins were always grown to prize size for the fair. I lived there for 20 years and we always had a wonderful garden. We had an 8 ft fence around the garden to keep the moose out. We also would make wonderful sauerkraut. We would also fish and dip net for salmon and canned it up. One year a guy had 250 lbs of salmon off a fish wheel that he gave to us. I canned every bit of it into pint jars. I had 2 canners going for 3 days. It was such a blessing that this guy gave this to us. I live in Missouri now and it’s so much harder to grow food because of the heat. I have got to try your broccoli salad it sounds so good. I love your garden. It looks like a serene place to be. Thanks for sharing all the things you do. Cheryl
I have a rather small backyard garden this year due to the heat earlier on. I lost quite a bit. I now have a shade cloth with works great. I am going to invest in another one in case it is a hot one again next year. I love watching your channel as I am in Calgary, and am encouraged by what we can grow here in our shorter growing season. I predict Aug 5th, but I honestly hope it is sooner. 😊
I’m in zone 9a…the Deep South of Louisiana. My tomatoes are already finished and they were delicious. We have such a long hot summer that we can plant fall tomatoes in late August and harvest those in mid October. Nature…it’s amazing!!! Can’t wait to see another calf on your farm.
Those cabbage and cauliflower look delicious, never can get them to grow to a good size. The salad for lunch looks delicious I usually add a couple of boiled eggs . Due date August 3. Thank you for sharing
“Oop! There’s another one!”😲🤣😂. The excitement of vegetable gardening… what’s lurking under those healthy leaves? Your enthusiasm is delightful, always, ….. along with your love of all that is beautiful whether it’s animal, vegetable or mineral. I’ve always had a passion for the hearty zinnia and am in awe of how healthy yours are… no fungal disease on the leaves. I live in New England (Vermont) 🇺🇸 & have had very few years where I don’t have a that issue on one of my favorite flowers.
I think August 2. While we watch this video you will be helping Thistle and her baby! I add sliced almonds to my broccoli salad, it is good for another crunch.
I think Thistle gave birth late August 2! I hope all goes well for her🙏 lovely gardens, harvest & vegetable processing! Thanks for sharing! Blessings to all 🤗💗🇨🇦
I am enjoying your channel more and more every week. Your content is great; I love that you share the hard things along with the good things. I love that you're faith-based. And I love that your land is such a contrast to the area I live in. (Central Texas). I'm glad that you and your husband have made some changes to your goals and how you work. Maintaining a good life is hard enough as it is. So I pray that you guys will continue to be led with wisdom, discernment, and plenty of love for each other and love for the Lord. Blessings!
Remember the dwarf tomatoes you planted inside in like February? Did you ever get any tomatoes? I don’t remember seeing an update after they moved upstairs.
I am in zone 3b here in Minnesota. Our season is a little longer but I always have a ton or green tomatoes. I make relish from them and we have fried green tomatoes for a few days. Love your videos. I am gardening for 2 and have plenty to share.
Rabbits love the clippings from tomatoes or the compost pile. I would enjoy hearing what you do with the extras when you prune the many different plants and trees.
Your garden is doing well. I just started harvesting a few things now. Peppers are coming on good (no greenhouse). But still impressive considering I planted on June 15. Your salad looks great - quite like that salad - but I think it is more a bacon broccoli salad...lol. Thistle will have calved just after first light on August 2...lol. Thanks for the tip on harvesting the chamomile. Good video!
I think she will have her calf on the 1August late evening love your video's your garden is so beautiful you have worked so hard well done xx from Kathy in Spain🍋🍋🍋🍋
