I admire your care, attention to detail and seemingly unstoppable energy , mainly cause am a lazy b , I love to see this in old school disguise, like an old duo glide
Hi buddy, hat a wonderful bike the DuoGlide, but this is the wrong bike for that style, wide slim forks, tall skinny wheel on the front, ducktail fender, I guess all of which could be changed but, of course, I should have ust bought the right bike and save the money, maybe something like a FatBoy or Deluxe, but one thing that can't be changed is the extra rake on the forks.. the Dyna Wide Glide has a different frame and wouldn't lend itself to an FL style... going for modern, sleek look, something a little bit more street than it is! Thanks for watching...
Hey Del, looking like it's going to be interesting project. I'm not a Harley man at all, but you made this project enjoyable and great to watch. Look forward part 2 and to all your vids.

A lot of people would have considered that lot as cheap tat and just binned the lot but you knew it's back story and treated it with respect, well done Dell...
Too right Gareth, we spent some time with the lovely people who owned it and it was sad to hear the tragic story at how they could no longer enjoy the bike, but not only that, how many adventures they'd had on the bike over so many years... so naturally it had meaning, which is to be respected aye?

Hi Alan, having met them, I think they wanted a clean break from the bike, and they have many fond memories of it in many other ways... I do have a few thigns I could send them though, and will send them some pictures of it when it's finished, which they did ask us to do...
wow it is amazing what you can stick on a bike. so celtic - is that specific to Ireland, wales, England or Scotland. an American asking lol. just such interesting history in the U.K. looking good on the refresh.
Hi Robert, basically explained, and probably over simplified, but the Celts were the ancient tribal peoples of the British Isles, before the division in to kingdoms, they were displaced by the Romans and after that, the Vikings, and then the Normans, leading to the society we are today... and the word today is given to any iconography that paradies the style, and decoration, of those tribal people from a time before religion.
Del, thinking about your long-term project I have an idea. We know that biking in the UK and elsewhere is suffering from less and less young 'uns getting into biking. The reasons are many but one of them has to be the cost of a new bike (£3k upwards for something tasty) and the issue with reliability of cheaper bikes that have been thrashed. So how about a project to cheaply sort out of decent starter bike, get it up to spec, add some smart custom changes to make it better for riding, safer and maybe a bit more pep? This would give you lots of opportunity to show your skills in engine tweaking, adding electrics and perhaps making special parts to add useful stuff like luggage, security etc. Perhaps not as sexy as a loony bobber but I reckon it would be incredibly useful for the thousands of kids who are currently put off biking by perceptions of complexity and cost. Might also relieve a bit of pressure off your heavily battered wallet.
Hi buddy, something we've always toyed with for sure, but one of the biggest prohibitor for younger riders doing modifications and upgrades is how savagely the insurance companies will then kick them in the nuts for it... and that's just accessorising, I can't imagine the reception a teenager would get trying to present a custom bobber learner bike ot the insurance companies, probably laugh him off the phone... but therein lies the challenge Jonathan, so in the Spring when this one is rolling again, a smaller, more cost effective build of something financially manageable and ubiquitous is on the cards!
Thanks Andy, should have called it Project Advent Calendar lol Seriously, we know we won't please everyone with the choices, but we try to have a good mix of bikes as much as we can!
Hi Scott, good to hear from you again... it's amazing how rolling a Harley back on the lift has woken up our Harley owning viewers, good to hear from you Sir, all the best..

One of those times when eBay's a godsend! Ha. Not into Harley Davidson but it does look better already. A must for any garage, a tub of wipes and a vacuum. Take care.
