You nailed it.. without his harmony.. Bon Jovi would not have risen where they did... Richie is the backbone of what made them so big..Clearly a better singer the Jon
Was never a bon Jovi fan,,Hendrix,,cream,,purple and sabbath were more my bag but my god this rocks..I've lost count of how many times I've watched this video..
a good friend of mine was their first sound guy, did sound for them in those days, he's also a bass player. John wanted him in the band, but at the time he refused to wear spandex or use hair spray..lol. True story. I also used to work with John in a mall in Woodbridge NJ, but that was SO long ago!
I knew that.l saw it in that guitar work. And the dude sings good. For many years he was packed in the back. Now i sit back to relish the skills and voice.
most of the tunes were largely influenced by Richie. I think he left the band once they lost their raw heavy rock sound; when they became too commercial. The reason given for his departure was the pressure of touring and missing raising his young daughter, (all true, BUT), the other reason was that Bon Jovi was becoming too commercial and appealing to a wider audience versus sticking to their early legendary roots.
His solo album Stranger in this Town.. is dam epic... So many good songs.m Rosie, Father Time, One Light Burning,, man what a voice!!!! .Clearly the backbone of JBJ...

Never a Bon Jovi fan, but always loved this song - and this version is even better than the original. This could be classic Skynyrd! He's got a fantastic country/ southern rock voice and was always a terrific guitarist
Yeap. Not a Bon Jovi fan either, except for this and I'm at Your He ands. The rest was more pop rock sounding... Jon if you're reading this, please stay out of political comments
Maybe Ritchie sambora should tour on his own, best version of this I've heard yet, no more of jons weak vocal performance especially lately. This is good ballsy rock n roll, brilliant!!!
Jons weak Vocal performance. Are you kidding? Id like to hear you sing it. Jon have one of the most powerful voices ever. You do realize he did not take Vocal lessons before the 90’s that means livin on a prayer and all the others was pure power and talent. Also the 90’ was some of the best years for Jon especially form 90-95
@@marcusolsen9860 look up his Bon Jovi cruise preformance omg God aweful Jon needs Ritchie or retire. Needs to stop acting like a liberal as well. His fans are Right center non far left wackos
2006 I went to see Bon Jovi in Coventry with my girlfriend of the time, and Richie sang I'll Be There For You, she decided then and there that Richie should have been their full time singer! It did sound good, the deeper voice brought something to it, though in Jon's defence he was suffering from hayfever that day.
Probably the greatest Live rock n roll performance in the 21st Century. Richie at 55 sounds like he’s 20-25 years younger. And his crunching guitar solos are better than anything heard in the 21st Century.
Richie's playing is amazing, and he can hold his own on the vocals too! Bon Jovi lost me when they moved to that adult contemporary/ pop rock sound. Just not the same without Richie.
I totally agree 👍. BonJovi lost me pretty much after New Jersey album. After that they started changing their sound and songs. I stayed with the older stuff.
Richie and Orianthi, a pair that will beat any hand. You both make it look so easy. One Handsome and super taleted and the other Gorgeuos and super talented. What an amazing duo💪. Richie, Mr. Sambora, your voice sounds so good 👍and hers as well. And i believe there's a lot still left in the tank !!! Not many musicians are gifted with both instrument and voice, but you two definitely were. And if you count brains and looks, that makes 4 !!! It's almost like Orianthi is the cherry on top !!! I actually run out of adjectives to describe you both. All i can say is Rock On !!! 💪 🎸💘✌!!!!!!!
That's Richie's groove. Even Phil X cannot and will never fill the vacant spot Richie left when he vacated BON JOVI THE BAND.... BON JOVI sound has never been the same without Richie... 💪👍👍💯💯
And Bon Jovi will continue being nothing because Richie doesn’t need them any more. He’s filthy rich and doing his own thing, not Jon’s thing. That’s why he left.
Man nothing beats the sound of that 12 string. Jon and Ritchie were meant to be. Not another duo that can write, sound and compilment eachother like those 2. This was a very good performance and as always delivers on the solo.
Richie (i doubt you see this?) But you are a fuckin GEM!! I'll never forget backstage on the 'Lost Higway' toir....Jon was being a COMPLETE LOSER and you came and talked with us security guards...just for shits.....LOVE your artistry....Jon is a DOUCHE!!!

Do love this guy. A guy, his voice and a guitar. His harmonies made Bon Jovi. That duo was one of the best. Separate, I'm going with Sambora.
You nailed it.. without his harmony.. Bon Jovi would not have risen where they did... Richie is the backbone of what made them so big..Clearly a better singer the Jon
This performance is pretty convincing, isn't it?
The talent in Bon Jovi.Saw him live with them on 12 occasions, right from the start when BJ supported Kiss on their UK tour 84 or 85.
They both needed each other…

Sambora was the real spirit of Bon Jovi. If you're not convinced after watching this, you're beyond helping :)
He was most Def i agree
that sound ... when he swithches the guitars you know something great is going to happen ...
He's had a great voice his whole life. Watched him play and sing when he was playing in bar bands in Jersey in the late seventies.

In that minority of people that when he presses the guitar pedal to start a solo, what follows is absolutely magical.....
Never realized what a good voice he has
knew it from 1995
I think by the sound of it he was the power behind Jon's voice TBH.
Did not realize either until I heard his solo album, his lead vocals on Father Time for example.
Me2
Check his solo material, especially the first album (Stranger In This Town), it's fantastic. He's an amazing vocalist.
I never realized how much of the Bon Jovi sound, was because of Richie's playing and vocals! Wow!

That he sings solo, maybe, but not when he’s backing up Bon Jovi.
The guitar solo sounds killer, though.
What I like about Richie is his Compassion for good music and Good taste that’s what I think of when I think of Richie and bonjovi So cool