Oh my gosh yes the poppys are gorgeous. And yes holy moly the cauliflower and cabagges and so much more wow. Wonderful. Oh my gosh poor girl! My guess for fun August the 2nd and it was next day right after a special full moon so the baby will need a full moon name. Not sturgeon though this full moons name. But the moon was so big and bright and glorious. So mabye if a girl Glory. If a boy Moonlight. I love these little fun games Chelsea. I play them with my kids to have always. For years when they were wee. And now still do when they are young adults. Sauerkraut looks amazing. hugs as always.
I was watching one of the medicinals channels, sorry can't remember which one. When she was harvesting her chamomile she used a cranberry picker and it was absolutely amazing how much chamomile she was able to harvest in just a few minutes with little to no effort.😊
Your garden is as beautiful as ever. I also just watched your Blueti (sp?) video because I missed it the othe day. I literally was smiling from ear to ear at both you and Dan. You were like kids at Christmas. Truly made my heart happy to see you both so excited a happy. I love seeing good people be blessed. Warms my soul. Brings joy to my spirit. You guys keep smiling. I look forward to seeing you finish it out. I’m certain it’ll be beautiful. Thanks for all you do. God bless you all. Love, hugs, and blessings~Lisa
Your gardens are just beautiful!! I love that broccoli salad. My recipe calls for golden raisens, but I usually dont have them on hand, so regular raisens or Craisens work really well. It also calls for sunflower seeds and shredded cheese. I dont like it as well with the cheese... but try putting cubes of apples in it!! Oh my gosh its good. I usually use golden delicious because it's my favorite and the skin is more tender than regular red apples. That wasn't in my original recipe, but its there every time now! I hope that calf is there by now. Because you're right... that CAN'T be comfortable!! I love your videos & appreciate the effort you put into them. Good luck with your tomatoes!! God bless you & yours. 🙏🙏
If your green tomatoes have a shiny skin, they will ripen. Dull skin will just go bad. Set them in a single layer on a box or tray to ripen. I did this a few years ago and we had ripe tomatoes for over a month. I find my biggest producer is an heirloom called Japanese Black Trifle. It is a roma shape but is a black with more meat than I have found in any hybrid. The flavor is so true tomato that most hybrids miss. I am in western Washington and have grown them in containers and the garden.
Leek is so delicious😊. Here in Germany there is a soup popular with it....leek, ground pork or beef or mixed, both well cooked and than cream cheese (or what we use is so called "Schmelzkäse"), vegetable broth and ready to be yummy ❤😂
We like the Black Beauty zukes. What you refer to as cattle panels we have always called hog wire panels. Sauerkraut looks great. The cabbages are so juicy. I have never made mine in a jar like that before. I just use the same 20 gallon crock that my grandma & my mom used. I am going to try the jar method though. As loose as Thistle is in the back end she could be close, maybe 4 days. If she is leaking milk, it could be very close I say in that case 18 hours. Those are my guesses.
I love finding treasures in the garden every day :)
Excellent video! love the recipes, and a new twist on sauerkraut---now I will love it~! 💗💚
Hello my friend ❤❤
If you add dried cranberries & sunflower seeds to that broccoli salad it's a game changer!
Beautiful cauliflower I love your garden hey for Canada. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💚💞🥰🤗
I use maple syrup instead of sugar in my broccoli salad. My husband prefers the taste.
You can add dried cranberries or raisins to your salad. So yummy!!
Brocolli salad, mmmm! We also add raisins to our salad!
You are wonder women Chelsea amazing gardens.Lovely🌼🐝🌻
I love those poppy’s! Love watching you and your homestead! God Bless!
We put sunflower seeds and raisins in our broccoli salad. Yummy
I love a good broccoli salad!! That just looks spectacular!
I love watching your joy and excitement for your flowers, your garden and especially all the animals! It’s very refreshing. 🙂
Hummingbirds also love bee balm..love them with the bees sharing the blossoms.
Booo!
Bolero pelleted carrots are my absolute favorite to plant❤
Would love to see an episode making the zucchini relish. Ontario 🇨🇦
You got it!
Yes please. My family got annoyed with me and how much zucchini I grew last year so I didn't even plant it this year. Would be nice to find another way to enjoy it!