Hi Coggy, is that you mate? Bloody great to hear from you brother... how's things? Did you and the boys get our club off the ground? Be great to catch up, drop us an email if you get the chance... delboysgarage@yahoo.com..... don't do private FB anymore since 'you know what'...! Be good to catch up... look forward to it, chat soon, Del
Looking forward to catching up this series Del, one of my favourite bikes - and nearly bought a number of years ago - was a cut back, dragster barred Dyna so interested to see your take on this machine. Also big respect for honouring the previous owners who clearly loved and cherished the bike; were you not tempted to return some of the embellishments in a memorial frame? (no disrespect meant, just interested)
Hi Gareth, I've always loved the WideGlide style, it's as close to a chopper as the factory would ever get, and you can take them that way pretty easily, but I much prefer the flat bar drag sled look myself, long way to go, and I wanna keep it as simple as possible, toning down some of the bling to keep it purposeful! The previous owners were happy for us to take the bike and take on it's new journey, they said their goodbyes and wished us the best of luck, we didn't want to harp on at them about it, as they were very upset anyway, but we will show them the bike when it's done!
The name eludes me at the moment although we use a spray for removing silicone and adhesive. Look up silicone removal spray. Absolutely perfect for taking off any sticky mess from stick on items
Geez there was some stuff that came off ay Del, maybe the previoys owner would like those gremlin/guardian bells returned, very sentimental to some folk. It was good that the egress came off pretty easily & didn't leave any scars as such. All the best both x👍👍😎
(P) A good start, love getting to know a new machine! I’m sure the previous owners would love a surprise parcel delivered with all their small trinkets back 😀 keepsakes for life.
Hi mate, actually, they wanted us to take the bike on new adventures and they were happy for the trinkets to go to new homes and make memories for others.. I think they wanted to draw a line under it all, and enjoy new adventures themselves... !
There's already plenty of Bobbers and Cafe Racers, I'd like to see something more along the lines of a flat tracker although I suppose a lot of work would have to go into raising the bike and re-doing the frame for that. Just a thought!
Hi buddy, I have considered all styles and any sort of upright street bike is out of the question as the head stock on the Dyna Wide Glide has too shallow a rake and the bike would look daft... all the other Dynas have considerably less rake and would lend themselves well, but these were deisgned from the outset to have a 'chopper styling', so I have a perfect theme in mind for just this kind of bike!
Hi Russell, in this case buddy it is a retro fitted pressed tin item, as I've taken it off now in readiness for the next video, and it's a horrible mess underneath... there are chrom pulleys naturally, but sadly this ain't one of them!
Sure thing Pete, the jade rosary is a keeper, it hangs in the garage now as a little good luck charm and am keeping a few of the other Christian items too for luck... have a good week mate...
For your next project what do think about bobbers? Yamaha V star 1100 or 650( I think they call them dragstars over there) make cool ones and you can find them pretty cheap.
And so it begins! Tucking into my dinner and watching this, lovely. You should send the keepsakes back to the Chap if you still have his address, I'm sure he'd appreciate it; I know I would. (Only 6 minutes into the video so forgive me if you've mentioned this).
Thank you buddy... the keepsakes will be going to new homes, like the bike did... we think after meeting the wonderful couple that owned the bike, that they needed a clean break from the bike, as they were sad to see it go... they told us to take the bike and enjoy our journey with it... and some of the pieces off the bike will go to new homes and also start a new journey, making memories for new people! Glad you're enjoying the video, more to come!
Bitter sweet eh? - so many miles, so much time together; & bless them for treating the machinery so well, respect. On the other hand, the add ons etc. Well, while not quite cheesy enough to be 'Cathedral City', as a 'Wide Glide Minster' it certainly had some 'presence' . . . in fact, try a Mock Tudor tank, Brookes bicycle saddle & whitewall tyres. Trust me, I have taste : ) x
Hi Jeff, not sure what I'm gonna do with the bars yet, hadn't planned to get rid of them completely, at this point... so will let you know, thanks buddy, all the best, Del
(P) Del, i know you said you weren't going weigh it etc, but bloody hell lol, id love to know how light it is now, even after just today. Thats alot of memories you've just removed, I wonder how that guys feeling seeing it all slowly removed.
