    TIP--place potatoes in bowl 1St... then>>>add mayo sauce a little at a time.... so its right consistency. other than that this recipe is ok.

    There are 100 ways to make potato salad but now THIS is real potato salad! I'm a true southern girl...born and raised in Nashville TN...some ppl may complain it's too mushy but that's why it is a "make ahead" dish...it will thicken in the fridge and allow all the flavors to meld.....if you like it chunkier of course you can make it that way as well...but this is how it SHOULD be

      @thebigeasychef  9 років тому

      Ronda Goodlet Hi Ronda Yes, you are correct the flavor of the salad is great, and I know in the video the salad looks loose, after the salad sets in the fridge it tightens up, and you can always add more potatoes to make the salad to your desired thickness. Thank you for your comment and for viewing my video. The BEC

    Hi there! Happy 4th of July! Just wanted to say I just finished making this and it tastes very good. I used 6 ginormous potatoes. I probably could have used the 7th potato I bought, but I like the consistency the way it is with the amount I used. This didn't turn out soupy at all. As I was stirring all the ingredients it started to thicken up. So to all the people who are saying this looks soupy or mushy, just use more potatoes. Simple. Thank you so much for this recipe. Very tasty!

      why do you have to be under 21 to know what vomit looks like ?

    • @2dasimmons
      @2dasimmons 10 років тому +1

      Because only someone VERY young would make that kind of icky comment at a cooking video uploaded to show viewers how to make something TASTY. Older folk have matured and know not to leave ugly/icky comments at a cooking video. There's a young woman here on UA-cam, Laura Vitale of Laura's Kitchen who made something and a viewer left a comment similar to yours. It turned out he was 11 years old. I didn't realize that commentators at UA-cam videos could be that young. Now I can tell by the comment. MY POINT: MOST FOLD KNOW WHAT VOMIT IS BUT ONLY THE VERY YOUNG WOULD COMPARE IT TO FOOD. Take care.

    • @nopotchef
      @nopotchef 10 років тому +1

      I feel I am quite qualified to make that statement as I myself am indeed a cook have been for 25 yrs and that potato salad looked like someone had just threw up it looked more like egg salad than potato salad !!

    • @2dasimmons
      @2dasimmons 10 років тому +2

      Congratulations on being a cook. Surely we are from different generations as it used to be said: IF YOU CAN'T SAY ANYTHING NICE, DON'T SAY ANYTHING AT ALL. That would also be good practice for 2014. The UA-cam chef's potato salad looked delicious to me and I appreciated the time and effort he put into making his video. But even if I hadn't I could not see comparing any of his food to vomit although I can see why you said it looked like egg salad. At any rate the best to you and your cooking experience. Good-bye.

  • @tikitavi7120
    @tikitavi7120 9 років тому

    Okay, if its a little too mushy simply adjust the potatoes to your own tastes. The recipe itself is still valid, although I would have backed off a little on the mayo.

    • @thebigeasychef
      @thebigeasychef  9 років тому

      Hi Tiki, Thank you for your comment, you are right if it is too mushy for your taste then use less mayonnaise. The only regret that I have about this video, is that I should of shot the salad several hours later, as then the potatoes had absorbed more of the mayonnaise making the salad dryer. Again thank you for your comment. The BEC

      @thebigeasychef  4 роки тому +1

      Hi Heidi, yes I get a lot of comments about the salad looking to mussy, however I should of shot some video the next day, as the salad was nice and firm, prefect for serving with an ice cream scoop. Try tossing some roasted bell peppers in your salad, and see if you like that touch. Thank you for your comment and being kind, thanks also for watching. Be safe out there, The BEC

      @@thebigeasychef I have to admit that I never expected you to respond to my comment seeing how this video is over 7 years old. I, too, am a chef, and was taught in school to never add product to the dressing, but to add dressing to the product. You can always add more but once it's in there you can't take it out. When you dumped all the potatoes into the dressing, I was saying to myself, don't do it, don't do it. And then you did it!
      I will try the peppers next time. Thanks for the tip.

I really had to laugh at your comment about the "don't do it", yes you made a great point, sometimes I just don't think that far ahead, I guess hindsight would of helped a lot there. I imagine that there are as many ways to make potato salad as there are chefs and cooks out there. German potato salad is completely different from American style potato salad and it differs from region to region in the US, just like all dishes. Chef is just sharing HIS version. Have some respect, people.
    Thank you, Chef! I think it looks delish. It's very similar to mine.

    Very interesting recipe. Like other comments made everyone makes their P salad differently. For instance my Mom used to make wonderful yet simple P salad and she would do the opposite with the relish, she would use a small amount of actual sweet pickle juice and always celery seed. I like the idea of using parsley. Thanks
