Green street? Some of the worst casting I have seen since John Wayne as Ghengis Khan, and Sean Connery as a Russian Submarine commander. Frodo Baggins as a hooligan? Are you sure?
@@sjfootball1692 I like anyone who has time to clear that up for others. I seem to spend half my life correcting those that slag off the film just because there's an American as a soccer thug in it. It has a vague parallel with the plot from ID (my favourite hooligan movie ever) actually, in how one person who begins as a non hooligan just eventually gets sucked into it throughout the film until the lifestyle finally bites back at him, scoring himself consequences on both sides of the divide.
Green Street 1 is a good film but I wouldn't of ranked it above ID. ID for me edges the others in that it's a pretty dark film that really gives you a feel for what the scene/life was like in 80's/90's England. The football hooligan films that came out this century such as Football Factory and Foot Soldier were good films but they were more about the international Box Office and glorifying it than they were about trying to put you there. They were really just high budget action/dram type films.
The Firm, original play was number 1, followed by ID, Enjoyed Cass & Rise, because they were true stories, based on two ICF top boys. Green Street was pure cringe.
ID's fight scenes are chaotic and quick, just like real life street violence and football hooliganism. Unlike the glamourized Hollywood approach in Green street
I agree m8 . That is how it was in The 70 s . Full on .rucks in car parks . Pubs . Train stations .subways .ambushes . The good old days . Not like it is now chucking acid in people's faces . Hammers . Stanley knives . It is total madness
How a classic like Alan Clarke's 'The Firm' is No.7 with dross like 'Green Street 3' in front of it is beyond me...you need to go away and have a rethink me 'ol son???...lol...(Also 'Arrivederci Millwall' should be in there...another forgotten 'gem'...)
Agreed. The original firm is a masterpiece. One of my all-time favorite movies in any genre. But definitely the finest hooligan film ever made by leaps and bounds.
Okolofudbola awsome russian movie you have english subtitle and zg-80 croatian movie, movie is on funny note but is good i dont know can you find english subtitle
I'm an Everton fan, so usually I'd stick up for a film about a film set on Merseyside, but I've got to admit, it's a bit of a joke how all those skinny little lads in that film are shown beating the shit out of grown men. Even that older bloke, Steven Graham, who is in it, is a midget. It just wouldn't happen like that in real life. Not to mention the fact that Tranmere were never a top firm anyway.
1. The Firm 2. I.D. 3. Football Factory 4. Cass 5. Green street 3 6. Away days 7. The Firm remake 8. Green street 2 9. St Georges day 10. Green street hooligans
I.D. should have been top of the list. "Get yer fucking tools out Gumbo." "My kids will come round here and fucking eat yours. Still love yer though." "Well ??" "You got somat to fucking say ?" "You're gonna get yer fucking heads kicked in." Line after line of genius writing. Pal of mine was at Bradford City when it was filmed. When he was slashed in the away end and then dragged back by the plod.
ID, Football Factory, The Firm (1984) etc, etc. Green Street had a guy that was lead hooligan but spoke with a weird non London accent and I am not talking about that Lord of Rings guy. Storyline was a joke and it was so hard to take Charlie whatshisname (blond guy who was a PE teacher)seriously. Football Factory, ID and The Firm (1984- Gary Oldman ,Steve McFadden etc) piss all over the others in this list and are far better story wise and so more believable.
The FUCKING FIRM!!!!!!!!!!! GARY FUCKING OLDMAN!!!!!!!!!!!!! That "TV" movie made Gary a Hollywood movie star due to his performance with the supporting cast and the directors realism. The other movies on this list.....................DONT MAKE ME LAUGHT SON!!!
I agree entirely .I am an ex football thug mg selk . Which 1 do you mean the 1 st or 2 nd . I think the 1 st . With Gary old man was the best especially the ruck in the on at the end . How in was back in the day .
How are there 3 'Green Street' movies on here but no 'Away Days,' and if 'St. George's Day' (a crime rather than a hooligan film) can feature why not 'Rise of the Footsoldier' which is FAR better. For me, the best (enjoyable) movies are Football Factory, ID and The Firm but the most authentic is the remake of The Firm.
The original firm is the best by some distance. Short, explosive and brilliantly acted. They all pale compared to that. Putting it at 7 is ridiculous. The remake gets a higher slot? What a joke. Cass is highly overrated. Green Street Hooligans is shit. Simple as that.
ID the clear winner - a great film. Football Factory second but would have been better without the dream sequences. I prefered the origional firm to the remake. cass was ok, not terrible. Green street 1 was really badly cast i thought. Elijah wood just looks to innocent and childlike throughout, hunnam was really bad in this and at the time the only thing i knew him from was "queer as folk" so quite a change of character, even the reveal of the major i just couldnt buy the guy from hustle as being the leader of a firm, not a serious one anyway. Story could have been better, but wasnt terrible - but three really bad choices for the leading roles for me.
Yeah, Green Street was directed by a German woman, so I think she just was just looking for pretty boys. The real leaders of firms look like nightclub bouncers, with big necks. The same thing happens in gangster films, where they cast the likes of Johnny Depp to play feared gangsters.
My personal favourites are The Firm (original), Football Factory, I.D. St George's Day is ok but I'd class it more of a crime caper than a hooligan flick. Green Street is one the biggest piles of shit I've ever seen in any genre, how it's number one is beyond me. Charlie Hunnam's attempt at a cockney accent is up there with Dick van Dyke's.

