      Those little punch out pieces i actually use. After I have tumbled the cases I use to reload i put them through another tumbler session with those little punch pieces. The leather actually cleans the cases pretty well and it helps to show up any small cracks in the cases if they are polished. It also helps to polish knife blades in the tumbler (little cheat i use when I am too tired to sit and hand polish for hours) .. they do about 80 to 85% of the work and I dont have to spend hours polishing the blade (note, this is pre sharpening)

    Hi, this may be a little unrelated but apart from the fact that this video is super informative and very helpful, I love the way you have this habit of saying 'nice' when you finished a step, because it reminds me that it's important to acknowledge the stuff that we did well instead of focusing on little mistakes. Thank you for the video! I'm planning on making a pair of those for my little brother who loves everything viking-ish, he's gonna be thrilled!

    Thank you for this one. We professionally cosplay and the cuffs my husband made 15 years ago have seen the last of their better days. Even with the road trip to PA for leather you just saved us a great deal of money & even more importantly the multiple headaches that come with his being so particular. He's built like a Viking Berserker & we don't like the ready made pieces we were afraid he'd have to settle for in his size.

    Use the holes from punching holes to stuff things (like hacky sacs), OR, add the bits to your house plants or compost them in your yard/garden--the leather does a splendid job of holding moisture in the soil.

    the leather dots from the punch out tool, you can mark certain places to mesh down the
    leather wrist strap ( heated , so it will be like a branding dot ) and glue the dots in place.
    makes good decoration on the wrist strap.

      Hey, its me on my other account. I just finished making one armguard. A huge recommendation would be to let your viewers know that the length of the forearm should be measured from the inside of the arm, while the arm is bent. Otherwise, the armguard will be quite uncomfortable on the wrist and elbow without any room to adequately move.

    • @MatthewThrone
      @MatthewThrone 6 років тому

      For me, I am still going to wear it for my Halloween costume, but I have to twist is so that the laces are facing the inside of the arm, while the "Pointed" end is in line with the elbow.

    what i like doing for Antiquing, is to Dilute a Finish, Resolene or a Matte, and apply a single coat, then Antique it, let it get in the grooves, use a ruler and a cloth or paper towel wrapped around so get a even wipe on the top surface only. Letting the aintique stay in the grooves for a few hours, then wipe again using the ruler mainly to buff out anything i missed.

    2 suggestions for you although I am sure you have thought about these before. The tiny bits of leather from the hole punch? Save them in a box as they can so easily be used for other craft or costume projucts. Finally on my own vambraces I used rabbit fur. Soft against the skin and if you do sweat it soaks it up like a sponge.
