@osiawideman, same here. I loved to go spend the weekends with my grandparents. They had a nicer house than my parent's did. They had color TV and we didn't. I loved waking up to my Granny cooking breakfast, Pawpaw cutting grass, and watching cartoons on Saturday mornings. Then we'd go outside and play. I have an uncle that was only 4 years older than me. My mom was the oldest of her four siblings, so really my uncle was more like my brother instead of my mom's brother. We grew up together. We'd play baseball or basketball, ride bikes, or play hide and go seek. Or if the weather was bad we'd just stay inside and play down in the basement. We always found something to do. Sometimes we'd stay up late and clean the house even though there really wasn't much to clean. I'd polish furniture with pledge furniture polish. I'd clean the bathrooms. It was a gift to my grandparent's. We'd help in the garden sometimes too. Things were different with my parent's though. They didn't get along to well. That made life hard at times. Then my dad past away when I was only 10 years old in 1979. That really turned things upside down. Anyway, at least I can remember some good times back in the 70's. 😉😊

School House Rock, Mr.Rogers, Sesame Street, Electric Company, and Zoom made a huge impact on me. TV was interesting back then compared to now. There were a lot of family oriented shows such as Eight is Enough, The Partridge Family, The Brady Bunch, and Family. I am glad I grew up in that era.

As a teenager in the 60s I never got much freedom. Had to always ask permission to go anywhere on my own, and more often than not, it was denied. I heard "NO." way too often. I grew up with "NO," whether fair or not.
Not just a "feeling" of freedom, we had actual freedom. Something modern generations can't comprehend. You could get on an airplane without ID, get on a bus without ID and travel across the country. etc. etc.

Sadly every day I was stuck eating sandwiches with soggy slimy lettuce but as a kid. I was too dumb to think of a better way to ask mom to prepare the sandwiches. If I would have had mom pack lettuce in a baggie seperate from the sandwich my sandwiches could have been crispy everyday. Imagine eating a brauswager sandwich with slimy lettuce. In a way it has helped me as an adult. Cuz now day old Big Macs are no issue for me if I eat them a day after purchase.

You're a 60s baby 70s kid the 70s is definitely one of my favorite decades that I was not a part of. im 23 but i love the music of the 70s 80s 90s, every decade but those decades in particular had a unique Style and those decades are more modern anything before 1970 is prehistoric.
I was born in that same time frame and like everyone, loved to watch cartoons. So I recently discovered Metv, a nostalgic tv network that just added three hours of classic cartoons from 7AM to 11AM every Saturday morning. They show lots of great old cartoons, and they're not worried about being all politically correct, they just show them. I'm now in my 50's and I watch cartoons every Saturday I can. Give it a try and get back in touch with your inner child, or something like that.
The fact that TV shows and specials were only on at their designated time made them that much more special! It was exciting to get the TV guide with the Sunday paper and figure out when the Christmas specials you wanted to see would be on! We’d all remind each other at school and start acting them out from memory…
Yup, the best time to grow up as a child . I believe it was the last decade when kids were real kids , playing out side from morning to dinner. Riding our bikes all over town and hanging at the neighborhood parks and doing different crafts there . They had park and rec teachers then for free and they played with the kids all day to dark and did crafts and lots of games. They don't do that any more. I remember eating breakfast as fast as I could so we could go out side with all our friends. We did not need all those expensive toys f today. All we wanted was our bikes, skate board and a ball.we played freeze tag, hide and seek, kick the can , and kick ball.... we built neihborhood forts in the woods and tire swings... .we were fierce ,fast and knew how to have fun. When our parents called us in to eat we would eat as face as we could .we couldn't miss out. We all played together , the entire neighborhood ,boys and girls and we had a blast. Yes growing up as a kid in the 70s was the best and we had the best time of our lives ..

Born in 1957. I remember seeing Elvis Presley, Sly and the Family and John Denver in concert, riding my bike to the park and spending all day at the pool, listening to my 45’s in my bedroom with my wall full of black light posters from Spencer Gifts. How I miss those days of no social media and cell phones! I don’t miss the secondhand smoke even to this day. I did the hitchhiking.
Born in 72, watched re-runs of 60's TV sitcoms religiously, enjoyed riding my Huffy bike, saw the first Star Wars movie in the theaters in 77, played with all sorts of way cool toys, fondly remember 70's kid shows like The Muppet Show and New Zoo Revue, looked forward with eager anticipation to birthdays and holidays, played little league baseball, started taking guitar lessons, enjoyed hanging out in my uncle's apple orchard, was fascinated with anything related to dinosaurs, loved watching those old Godzilla movies, etc. This list could go on and on, and it just proves what an awesome decade the 70's were for me. I wish I had total recall and could remember every last detail of that time in my life!
It was a great decade and you definitely have some special memories associated with it. I feel like it was completely different than how things are now for kids. They certainly have no idea how it is to wait for the Muppet Show to come on. You certainly couldn't play it anytime you wanted. Same thing with Saturday Morning Cartoons. I was like you in that I wanted a lot of old shows in syndication. Thank you for watching and commenting!
I was also born in '72 and was also into a lot of the things you mention. Star Wars was a huge of part of my childhood and still a big part of my life....the pre-1997 Star Wars, that is. Before it went downhill beginning with the Special Editions to today's Disney Wars, which I will never acknowledge as canon or consider it as Star Wars at all.
Born in 63 and I remember all of this. What made me LOL so hard was talking about being dad's remote or having to stand there holding the antenna because the reception cleared up. It really took me back. Heck we still have one of those yellow refrigerators. It will likely outlive me.
Those old refrigerators were meant to last. My dad has a deep freezer from the early 60s still running strong. He has go manually defrost it every so often but it's no big deal. Thank you for watching and I'm glad you enjoyed this one!