Number 4 is and I can’t believe it never made the list above is Arrivderci Millwall, just because it’s a classic ! No need for number 5 and so on, the rest just don’t cut it in my book.
Everyone saying that The Firm (the Oldman original, that is) is the best film about football hooligans ever is totally correct. A classic.
Nah. Gary Oldman was the only good thing about it. If it wasn't for him it would have been long forgotten by now.
Definitely. I reckon ID should be number 2, also.
steve mcqueen is gonna do a film ....'the black gay crew' ....brings whole new meaning to 'Up the arsenal' . . .!!
Absolutely , closely followed by Arrivederci Millwall 1990.
F#@kin Yetti lol
Green street? Some of the worst casting I have seen since John Wayne as Ghengis Khan, and Sean Connery as a Russian Submarine commander. Frodo Baggins as a hooligan? Are you sure?
The story was that Frodo wasn’t a proper hooligan he was an American experiencing the firms and eventually became one of them
I thought Charlie Hunams Cockney accent was the worst thing about that film
😂 Scottish man controls russian fleet 😂 they have a columbian boss too 😂
Terrible film , hasn’t aged well at all

Cass doesn’t get enough credit imo. Definitely the most realistic story, clobber and fight scenes
Cass is sooo slept on bruv 😫😫. I love that movie.🔥🔥🔥😍😍😍
Actually Cass is overrated and forgettable.
Its shit
Completely agree Cass was probably the most proper football hooligan anyone would ever come across not like the pathetic excuses today
Yeah its a good film but Becks. The Firm 1989 is the daddy .
By far the best football film of all time is I.D and I f**king love it gumbo ☺
absoloute dog shit
The Firm (original with Phil Mitchell) & The Football Factory are my two favourite hooligan films.
1989 Gary Oldman
Not just Phil Mitchell but Jim McDonald too
Reece Dinsdale in I.D is a phenomenal performance!
ID is one of my favourite films. And you are spot on. Reece Dinsdale was superb.
He was total pants!
The firm was and still is one of the best films of all time.
My personal favourite and best football hooligan flick, the original and best 'The Firm' followed by I.D. "Yeti!!!!!!"
Green Street trilogy needs removing. First one was ok but the other two?
Dana Black agree!!
Dana Black first one was actually good but then it started going downhill
Dana Black Going Downhill like West Ham in the Leaghe
The 1st, one of best movies of all time. 2nd, flat with a great ending. The 3rd is a slap in face
Dana Black lol didn't even know there was a trilogy. Who is the new major in the 2nd??
ID and Football Factory both piss down on Green Street from a great height
firm remake
Rob Delakovias me cg §l
Ash Scott no it wasn't
Delak 82 firm remake crap
Ash Scott green Street far better than both
The Firm.is No 1, no other football film comes close.
I.D. 1995. That’s one of the best hooligan films. Watched it on UA-cam. Brilliant film 10/10. SHADWELL ARMY !!!!!
That was pathetic film mate nearly as bad as Green street(2 /3 was even worse) the Firm original & bestthe remake was terrible

Garbage
Pathetic film in story & especially acting if yoh want a football film the Original Firm with Gary Oldman

Arrividerci Millwall worthy of a mention

ID is the real deal. Nothing comes closer to oldschool
I know the persons dad who was the real police officer

The firm ,id and rise of the footsoldier are the only ones worth looking at
Green street ????? The first one was class
ID should be number one. It is easily better than Green Street but still man great list.
Luke Patrick id is okay but doesn't give the feel as green street and id it doesn't have a fight in it
ID's fight scenes are chaotic and quick, just like real life street violence and football hooliganism. Unlike the glamourized Hollywood approach in Green street

Green Street at number 1??? Hilarious!! Charlie Hunnam doing probably the worst accent ever in a film. Shit list, only 2 or 3 even worth watching

Only two decent films on this list. The Firm and ID. Green Street, we are supposed to believe Frodo Baggins was a football hooligan ? Do me a favour.
How is the original firm not higher up and behind the sequel.?
Arreverderci Millwall and the original The Firm.
Football factory is my personal favourite

MrKunt are you joking
No. Green Street is a joke of a film.
MrKunt The original Firm, I.D and Awaydays are the only three worth a watch. There are that many of them now they are boring.
