Thanks you so much for this video, just bought a Asus TUF z370 Pro Gaming board with some bent pins for 20 EUR - your selection of tools was an inspiration, wouldn't have thought of the Stanley blade. You've earned another subscriber :-) Cheers
All good, I usually use a wooden cocktail stick or toothpick, fine point also more grippy than metal surfaces, I guess everyone has a favourite method.
Disappearing ram problem on my lga1366, bios see 8gb instead of 12gb, but see the 3 sticks, cpuz detect 12gb, 3 sticks in triple channel, windows see 12gb, but only 8gb available. Now i know why, one pin bent backward on itself.
I actually freaked out when I dropped my CPU in my CPU socket especially because it was bought off eBay straight from China lol. Then I put it in and surprisingly the thing worked. I know some were bent based on the light just not sure how badly because I didn't want to look or even attempt repairing them unless I had to lol. Edit: I should probably also say when I glanced at it the few that were bent didn't look like they were facing the wrong way or anything crazy.
A lot of pins are power and ground, and you can lose a couple of those without the chip falling over. Other pins might be for a PCI-E lane that you're not using, so you won't notice it not working. I have a friend who snapped a pin on a 2700x and now his on-bard audio doesn't work. So you can get weird problems, but sometimes those problems are acceptable or invisible.
great video , in my case my mobo won't postor boot , i checked everything no bent cpu pins , and i have just one ram slot used (just 8gb)....it just won't wont boot , do you have any suggestions pls ?
hi , and thaks for your answer , my specs are Gigabye Z97x Gaming 7 , cpu : i7 4790k , ram 8gb hyperx 1800 mhz, PSU 700w , GTX 980 .......but yesterday i've found few scratches on the back of my motherboard i will take it this afternoon to a certified gigabyte repair shop think that's the issue i 'll let you know if there is any news
How I hate those pins... Such an easy way to make motherboard useless. Basically the only real way. I did it once and 2 out of 4 memory slots were not working. Since then I am extremely careful.

I was trying to align 1 pin and ends up messed other pins 😭
My question is how the hell did those pins get bent?
The guy probably dropped the CPU, a screwdriver, or something into it which made them point up and then when he put the CPU in it bent them like that.

Is carpet a good thing to set a motherboard on? Carpet is very bad for static.
The RAM modules look like their in the wrong slots too - must have been an inexperienced builder
Very nice😊Very

Bad ram configuration too :d
LGA sucks, PGA is better since it's easier to bend the pins back!
