Wouldn't a cotter pin and a nail worked just as well? Besides that, if you pre-heat the copper wire before you attempt to tin it, the solder flows much smoother and faster.

I have an amazing tip for anyone who have problem with solder not sticking to metals to be connected with soldering. It works even on stainless steel surfaces.
1/ Use a cotton swab to apply some LIME-A-WAY onto the metals to be soldered.
2/ Wait a few seconds for the acid to work before soldering.
3/ If the solder still does not stick to a metallic surface, scratch the surface with a utility knife and repeat 1 and 2.

Also for that gage wire, you don't use a soldering iron also known as a soldering pencil. You have minimum use a soldering gun with broader tips and higher heat ranges. Just get another tip - that one is clearly damaged (probably used for poking holes in different substances (Leather, plastic etc)).
Soldering Iron tips have a very thin coating that can be easily damaged - people think if they press harder with a tip then it will work better, but by doing that you are damaging the tip. Always make sure the tip is well 'wetted' with solder before trying to transfer heat to the object you want to solder. Always clean your tip, after use, by wiping against a special wet sponge - turn off your tip and then quickly put some solder on it; this helps cut down on oxidation of the tip as it cools down.

I'll point out two things: The soldering iron is too small to heat the cable and make the tin adhere. Second: You must heat the cable well and bathe it with a stripper, cleaner or resin. We already see that your invention fails to bathe the conductor in tin as it should. I insist there is no proportion between the section of cable to be tinned and the soldering iron.

$6 spark plug, 25 minutes time, to ruin your soldering iron. Replacement tips for that soldering iron are $7 to $10 for a set of 10. Genius is not a term that should be used as a title for this video.

First, that was a lot of trouble to go thru for a lousy solder job. Second, it the jobber had taken the trouble to use soldering flux on both the soldering iron and the copper wire, it would have been a more professional job.

He should learn to solder. The material shoul be heated to accept the solder. Correct method.

Would have been quicker and better if better soldering techniques such as preheating the copper wire strands....and removing solder tip and using that sand paper on the tip...then reinsert and reuse the original solder tip.

    そもそも半田ゴテの使い方が間違ってるんだよ。コテ先にハンダを塗るんじゃなくて、コテ先で対象物を十分に温めてから、ハンダを対象物に直接付けないと。

Get a temperature controlled iron, they help reduce tip oxidation.

The amount of time he spent heating the wire up 1st time was significantly less than the second , still failing to properly heat the wire both times --- sorry I watched this LOL

Well its called soldering flux n you dip your tip n it literally makes a wire suck up solder like its magic. Whatever just happened here was one of the most insanely ludicrous things I've ever had the misfortune of watching
