Thanks buddy, next video online Tuesday evening, hope you'll enjoy... few jobs to do, but edging ever closer just in time for summer haha... have a great week yourself, D&Px
"....crowning glory...." You have certainly turned the bike into a crowning glory. Best word to describe it, 'brilliant" . I can see why you have a smile on your face. If it were my bike, I'd have the same smile.
Just looking spectacular and way better than my initial thoughts on the paint scheme. The gloss came up brilliantly, cant wait to see the finished project. Love ya work man
Thank you buddy, thats very kind.. im happy with the outcome too, and looking forward to doing the tank next.. take care and have a good weekend.. Del.
I love that there's the best part of 20 years between those two bits of metal being knocked into shape and coming out of the factory, but you'd never know that they weren't both brand new. Amazing!
Wow Del. Let me say that again. Wow Del. Just beautiful. Del you are really talented. The paint is just awesome. The whole bike is going to be just awesome. Getting my popcorn ready for the tank video. Thank you Del for showing us all your tips and trades on this bike build. Still looking for that license plate for you. Need to get up in the attic.
Thank you so much buddy, that is very kind of you to say, it's about showing some old school simple skills anyone can do at home, and in a world of technology, we should never forget how to do things ourselves! No rush on the plate, just when you're ready, but we'd honoured to have it displayed on the wall.. have a great weekend, tank video online Tuesday evening! D&Px
Wow and i thought before the polish really nice now i see how gorgeous its really going to be and now i see Del passing the camera over top of the fender how that design you did reflects different colors of the light at unique angles i love it awsome i mean AWSOME beautiful job Del
Thanks Chris, i figured that leaving it in plain clear coat, and not a tinted candy colour, it reflects all the colours around it.. its gonna look great under a blue sunny sky.!
I'm turning 60 and i must admit that is the best rattle can paint I have seen +1 to you as a retired welder for general dynamics / sub builder USA And in my youth bodywork jobs learning to paint BASF / Glasurit on Mercedes from craftsman you are blessed ,Thank god and keep on Brother.
Thank you so much for those very kind sentiments Jim, Its no skill really, im sure you agree.. just years of practice and taking the time to lay it up properly.... Take care and have a great weekend Si.. all the best.. Del.
Absolutely brilliant 👍 I’ve enjoyed watching this build so much, and in particular this paint job, it’s unbelievable what can be achieved with rattle cans and a few tools at home 😮 I hope you stick with this Del, can’t wait to see it all done buddy 👍
Thank buddy, ill keep this for now i recon, it looks a lot better than i had hoped and really gives the bike and industrial feel... just the tank to do, and then just final assembly..!
Absolutely amazing. Love watching your videos. Gives me great inspiration when working on my Honda CRF 450x supermoto conversion. Keep up the excellent work.
Can't believe how well that's came out! Be careful putting the fuel in as that lacquer won't be cured and can make hell of a mess (I've done it) your becoming a pro at the painting game!
Looks swesome! Can't wait to see it all together. When me and my buds tried clearcoating over bare metal back in the day,we'd always get rust on the metal under the clear. Good luck.
Hi Byron, thak you most kindly Sir, that's very generous of you, it's been a fun build even if it's a short one! Looking forward to getting it on road and enjoying the sunshine! After all, that's what they're for aye?!
you need to polish them up with a real compound as in some lights it still looks badly scratched up. also when flatting/colour sanding its best to use straight lines as the mop head will only remove scratch marks when it cuts across them (although not so important on soft paints like rattle can paints). also its not worth polishing/waxing the paint until its fully dry as if you do your sealing the surface and marking it harder for the solvents to evaporate.
Ross lt would be nice to see Del do a collab with a detailer. Someone like forensics detailing to get some tips. I personally would never put t-cut near my paint work. There are a lot of better products out there that will really give him the glass look he thinks he’s looking at. Nothing against Dels work but he could take it to another level with some detailing tips

