I still have all the old paperbacks with the Frazetta artwork on it that I got from used book stores as a teen. Howard was out there. Solomon Kane is another good character of his wild imagination.

Your summary of Conan's life made him look somehow... more believable. Like he is still an exceptional individual, but less of a figure of legend, and more of a bloke, that turned adventuring into his 08:00 to 16:00 job.

I remember going to the store to see if the new Savage Sword of Conan was in. I would slap that up on the counter I could not see over, with a couple packs of Eagle Claw snelled hooks and ask for a can of chew. Then I would head to the river for a day of reading, fishing and spitting. It was a simpler time when I was 8, lol.
This was a very good video especially since I just got through looking at some of my dad's old comics, he had both Conan and King kull that he got back in the 70s that he had forgot about.
Dark Horse wrapped up a few years ago, Marvel picked it up again but dropped it during Covid. Titan Comics from the UK now doing them with Jim Zub writing - superb!

No, Dark Horse Comics published Conan from 2003 to 2018, when the rights were re-acquired by Marvel Comics. Marvel then published Conan comics until 2022, when Titan Comics took over the license (through Heroic Signatures) to begin publishing its own series & still holds the rights.

If you havent played the game Age of Conan...one MUST. Its online with other players and loaded with lore.
It has a gritty mmorpg style but with directional attacks and blocking...and FATALITIES. Its pvp is hands down the most intense ive ever experienced.

The movie with Jason Mamoa could gad been better, Mamoa was not bad as Conan but the script sucked, he should ge snither chance with a better script, but the bad thing is whi owns the rights to Ribert E Howard's estate, i think for what i read somewhere is ownded by simone in Denmark or Sweden, there was a series that ran only one season with Arnold Schwarzenegger's and felow bodybuilder and friend Ralph Moller it was also ok not to great .

conan has met lots of demons, wizards, and gods. why does he continue to "worship" crom when he'd get more attention from one of the other gods of hyboria? and why become the king of aquilonia and not the king of cimmeria?
That's not Conan. you don't know Conan from the original stories created by Robert E. Howard, and just used A.I. to generate and merge images based on the 82 film, which is far from the Conan story.
Yeah, it ain't the Conan I grew up reading but I will admit it is probably the Conan known by most people. Been a whole lot of people contribute to Conan's tale since Howard. None have really captured the shrewd, resourceful, indomitable cimmerian of legend Howard created but most folk wouldn't know the name if not for them. Plus, a lot of them are good reads. The Arnold film is great but definitely not Conan. Howard's hero never would have submitted to a master, he always left a swath of blood behind him while liberating himself and others. Also, where the hell was Belit?
