  • Can you drill a magnet?
If you are here then you have asked that very question as my young son asked me!
Well here I shall try to answer your magnet drilling questions with my own attempt, success or failure, watch & see!
Magnet In question is a neodymium cuboid 54mm, drill bit is a 12.5mm titanium

Why didn't you try with a masonry bit?

A high quality bit and cutting oil will go right through Morse bits are amazing.

Try drilling for 1 second then clear the magnet shards. The magnets, neodymium, are brittle and the heat and electricity generated from the drill bit seemed to cause the shards to refuse to the magnet, probably along with shards from the drill bit that were also magnetized. Drill, then clear with another magnet of equal strength and a cloth, then continue. I would love to see if that works. Subscribing now to see if you try this.

Need to use a water jet

The magnet will lose its magnetism due to heat; especially that it is a neodymium

Try coke a cola as a lube it works great on stainless steel.

You can try drilling under high pressure gas flushing

I would do the same thing if I don't see this video. Now I give up. Thanks for saving one piece of my neodymium magnet.

Yes hell thanx iv been thinking on it too and a carbide speer tip glass cutter bit slow speed steady even pressure with pressure air blow on it the full time with coke a cola and cutting fluids both on it it mite work very well