I really liked the white paint and thought it was real class. Thought it might be a mistake painting the hog but I love what you have done Del !! Thanks mate . Can't wait till you fire it up and would love to hear / see what the original owners think ? Much respect to them for the miles and memories and care they shared and to you for being you. Peace love and split windscreen Morris minors ..jj :)
Hi Jj, Thank you so much for those kind words sir, im happy that is has come out right, and looks good on the bike.. (i still have the tank to do), and its been really rewarding to bring an idea to life and see if it works out... I too would love to show it to the previous owners, they are lovey people and the bike formed a massive part of their lives to two decades... so once its running and riding, ill drop them a line and tell them im finished, maybe include a picture, and if they would like, then ill ride down to Cornwall and see them... but they were heart broken to see it go, they had no choice, and i wouldn't want to make them feel sad and remind them of something they have relegated to the past... it'll need to be handled considerately and sensitively... so ill see how they feel.... Thanks again buddy, and have a great weekend.. Del.
Thank you Ron, always good to hear from you Brother, It's slowly resembling the vision i started with.. so lets hope it all hangs together once its done.!
This project has really gripped me and in fact I look every day it see if the next episode is up..(no pressure though). The design and paintwork quality is lovely and good luck with the tank. Well done mate Kind regards.

That’s a lovely finish Del. I use the Autoglym stuff it’s great. A professional finish from rattle cans, you are the man. So much care and patience.👍🏻🏍
Hi Dan... not skill.. just practice buddy.. and maybe a little patience too..!! Thanks for your long and loyal support buddy.. have a great weekend.. D&Px
Hi Michael, thank you for that kind sentiment buddy.. the bike was a central part of two wonderful peoples lives for almost 20 years, i do plan to show it to them once its finished, maybe even if i just send them a picture.. but their reason for selling means they can't use it now even if they wanted to....which is a shame.. so i hope ive done it justice for them too.. This'll be a keeper for sure. !
That's an awesome 1st polish 👍. Can't wait to see if you put original seat on 😉. You need to name this beauty & get it stitched into the seat side panels tastefully . Thanks for all your's and Penny's hard work.
Hi Daniel, Thanks for your kind words, i hadn't thought to name the bike.. it seems to fit with Ratbikes, but no regular custom bikes... but maybe you're right, it would give it some identity, and it has an awesome story behind it too... I wont be going with the original seat, its a bit huge for the bike now its all stripped and minimal, but i do know a very talented pin striper who could do me a cool moniker on the side panels..!!! Take care buddy, and have a great weekend... D&Px
Thanks buddy, very kind, no logos, it's good enogh as it is, I made the side panel smaller than the usual designs on tank sides so it doesn't need one!
And celebrate you should.... if the tank comes out anything like those mudguards ... really smart, I did wonder where you were going with the swirly metal circles but the madness proved good... outstanding.
Thanks Terry, very kind mate, it's hard to explain a vision when you've got to do the work in steps, but really please with how it's come out... been working on the tank all day, editing to do now, video online Tuesday, hope you enjoy!
Oh yeah Dave, you're dead right mate, it doesn't take a second to over do it with the paper and bust through it, but it's easily repaired and no drama... just patience, practice and a bit of confidence! Thanks for watching mate, much appreciated!
Hi, nice job Dell, it looks great and unique on the bike. Will it stay matt if you don't polish after sanding ? any problem if you leave it like that ?? thanks for the video . Gus
Hi Gus... thanks for your kind words.. ans yes, it will stay satin finish if you don'tr polish it..but it also shows micro scratches in the finish, so its not a usable satin finish, if you wanted that, you can just buy satin lacquer...
Hi Dell,I have a question for you,I have a Fatboy 2003 with solid wheels .I would like to get the alloy rims really shinny , they are clean and tidy and in great condition. What would you recommend to do.Mark( Shadow)
Hi Mark, if I remember rightly, the silver coloured 03 FatBoy wheels were a plain polished finish from the factory, they just tended to go a little grey over the years... but you can restore them and make them really good looking again... try and get yourself a 3.5" polishing mop that goes in your electric drill ( you know what I mean by a mop, like a stack of cotton cloth stitched together to make a little wheel), you can either buy the proper polishing soap, to even just Autosol would do, and then by rotating the wheel after lifting the back of the bike you can hold the spinning mop against the smooth alloy surface and with a big of effort you'll bring them up like a mirror... obviously you'll never shine up that rough section in the centre, but if you use Autosol on a small boot brush, maybe with a little water to loosen it, and make it runny like paint, then you could scrub up those centres and the grey will turn to a nice bright silver... just elbow grease mate, but the results could be stunning if you took your time... good luck with it!
@@Moonfleet41 Thanks Del I will be having a go tomorrow, bye the way your bike looks great , love the vids you put up and in layman's terms makes things easier .
Thanks Del for the advice . Been out in the garden today nice bit off sun.cant post you a picture but the front came out great now for the rear.Regards mark.
Gary, thank you so much for that awesome sentiment, Milo was a father figure to anyone in his field, not to mention an inspiration to us all with his wonderful chilled out attitude to life... Sorely missed indeed. This has been an amazing outcome, it was just a winder makeover, and we're both really shocked at the results... its going to be a keeper for sure... Take care and see you soon brother.. D&Px
Awesome paint Job a have a 05 dyna super glide custom I’m going to be doing same as you did to yours Love it it’s something deferent I do have a question the metal cap that you install on the rear fender rails what’s size are those where you got them from need for my bike,Keep videos coming can wait for the final transformation Thank you very much for all the info and tricks you show all your viewers 😎👍
Thanks for your kind words Joe, and im really glad you're gonna do yours too.. it'll look awesome buddy... Those little snap in caps came with the bike, they were already there, so no idea where they came from... but the hole is 10mm, so im sure if you can find them for sale, then you would just order them by hole size... maybe double check the holes you have are also 10mm... they are the same as the snap cap you push into the alun screws that hole your handlebars on... they keep the dirt and water out of the screws as they face upwards....i know you can buy them from Harley with the bar and shild logo on (probably for £5 each lol)... but any steel cap will do and im sure they're cheap... Take care and good luck with your sir.. have a good weekend.. Del.
Moonfleet41 Thanks for the information I’ll check with my local dealer for the hole plug caps and awesome videos you’re truly a master in what you do that’s what I call real talent 👍
Hi buddy, if they're already chrome, you need to scuff them up pretty aggresively, and then use the gold oldSimoniz Tough Paint as it's durable and flexible and goes on bare metal... takes about a week to cure and fit them back on very carefully... good luck with it mate!
Awesome as ever del....! You should consider turning a little stainless steel cap for the hole on the rear mudguard instead of the black plastic one. It would be more discreet and blend in with the design.... Maybe.....
Excellent job Del, looks bloody great mate. Looking forward to seeing the tank finished. Stay safe. Cheers

