It's congeniality! The story, the camera, the location, the spirit, the director with his one and only masterpiece, the actors, the dialogues, the cultural background, the suspense, the fight for survival, the threat, a few careless mistakes with no bad intentions yet punished without no human remorse. The scene when Simms is facing the gun barrels and says "Why are you doing this. We haven't done anything" and then being executed is incredibly touching. What a film that is!

I remember watching this film when it first came out. I was very young and would have been listening to mostly top 10 pop music. I knew very little about other types of music or Americana music. I remember that the music in this film totally blew me away and this was my first exposure to Americana music. The music was recorded and played by Ry Cooder who was Walter Hill's main soundtrack collaborator throughout most of the 80s.

Me too!! Im a really shitty mateur guitar player and Had a coworker for 6 months who was an intermediate musician who was bound to go to Dublin. We Met Like 10 times, live 15min from me. He Had Bass, e guitar, i Had two acoustics and in the Last Session before he departed i randomly looked up RC bc i Always wanted to Check him Out. We grooves along to this Track and I improvised better than ever. Was magical

I view this movie at a summer cinema in my country, was the year 1983,as a child i didnt understand most of it,but the music impressed me, years later i can say is one of the most atmospheric, captivating soundtracks of history.

I cant believe the comments from one comment on this film. Love it! You love it as much as I do. Fantastic! I dont know the name of "Bigboy" but he was a Southern guy guy that played mourhharp in front of a general store down south. For some reason they took it off UA-cam. That fat man made me smile. Please share it if you have it.