Hi Michael, I'm not sure they're You Tube type people, but am doing this mindful they might be and may be watching... the point is it's their memories, not mine... and keepsakes don't mean anything if they're not yours... we hope they approve with way, they told us to take the bike on it's next journey... ! All the best, D&Px
Bought a 2000 1200XL and had to do the same removal of all the chrome stuff. That small clock is the same as the one that came on mine. Keeps real good time. According to legend your not supposed to remove the Gremlin bell.
Just moved them to another bike mate after cleaning and polishing, so they didn't leave the garage and will ride with me through all the dark months, rather than lanquish in the garage! Ride safe...
Hi George, I think they were lead or pewter, great top with the fishing line, thanks! They have all, sadly, now found a home now I'm afraid, so I can't send any to you... it seems they were quite popular!
Wow I was enjoying this so much, Del! 22 minutes just flew by... can’t wait for where you’re going to take this FOXDAWG project. Quoting Bruce Willis, I see... btw, he grew up just a few miles from my wife’s childhood rural home in deep southern New Jersey. You might want to keep one of those Christian symbols you took off the bike and put it in your pocket for when you ride. Seems they did a good amount of protecting the former riders, you know? We have Christian biker clubs here in the states, like Bikers for Jesus, et al. Same there? Have a nice week, both of you! 🏍👍🏍
Hi Gary, I have indeed kept hold of the large crucifix on the front face of the battery crate and a few of the other icons, and they may well accompany me on future rides... we do have those kind of groups here, we have the CMA (Christian Motorcyclists Association), they ride with a large white cross back patch and ride out for Sunday prayer meets... have met many of them on my biker travels over the years, and always found them to be wonderful people...!
Thanks Stu, it's endless mate, but also this bike to this couple was a journey for them and they collected keepsakes along the way and treated themselves to parts!... now time for sleek, modern look! Hope the family are all well, D&Px
im enjoying this already , being a harley owner i can relate to what you are doing and wish to achieve , personally i would put bigger apes on as i had wide bars on mine and found in straight line ok but corners with such a heavy bike made it very hard work and ofcourse she should be painted black , but thats all down to personal taste ,
Cheers Mike, ape hangers are awesome, but not so practical aye?! Got a outline in my head what I'm gonna do, nice modern sleek lines... glad to hear you're enjoying it mate!
grate video as always dell, cant wait to see how it turns out, deffo better without all that rubbish on it....... just wondering any way can do a video on gear linkages ? as every bike ive had with them on you can guarantee they really worn or in some cases unrideable
Hi buddy, that would be an interesting viedo... but so many bikes are all different, and generally speaking there isn't much but replacement to be done... anything like that we'll always do if it comes up!
this is looking like another great project ......love the way you think about what you intend to create and for us seeing it unfold .brilliant stuff

Thank you brother, wise words well said indeed, most of them are blind, as well as stupid, but at least they'll hear you coming lol
One of those times when eBay's a godsend! Ha. Not into Harley Davidson but it does look better already. A must for any garage, a tub of wipes and a vacuum. Take care.
great video as always!! I enjoy watching your channel! I had the same stock bike made it to a nice Bobber!!
Job well done Del. A minimalistic thing of beauty.
Can't wait to see it evolve. Great start to what will certainly be a great project. Cool!
Will be watching this one with much interest!!!
I just noticed you're a fellow lefty. A wise man once told me, "Everyone is born right-handed. Only the truly gifted overcome it."
haha like that John!
This is going to be a fun project to watch bro
Really enjoyed that one! 👌 can’t wait for the next one!
Thanks buddy, it's great to be in to a new project and give it a new lease of life, D&Px
Speed limit is 30 Mph, Harley's do the best you can!
Wow how original PMSL 😳
Peter Carl Böer hardlymovinson 😂😂
Just a winter project? Let's wait and see! 😀😉 Greatings from Germany, have fun! 👍
Of course if you put it back to stock you'll have the cleanest custom FXDWG on the road :)
Not exactly stock buddy, gonna modernise a few things and mix up the style a little, but will be a lot less cluttered than it is no!
