Great musicians, brilliant performance. Listening to this in November 2020 I really wish I had an airplane. Today this gathering around one mic would be considered a potential super-spreader event. Hope we can get back to live music one day.

Dave projects such an ease and confidence, while playing so intricately, it's leadership energy. You'd think pulling off the virtuosity would be all he could focus on, but he makes it look second nature. You can tell it really encourages the band to get as much out of their instruments and harmonies as possible, especially Brittany who makes the fiddle emote that deep sense of yearning. Such a perfect adornment on top of the song. Meanwhile, the bass player is vibing out hard in the background the whole song 😆

    Such a wonderful song.
“I’d go flyin’ o’er every sorrowful thing”
It’s a very poetic and beautiful notion summed up in just the right key with the perfect words.
It made me think of a couple random events and people of the past 10-15 years... The first one being, Colton Harris Moore, the “Barefoot Bandit”, who was a semi-sensation of a young and bold outlaw in the modern era but, in truth he was a dynamic genius born into hard living with tough luck but, enough spirit and grit to take to the skies with the obvious thinking that he may never get to if not then and there despite it being a daring crime to steal airplanes. I still often think about that young man and, how inspiring his story was and is to those of us who dream of flight.
The other instance was the more recent event of that sad young man who stole the airplane on the tarmac in Seattle and, took to the skies to say his goodbye to a world in which he lived and wanted to prove he had lived even though as it seems, he was determined to die. It was in his voice where you could hear him liberated from the sadness he must have been enduring. You hear him talk about the beauty of the things he was flying over and the majesty of the mountains that get to stand up there every single day and gaze all around. He also managed to pull off some wild maneuvers which again, I imagine sent a sensation of pure living through his veins. It is tragic that he would later crash and die. It is also worth noting that it could’ve hurt innocent lives too even if he was clearly stating his intention to avoid that at all costs. Good that he did avoid that but, he ought not have done the stunt and, I want to be clear that I feel this way and that his was not a thing of glory. It likely devastated those who loved him but, in my prayers for the ones who suffer with sorrowful things and, the beauty of this song, I will keep these young men in my thoughts and, the thoughts of peace I get when I dream of flight, the silence and the gliding pacific ease of flying over every sorrowful thing.
I love art and often I prefer Americana. My goodness, these musicians and artists are such favorites of mine.

Yeah, it's freaking me out. Can you tell what he's playing here? I've always wondered if he even HAS a backup when they're on tour. Or if he'd like, bought up a bunch of early 1930s Epiphone Olympics before his playing drove up their value.
