This is the video I've been looking for for quite some time! I had bad luck with Opentrack in the past when I was trying to do head tracking on the cheap with my iphone. I got a Grass Monkey unit and the version of Opentrack that goes with it is much, much better. I just didn't really know how to go about configuring it. Thank you very much for doing this video!!!
OUTSTANDING! Made so much more since to fine tune each input as you did. MSFS across 3 monitors look good, I may even mess around with DCS World next week. Can't bring my entire VR rig with me while i'm on the road.
With yaw, you should be able to look 180 degrees behind you by looking at the left and right quarter of your monitor. You should not have to turn you head past the edge of your monitor causing you to have to watch your monitor out of the corner of your eye when you are looking 180 degrees behind you in the sim.
Great tutorial, thanks for doing this. Not sure if this was an option when you made this but now you can even use a cheap web cam as the camera, setting up my MSFS now. FYI, at the end of the video you set Y as the source when you were configuring the X axis, that's why it was acting weird... 😉
If the camera is losing focus of the LED’s you don’t have the curved set sharp enough. The whole point of track IR is to multiple the movements of your head. If you have it set to where you have up move you head and looking at you ceiling to look at the roof of the plane, that’s not the way it should be, be sure if you are looking at the ceiling, you can’t see your monitor. I agree about roll. That’s the one one axis where I have it set up to a 1:1 ratio to equal what my head is doing and not multiple the roll movement of my head.
I downloaded the TrackIR software. I start it before I start MSFS...I minimize it and leave it running. The problem I get is I cannot access the TRAcKIR app after the sim starts. I get error msg that there is already a track IR session running ? Any ideas? This doesn't allow me to be able to tweak the setup
i just got a trackir 5 pro and installed opentrack yet it doesnt find the camera. although in trackir software, it works fine. actually, in MSFS2020, track ir is not working at all yet in the plane, in camera setting trackir is enabled. in control options, i see trackir default but nothing to configure. what am i doing wrong?
ok this is odd, i just got a message back from Opentrack dev and they stated Trackir camera are not supported.... How have you got it to work? I see that your opentrack is version 2021.1.3 im running the latest 2022.3.0
I own the TrackIR v5 set up, but I don't understand how to get Opentrack to recognize the TrackIR camera and clip. Could someone point me in the right direction. The Opentrack software seems easier to use and I would like to try it. Thanks
You can't use you're TrackIR 5/4 with OpenTrack, but MSFS recognizes OpenTrack as TrackIR. OpenTrack uses Point tracker protocol with a modified Play Station 2 Camera.
@@rackum44 Your TrackIR software can do the same things. You are applying a control curve to each axis that the sensor reads. Just like a flight stick, or pedals. It's just sensitivity curves to make everything comfortable to your range of motion.
Hello! My "Z" axis doesn't take effect when I put it enabled in Open Track settings. :( Can you help me? My camera is logitech C310 and I use "AITRACK" to inditefy my camera and in Open Track I put source of data "UDP OVER NETWORK" and in output source - " Free Track 2.0 Enhabced' Can you help me with "Z" axis? Other axis are working properly!
I get how to set the Mappings, but the thing is i'm having problem with setting the PS Eye settings correct i think. I REALLY look forward to TrackHat come out with there own Camera :P
@@fdkrew Yes I bought it as a complete unit already modded, but what i meant was settings like resolution, FPS, FOV, Color Channels and so on in the Point Tracker 1.1 settings under Camera. I think some new people has taken overt development of OpenTrack very recent, because there has happened a lot with OpenTrack the last few months. And the TrackHat Sensor Camera should be shipping by now or soon, so i look forward to reviews of the new Camera from TrackHat :D
I don't know about OpenTrack but SU7 completely broke TrackIR. TrackIR turns off any time it loses a LED (like if you look off the screen, sneeze, take a drink, etc.). Pausing TrackIR now makes it center the screen and then turn off, you can no longer pause it to look at/adjust and instrument. They knew the broke TrackIR during the beta and still released it broken anyway. The official forums have a bug thread on it with over 400 votes in just 2 days. As a simmer that's used TrackIR for many flight sim versions, it not working correctly is miserable.

It would have been good for you to TELL us that you were NOT using tracIR software! It's probable me, but GITHub just sucks for navigation and understanding. One of you poorer videos.
Thank goodness someone has taken the trouble to explain what the graphs are all about. My heartfelt thanks to you
THANK YOU! I've followed a ton of these set up vids and this one FINALLY makes sense and I have it running PERFECTLY!

thanks for this, good plan doing 1 axis at a time. my headtracker was making my brain spin at about 5000rpm :D
its much more comfortable now

Excellent video.. Made setting tracker so much easier thank you
Very good. I was about to return my track IR thanks
Great, I needed it! Thank you!
Super !!! Thank You !!!!
Thank you for sharing this video, very useful! Would you recommend an elliptical monitor or a flat screen instead with trackir?
How to raise seat height?
With opentracker.
See over dash
Opentracker disabled keyboard eyepoint move up

Share your setting for download
Dear lord why would you install windows 11? Thanks for sharing your settings.
why not?
@Dwayne. There are reports of 11 reducing performance in games
are you using that Trackclip pro? and what camera are you using?
I have downloaded and setup my trackir but can not get it to work in game and connect. How do I do this?
Why is mine just kick jumping from one to another after I tuned it like this thanks
Is there another safer location other than github to download opentrack. The one on github seems to be infected with a trojan. Thanks.
And what about the track IR settings in MFS2020 and ingame key binding?
Thanks a lot!

I also have a PS eye. Did you remove your IR filter by modding the camera? That allows the camera to pickup your IR tracker on your headset.

Is there an advantage in using OPEN TRACK instead of the TRACK IR software?