Amazing how much stuff comes off
Love the Harley del. what ever you do it will look awesome. 👍
Appreciate your faith in us buddy, hope you'll enjoy!
Cool bike. I’m pretty sure that the chrome plate on the rear drive pulley is stock. I’ve had a Dyna and a Softail and they both had one.
Hi Russell, in this case buddy it is a retro fitted pressed tin item, as I've taken it off now in readiness for the next video, and it's a horrible mess underneath... there are chrom pulleys naturally, but sadly this ain't one of them!
Love watching you I've learned so much
Foxdawg love it del it's looking better the more you take off I like the minimalist look on cruises fab so far man. 👍👍
Thanks buddy, the de-cluttering is quite theraputic too!
Cool bike brother 👍 can’t wait to see what you do to it...take care my brother
Hi Brother, thank you for that, looking forward to getting in to it!
Thank you Delboy - great vid!
Thanks Bonny, glad you enjoyed !
[p] Nice job Del . Some nice bits and pieces . Respect to the Rosebery beads
they mean a lot to many people.
White walls, Sooo 1950's
looking like its going to be a great project dell if you getting rid of them bars after some for my sportster mate 😎
Hi Jeff, not sure what I'm gonna do with the bars yet, hadn't planned to get rid of them completely, at this point... so will let you know, thanks buddy, all the best, Del
Good man for doing it all respectfully - love your channel mate
Thanks Tommy, very kind of you mate... both of us are always graetful for what we have and treat everything with respect!
Good God, that thing is busier than a bishop's hat! You'll still be finding trinkets and bits of jewelry for months!
You're not wrong mate, and the Bishop of Bath & Wells too I'd imagine!
@@Moonfleet41 Yes, the correct thing to do. Don't want to tempt fate...Just saying..
You could use a thin fishing line to remove the tags and maybe the silicone. Are the tags that are maybe from lead available?
Hi George, I think they were lead or pewter, great top with the fishing line, thanks! They have all, sadly, now found a home now I'm afraid, so I can't send any to you... it seems they were quite popular!
@@Moonfleet41 thank you for your answer! Greetings from Greece!
@@the_poolmaster Great to hear from you all the way from sunny Greece... send us some sunshine !!
@@Moonfleet41 give me an address!!
Moonfleet41 great re crucifix! Yes good people. 👍
Love the new project, I have a 98 fwgwg.
Cool bike buddy, and glad you're enjoying the videos!
I didn’t know you could get so many trinkets for a Harley, much better without them tho buddy, great vid as always, regards Stu 👍
Thanks Stu, it's endless mate, but also this bike to this couple was a journey for them and they collected keepsakes along the way and treated themselves to parts!... now time for sleek, modern look! Hope the family are all well, D&Px
More weight removal? foxdawg or street fighter?
im enjoying this already , being a harley owner i can relate to what you are doing and wish to achieve , personally i would put bigger apes on as i had wide bars on mine and found in straight line ok but corners with such a heavy bike made it very hard work and ofcourse she should be painted black , but thats all down to personal taste ,
Cheers Mike, ape hangers are awesome, but not so practical aye?! Got a outline in my head what I'm gonna do, nice modern sleek lines... glad to hear you're enjoying it mate!
I have a 99 super glide can't wait to see what else you do
grate video as always dell, cant wait to see how it turns out, deffo better without all that rubbish on it....... just wondering any way can do a video on gear linkages ? as every bike ive had with them on you can guarantee they really worn or in some cases unrideable
Hi buddy, that would be an interesting viedo... but so many bikes are all different, and generally speaking there isn't much but replacement to be done... anything like that we'll always do if it comes up!
Wish I New you been to Cornwall Del , could have met up , always enjoy your videos 😎
Hi Paul, it was just a flying visit, and dark when we arrived almost!... maybe next time buddy, what a beautiful part of the world...
Yes got some fantastic roads here to , come down in the new year, but don’t forget to visit Chequered Flag , Cornwall’s Ace Cafe 😃👍