I was a small child in the 70s, but so much of this resonated! I actually had a pen pal. Can you believe it? She was from Pittsburgh. I mentioned that to a much younger co-worker a few years ago, and her response made me feel so ancient - 'what's a pen pal?' she asked.
Yes that used to be a trend. Some magazines for children, would have a letters page, requests looking for someone to write to. School also promoted this idea of write to someone, from another country. Sometimes they would come and stay with you and you go and stay with them in their country
The 70's were the most free, fun, mellow and crazy decade ever. The 60's were great too, but a little more conflicted. 80's were still good, but limits on freedom were rapidly taking place. Great video!

I remember the lunch boxes and can't tell you how many times I dropped my thermos only to hear the sound of crashing glass :( Also riding our bikes all over town and on trails until it got dark. We never, ever had a concern for safety and nothing ever happened. Good times!!
They were great times! Bikes were everything to kids back then. Thank you for watching!
I was born in 2008 and I’m sad I never saw the 70s, times were everything was great
@@Justin_Vandyke If you get the chance watch the video of the 60's, it to was a Great decade. I was born in 1957, the toys in that time Were INDESTRUCTIBLE not like Today's junk. Be safe.
@@andynieuwenhuis7833 I remember when I was really little I had good toys and stuff but my sister was born in 2016 and she just has a bunch of terrible junk things
I lost my Sh*% when he mentioned Mikey killing him self on pop rock and Coke😂😂😂😂
We all believed that rumor. That and the actor who played Beaver dying in Vietnam.😂
THE 70S WERE THE BEST OF TIME. I WISH I COULD GO BACK SO BAD
Born in 57.The 70's were the best decade
I remember all of this.. I even had a mood ring.
Thank you for watching and sharing your memory of the time.
Loved the 70s!! Sure wish we could go back to it!
Thank you for watching Rob!
Women were still attractive back then 😂😍
@@paulconway384 😆 lol
Nothing good happened after 1972.
I was born in 1961 and I just relived my childhood in this video. Thank a lot
Born in early ‘62.
The 70s was an amazing decade of family, friends, and memories made!!
I’d go back in a heartbeat !!!
Thanks for the memory trip😀
Born in 1960 and Rhett you brought back such fond memories I haven’t thought about for years but I am wise enough to know how fortunate I was to live in the best era ever! You know it’s funny… sometimes you just don’t realize how good life is until that good life changes and it all goes away! But we had it very good back then and we’re fortunate to have experienced it all. Family, Friends, TV Shows, Movies, Music and all of the Coolest Bands we got to see! That only happens once in life and I Thank God I was part of it.
Thank you so much for the memories! 😊❤️
Yep I grew up in the 70s .. it was the best you name it. Best music ever. Staying out all day on the weekends and coming home when the porch came on. Cool clothes cool cars you name it.
What a great little video! The thing I really remember is the freedom that kids had back then. We would be out until 2am and no one was worried about us!
There was more freedom them. Thank you for watching Lisa!
@@RhettyforHistory and considerably less psychotics running about, I suspect, Rhetty.
I was born in 1962 and I could watch your program all day I still live in the 70s my home looks like everything that you’re showing I even have one of those green Ottomans that you showed. I absolutely love this program the 1970s was about sensory overload. Everything was lush and colorful to the extreme and it was amazing. I’d give anything to go back just for one day!!!
Living vintage allows me to be a part of it even still!!❤
Child of the 70s, high school '78-'81, college in the 80's. The best of times!
Awesome memories of the 70’s. I graduated in ‘75, so i was right there. My car had a cab and it was our way to find our friends. My handle was Songbird! Amazing times.
I really loved those CB radios. Youngsters now wouldn't understand but it was like the internet chat rooms of the time plus Google maps. They were a lot of fun and very useful. Thank you for watching!
We had a CB in our motorhome. I still remember our FCC issued call sign - KFY3714. Our handle was Hootenanny.
I remember the 70's. To me it was a greater time than I was living in than today!
Born in 1961 and I remember it all!! Thank you for this 🥰
Hello how are you doing, hope you are having a great time and some wonderful moment with your family?
Thank you for bringing me back to the best times of my life. What a time to be a kid. I can remember and relate to every single thing you covered here. Born in 1967
You're welcome and thank you for watching! I'm glad to hear you enjoyed this one.
I’m a 76 baby but so much of this is familiar to me as it all melted over to the early 80s.
I remember being so little but loving Star Wars and having my face painted as Paul Stanley from KISS. Honestly if I got hold of a Time Machine I’d go back to the 70s and never come back
Simple times but the best times. Glad I was a part of it
I was born in 1960. Being a teenager in the 70s was great, especially in the days before helicopter parents. I hitchhiked a lot and never had a bad experience, nor did we hear of any locally. There was always some story in the news from some town we never heard of with a hitchhiker disappearing, but that could never happen here…right? How innocent we were then.
Perfection once again!!! Love the Tom & Jerry frame ❤
All I can say is who ever put this together, thank you! this was a true flash from the past. It is amazing how many big stars did commercials and no one thought anything about it.
👍👍👍👍👍😊😊😊😊
I cried watching this video I miss those days and I wish I could go back and be a kid again.
