  • In 2016 my wife Ruth and I toured through Western Queensland including Birdsville, the Central Australian area round Alice Springs and Ayers Rock, Flinders Ranges, Gawler Ranges and North-Western New South Wales.
I started to put together a series of videos to record the journey but for some reason left the task incomplete. I found the files again a couple of months ago and have finished the task.
This series of seventeen videos show the areas as they were seven years ago with some areas still dry, and others flooded. But we saw more wildflowers than we had ever seen before, including our around Australia trip in 2009.
Part 9 tells about our progress from Mount Isa, via Three Ways to Alice Springs. We made a couple of overnight wayside stops and spent two nights at Barkley Roadhouse, on the Barkly Highway, the second night to allow for the ground to dry out after heavy rain during the first night.
This video includes the memorial to the wartime construction of the Barkly Highway, a stop at the Drovers Camp Memorial in Camooweal, the Devils Marbles, the memorial to John McDouall Stuart and the highest point in the Stuart Highway between Port Augusta and Darwin.
