Thanks so much for this review. I didn't realize this even existed. Living in North Florida, something like this would be a major bonus. Aside from major storms, we're guaranteed a string of some pretty nasty thunderstorms in the summer. While the city power rarely goes out, here in the county I will be without power for a minimum of 12hrs at least 3-5 times. So if I could just plug in a lamp, a fan and charge my phone without having to leave my car running after a storm...I'd be str8! I'm on the Milwaukee train, so I luckily already have several batteries (including the big guy) and a couple of chargers. But for those who don't-especially those who generally have no use for power tools-the sticker shock may leave you questioning whether it's worth it. I resisted battery powered tools for years, but finally needed a good trimmer and had the choice between battery powered or gas powered. Now I'm all in. Simple fact is, for anyone who doesn't know, not only do those batteries run the tools wonderfully, they also hold a full charge just sitting on a shelf for a ridiculously long time! So if you find you need it, it'll likely be there. The cost may seem high, but any emergency kit should have at least one of these. And no...I have ZERO affiliation with the brand. I'm just really pleased with the quality I paid for, which is becoming a rare thing. 😁
I’m in NE FL too, just picked up two of these yesterday for an emergency - awesome idea from Milwaukee to utilize a ton of money of batteries that I already had and hadn’t considered using for pedestrian application. Huge savings over standalone battery systems. We hope we don’t have to use them with this storm but we’re glad we found these!
The square wave frequency coming out of that unit was the issue with your power meter. Most electronics don’t care about the way the electrical wave form looks but some are very sensitive and will throw a fit when connected to anything other that a pure sine wave.
I’ve run a small heat pad with it before, about 5 hrs with the the 8 amp. I would imagine it would run smaller electric blankets. That heated jackets are basically a heated blanket and they take the small 12 volt
When I first heard about this Top-Off unit I thought it was a stupid idea. I mean, why pay for this when you can get a battery backup like Jackery? But now that I'm accumulating MW power tools with more M18 batteries I realize that in an emergency the M18 Top Off could come handy to tap into power sitting idle in my MW batteries. Thanks for the review! Cheers!

I was unable to find that info through a ton of digging. I am assuming that since they are not bragging about a pure sine wave, it must be modified. But it does say safe for laptops and such. That is an unknown to me.
I'm 99% certain this is a modified sinewave output inverter as the pure sine wave models require much more electronic components that would definitely not be able to fit in that tiny footprint they managed to create.
I've seen inverter generators that claim to be pure sine wave but they are in fact modified sine wave. I highly doubt that this is a pure sine wave unit.

They should be making that NOW! What am I supposed to do with 175w? How many times can you charge a 5Ah battery off of one battery
500 to 2,000
You can expect the batteries to run for years. The Milwaukee's tend to hold a charge capability for a while
Can you charge the battery like on the m12 inverter?
No
it be great if you could add multiple batteries
Very nice review love it , not it's time for DeWalt to come out with a flexvolt one
Yes I agree
@@WorkshopAddict but pure sine wave output.
Hey bro, I see you connected your tv to it and said it had no issues, but when i tried it on my 55" samsung led tv, the tv buzzed terribly, also any fan i hook it up to the fans buzz... if yours does not do this i think mine is defective?
I answered your email. That TV takes more than 175 watts. Too much for this small unit.
It will run that ram but for how long
I wanna bring a blender to the beach slash boat? If it run a fan motor a blender shouldn't be a problem???
Ps. I have a lot of extra Milwaukee batteries and a lot of rum and pina coloda mix
It would have to be a small blender, but it might work. Not going to turn a vitamix!
@@WorkshopAddict i mean with all do respect man im not an electrician but I can drill 100 Sheilds into the slab with a hammer drill or cut rods with a bandsaw all work day both on one M18 battery
@@johhnyapplesseed9776 Right! But with a tool designed for it. This 18-volt DC battery need to create 120 volts. It can create the volts, but it not creating more than 1.25 amps.
@@johhnyapplesseed9776 My vitamix blender is 11.5 amps. That's 1400 is watts.
@@WorkshopAddict 😯☹ alright ya that sucks ya it would be nice to chill on the beach without a gas generator or a 500 dollar battery pack. Thanks for the info u earned my subscription. Merry Christmas
would this run a portable heater 750/1,500-Watt Fan-Forced Electric Portable Heater with Thermostat in White
With Milwaukee's 88Ah battery, it might.
It will run for 10 mins and recharge is it?
Can I run a small compressor with it ?
No
My wife runs an electri throw blanket off the M18 and the Ryobi inverters I have, I actually like the ryobi more. It's got a built in light, no annoying fan and it's smaller. But both are great littler power supplies.
Will it power hairclippers ?
It should.
It was awesome when I first got it, but after using it for Christmas lights it keeps shutting off.
Did you send it out for warranty repair?
Why does mine only read 90 volts thru the 120 port?
Because it is probably broke
How do you charge it so you can charge your battery?
Milwaukee Tool batteries have thier own charger. This device will not charge a battery
@@WorkshopAddict got it Well, I get to go shopping for again. Thank you 😁
What about a microwave ??
Unlikely as most of them are 1,000 to 3,000 watts.
Why not avilable in a European version?
Can you plug it in a vacuum pump
You can plug it in but chances are it will not run it.
Would this run a Brother Inkjet Printer (printer is rated at 17Watts) ?
Yes.
Will this run a projector?
Not likely because of the power the light would want.
This video is quite old but would this run an angle grinder?
No. Not a chance. Most angle grinders are 8 to 13 amps, making them 900 to 1500 watts round numbers.
Is it in Australia?
Can you run a rupes polisher with this?
No
Looks like it will be able to charge my work laptop. Im sold.
I will also try running an xbox for shits and giggles
So it had no problem on the battery charger?
It did not have any issue.
Hii can i use for microwave in my car ??
No.
I want to buy me a 3600w power supply from milwaukee! Actually, I want to buy TWO! I was wondering if and how long can I run a TOASTER OVEN on it. Also, I want to Plug my Computer, Monitor and External Hard Drives. I want to Almost Exclusively Run my Room on these power suppliers.
Another reviewer confirmed with Milwaukee that this is not pure sine and is indeed a modified sine wave which won't play well with sensitive electronics (like your watt meter).
0 problems chagrin my smartphone. That's basically what this thing is for!!
What about a treager?
I have a camp chef ww24 and it might run it after start up, but it would never be able to start the fire.
To be clear, this can’t be used to charge the m18 battery in any capacity correct?