The poppies are beautiful
Kraut looks delicious!!
Y’all Awesome 👏👏👏
We weighed down our salted cabbage with beach rocks in oak barrels-in the 50’s and 60’s in Nova Scotia on a fishing homestead

C’mon Thistle drop that baby! I do hope she has a safe delivery regardless the day. I enjoyed today’s video so much thanks for posting it! Hugs, Doc❤
Don't know if anyone's mentioned this but extra large cukes can make good bread and butter pickles. At least we like them. 😋

I slice the big pickling cucumbers and pickle them. Delicious. :)
Thank you!
I didn't know you can eat broccoli raw! Live and learn I guess )) Thank you for another amazing video.
In Michigan that's a vehicle for ranch dressing. Enjoy!

Your videos are chalk full of great information - Thank you!
She will probably calf the 1st or 2nd of August, that's my 2 cents.
Awesome harvest Chelsea!❤️🤗
I think you should name that calf "overdue" 😊

Great harvest!!
Your garden is soooooooo beautiful!
August 2nd is my guess lol You're garden is awesome
I’m guessing she will have her baby on the 1st really really early! And I bet it’ll be a girl ❤️❤️ 🐮
Good luck on the birthing Thistle!!
The best beef cabbage soup I make has 16 oz of Sauerkraut with the juice in it. Gives it a wonderful twang. It is a Pillsbury recipe.
Hi from Kentucky, your garden is beautiful. We have had some pretty crazy weather here and very hungry bugs.
When I see cauliflower,I think Piccallili - a wonderful mustard pickle! Have you tried it?
August 1. Love your videos 😊
The next time you get cheese ,buy extra cheddar and shred it and freeze dry it for shelf stable cheese. It is awesome to always have some on hand. 😊
We add dried cranberries to our broccoli salad but have never tried the cheddar cheese, might need to test that out.
Aug 1 is my guess. Bless her. Salad look so good.
When will you offer the hardback of your cookbook? I noticed it was in Amazon, but you mentioned we could order from you.
I think maybe on the 3 rd of August. Cannot wait to see what the calf looks like. Best wishes!
3 of August ❤
Aug.3 for the new baby! Thanks again Chelsea!😘
So many goodies from your garden. Well done! Baby cow soon.
I’m praying that Thistle has calved! Ah! Those naughty first time heifers! They always❤ keep us guessing!
Rabbits love the clippings from tomatoes or the compost pile. I would enjoy hearing what you do with the extras when you prune the many different plants and trees.
Love your channel, I have learnt a lot from you. I gonna go with the 8th for the calf

I would say in the night either late on the 3rd (August) or early the 4th. Poor baby.
I’m going with August 3rd!
My wager- Aug 4! If I win I’d like your cookbook please! Lol
bolero pelleted was a hit for me also!!!
On the morning of Aug 2 when you go out to check on her…there will be a bull calf waiting for you. 😂🌷🇨🇦
Fun video! Your broccoli salad had my mouth watering. I’ll guess August 2 for her due date. That is our 49th wedding anniversary. 💗
My bet for the new calf: 5am August 1.
I was watching one of the medicinals channels, sorry can't remember which one. When she was harvesting her chamomile she used a cranberry picker and it was absolutely amazing how much chamomile she was able to harvest in just a few minutes with little to no effort.😊

Oh sweet girl. I would be sassy if I was carrying that too 😂. I’m gonna bet August 1st because I just want that for her. 😅
Today is 2 August and I believe the moon is full tonight so I’d say today the second I think
Leek is so delicious😊. Here in Germany there is a soup popular with it....leek, ground pork or beef or mixed, both well cooked and than cream cheese (or what we use is so called "Schmelzkäse"), vegetable broth and ready to be yummy ❤😂
My Mom was from Frankfurt and made that a lot. Delicious!
I can't wait to the new baby. 💚🌞
August 2..❤
I need on of those harvest aprons. Would like a closer look at it.
Sure!
when the moon is full !
I say August 4th for thistle 😊
Your garden is perfect. The carrots look great. 😊 Thank you for sharing.
Your sauerkraut looks more like my Coleslaw mixture before I add my mayonnaise to it. 😋

Got the recipe for the salad can't wait to try but what can I do with purple cabbage
May sound like an odd question but what microphone are you using the quality is great.
Baby calf on August 4th!