Sorely missed indeed. This has been an amazing outcome, it was just a winder makeover, and we're both really shocked at the results... its going to be a keeper for sure... Take care and see you soon brother.. D&Px

Wow! Awesome man! Cheers from Texas!
Thanks Ted, great to hear from you sir,, thank you for your support.. Del.
I wasn't sure if I'd like that when you started it but that finish is absolutely stunning you must be so happy can't wait to see it in the sun :-)
Sure thing buddy, it has surprised a lot of people and none more than me! It's an idea what seems to have just worked really well...!
Del.

Thanks for the information I’ll check with my local dealer for the hole plug caps and awesome videos you’re truly a master in what you do that’s what I call real talent 👍
@@ico0113 Blimey Joe, that's very kind of you, in a world of increasing technology it's great to get busy the hand skills now and again.
Nice finish bud . Well done 👍
Thanks mate, hope all well with you, D&Px
Looking amazing del 👍
Cracking job Dell, looks great.
Thanks buddy, much appreciated!
From a rattle can! Well impressed. Very good indeed.
Thanks buddy!
Hi Del love your videos what would you recommend on how to paint handlebars
Hi buddy, if they're already chrome, you need to scuff them up pretty aggresively, and then use the gold oldSimoniz Tough Paint as it's durable and flexible and goes on bare metal... takes about a week to cure and fit them back on very carefully... good luck with it mate!
@@Moonfleet41 Thanks for the advice m8 keep up the good work looking forward to seeing the end result of the Harley
Quality job, well done
Awesome as ever del....! You should consider turning a little stainless steel cap for the hole on the rear mudguard instead of the black plastic one. It would be more discreet and blend in with the design.... Maybe.....
Good thinking buddy, all little finishing touches for later, that will really bring it together, thanks for the nudge Drew!
