Thanks Jonathan! ( Just to add a little information ) : Each country in Europe has it's own Copyright Association. Gema is referring to Germany, SIAE is referring to Italy etc.
Definitely a great and very informative video. I'll remember this as I journey down the audio/mastering engineer road.
So right. I hope all mastering engineers think and do the same as you!
Thank you so much for this information! You have a way about you, to clearly define what it is these things do. It was very helpful. Thank you!
Hi Jonathan,
Thank you for sharing!
I've just read your book and desired to compliment you on it. Truly an insight in to mastering process and a book full of fun facts! Thank you!
Hey man thanks for sharing that knowledge & laying it out so clear too.
clear and uderstandable, thanks jonathan, i`ve just send it to all my customers (saves me a lot of time explaining it) if you ever come to basel switzerland, there is a drink waiting for you!
If you are not sure how to embed the codes. MP3Tag allows you to embed extended fields. If you are a recording artist, just send the code with your music submission, we can add it to your song. We just do not do the metadata, since we do not know who wrote the track, etc.
It's good to know about ISRC codes. But seems like it's easier on the internet to learn how aliens have build pyramids than how to just embed a ISRC code on a WAV file (by yourself)
Green Before Did you figure it out?
@@jesse4238 ISRC codes can be encoded to mp3, m4a, AIFF, AAC, FLAC, and some others, but not WAV. I use the Codec Toolbox Manager by Sonnox. if you convert encode a WAV it'll be converted to aiff or m4a
@@dariuslipsey3217 why is wav exception?
Jesse XXX program coding specifics way above my pay grade. the ISRC website specifically does not recommend WAV files for embedding. www.isrc.com/embed_ISRC.html
@@txbu8101 One things wrong about this article: Many in the music industry still ask for WAV files before considering any other format due to a misconception that MP3 files are inferior to WAV quality. This is NOT true any longer. The MP3 format accommodates various levels of quality, called a bit rate. // Although the highest bit on mp3, you will hear the difference between mp3 and wave file if you have an ear. So, please be careful. It seems those people are not professional / not trained enough.
great and informative video!
well done lads, I added it to my playlist, great value.
must have been nice to have had the opportunity to work with the Nirvana guys. I bet that was an experience.
Absolutely, thanks for asking
Thanks for the good info!
Thanks for sharing!!
thank you so much for the vids, they are very helpful
thx so much!
If You Dont Have This How Does Ascap Keep Track Of Things ?
Thank you 💞
very nice.
Hallo Jonathen,
I successfully completed the mastering course at Berkleemusic, which Marc-Dieter Einstmann and you teach, so, your name is well-known to me.
You mention that the ISRC license has to be obtained from the GEMA in Europe. Actually, that is not correct. A registrant code has to be obtained from the IFPI.
Best regards,
Patrick
I need to know how to put the ISRC and metadata on our tracks. How do I do that in our recording program in the proces of exporting? We use cubase 10
Joe C ok thanx
Thnk you so much for explaining, Can you tell me whats the best Software for PC to insert a ISRC?
As far as I'm aware GEMA is only germany. PRS in UK and different in most other countires in EU.
Thanks for the video, and I'd like to ask please; if I record a song in a studio in 2007 but I publish on you tube in 2014 , so, what is the ISRC code year? 2007 or 2014 ? Thank you
Is there an easy way to fin d ISRC and UPC codes of songs without having access to the distributor account it was uploaded from? Must I ask all my collaborators for these codes each time?
Hi Jonathan, I am busy with ISR codes, can another person access the info 'embedded' in my songs and change it to their own code and basically steal the royalties?
I use Wavelab to line-up songs to a CD master. But I can'ty inscribe CD text on it. Can you help me finding the good way to go?
John Can I add this video to my blog?
my problem is how do u do it how do input the code
Hi, I need to know how to embed an ISRC into a video file (whether wmv; mp4, mov, etc) before to upload it to UA-cam. Thank you!!
Excuse me, but how the companies do to track the songs when they are streamed or downloaded on youtube, vimeo, etc...? Thank you!
As a mastering engineer how do you acquire the codes? Is that something you can do yourself?
YOU GET GIVEN THE CODES BY THE COMPANIES AUTHORISED TO DO SO. where do you live ?
