I have only been aware of Le Vent did Nord for some part of a year. Is their music about a French Celtic musical tradition? I know it exists, but guess it's centered in either Brittany or south central France. What a Happy surprise to hear Julie Fowlis singing with Le Vent Did Nord, ... in French! Thanks for expanding my horizons!

Heavily influenced by Irish and Scottish music (on the Montréal flag there are a shamrock and a thistle in addition to a rose, a fleur-de-lys, and a First Nations tree reflecting the founding nations of the city) as well as the traditional music brought by the original French settlers from northern France.
@@thatcherdonovan8138 the bretons are one of the most common ancestries along with norman, poitou and picardie in the new world most of the settlers were of northern france and at the time were very celtic all around as theyre the gauls and bretons 2 celtic peoples which tbh france is still celtic tbh southern france id say is the more roman one
id say the irish just had similar music as the bretons were the main influence of traditional québécois music and both irish and breton music is very similar to each other most celtic music is aside from language tbh the only thing that really separates breton music and québec music is either the accent in french or the bretons speaking brezhoneg and norman and bretons speak very similar to the québécois especially if theyre an older folk

Je trouve que la chanson est magnifique et à quel point Julie Fowlis s'intègre bien dans le groupe de ces musiciens comme si elle faisait partie de l'Onsomble depuis longtemps. Je le regarde beaucoup, c'est juste bien. C'est dommage que vous n'ayez jamais rien entendu du groupe VENT DU NORD, ils font vraiment de la bonne musique!

Amazing! She has great pronunciation! She sounds like she really speaks French.
Her first language is English. She did not grow up speaking Gaelic and struggled to learn it. She told a teacher at school she wanted to learn Gaelic, but the teacher recommended she "study something useful, like French."
