  • We are making our way from Cape Eleuthera to Chub Cay and back to the USA. We have spent about 5 or 6 weeks in the Bahamas. After our long delay in Orange Beach we never thought it would be possible but we did it, and now we have to say good-bye to these beautiful islands and get back to Looping!

Having watched most of your posts I am struck how you almost never seem to enjoy filming yourselfs enjoying your boat. No lounging on the back deck with an adult beverage or sitting at the dinette having a meal…mostly reviewing the next leg…still enjoying your adventure

Hello! This is true, not intentional...but a great observation. I guess when its time to relax and enjoy we are just savoring the moments as they happen. Also, people may not want to see us in our shenanigans hahaha! We appreciate you sticking with us! :)

You three sound like us...we always vacationed in Orange Beach. On the way down from St. Louis the car was filled with anticipation about our 7 day stay on the ocean. You don't know how many times I answered "are we there yet dad"? When we arrived that car was emptied and began our stay. However, on the way back home 7 days later, the car was quiet, everyone but me was sleeping and the mood was somber knowing that we were headed back home to our daily lives. Work, school and the daily grind. When we got home the car did not empty as fast as when we arrived at Orange Beach but the funny thing was that after 2 days home we all started planning our trip for the following year. Shakespeare said it best in Romeo and Juliet when Romeo says "Parting is such sweet sorrow". Have a good trip home I have enjoyed your adventure so much and hate to see it is coming to an end. I hope you keep posting when you get back home. Good luck and take care.

Awww, Thank you so much Larry! We appreciate your kindness so much! It is so hard to try and get back to "normal" I can honestly say although our "loop" is coming to an end, our travels with Andromeda is just beginning. We learned SO much, and now know what we can do different, how to do it cheaper and also know what areas we want to see more of. :) I have a feeling this is just the beginning :)

Loved the video. Nice pivot to Bimini when the seas got too rough. I haven't been to Bimini for several years but when I was last there, a big resort further inside the harbor had much nicer docks than Bluewater. It is a quieter, cleaner spot also. Alice Town is a little raffish and worn but there are some fun places.
You went right by our winter home in Stuart -- we are sited where the Inlet crosses the ICW on the south side, so we see all the boats going in or out of the inlet and all the boats going north/south in the ICW. I keep a small boat rack stored in a facility just beyond the Sailfish Marina. Stuart is a wonderful spot.
You are smart to own a boat that can make tracks -- I can't imagine doing the same route you did in a few days in an eight knot trawler. Cruising at 17 to 20 knots is far more pleasurable.

Thank you John! I think you are so right, we may have just been in a more congested area. Also, we had been spoiled by uninhabited islands, or just pure beauty that we may not have prepared ourselves for reentry lol. We loved Stuart! We were so thankful to have the ability to go fast when needed. It made all the difference for comfort so many times. Thank you for joining us :)

I "stumbled" upon your channel when a video said you were at Paris Landing State Park and then in Waverly, TN on the Tennessee River. I know that stretch of river well and it was cool to see from your perspective. Been following you ever since and subscribed today to watch the rest of your adventure! Also, we vacation often in Orange Beach and recognized places you went to. Sorry you were there so long doing repairs. I've spent my adult life in Tennessee but my childhood in Maryland boating the Magothy River that is one of the rivers on the Chesapeake Bay between Baltimore Harbor and the Severn River (Annapolis) near the bay bridge. Make sure to stop and spend some time in Annapolis if you can. You will enjoy it for sure. Many nice spots on the eastern shore of the Chesapeake as well. My Aunt lived on the Atlantic near Chincoteague Island. Still visit back in Maryland from time to time and great memories of boating, fishing, and crabbing! Safe travels!

I was just about to register a complaint about the severe “Ollie drought,” but then you finally gave him some decent screen time (with some pretty adorable poses) so now I’m happy. Maybe it’s good that you had to detour to Bimini, so your last night in the Bahamas wasn’t magical - makes the transition back to the USA easier. I’ll bet editing all of the vids from your time there was fun and therapeutic, and great incentive to plan your return there sooner rather than later! Looking forward now to the upcoming episodes in what must have been a pedal-to-the-metal trip up the East Coast and back to Michigan!

I just knew that this episode would start out with you three facing the camera, announcing that you had sold the boat and were now living full time in the Bahamas. 😂 Glad you're back in the good ol' U S of A. No place like home. Did you clear customs in Stuart?

One of my favorite places is Stuart actually Jensen Beach. Two years of college at FIT they're 80-82. Before they put the breakwater at entrance to St Lucie inlet, saw 3 or 4 40 to 50 foot sport fishers turn around. The 1st boat was larger than them and disappeared in the foam of the break going out. He made it and kept going.

Those farewells to the Bahamas are hard, as I learned years ago. If you loved the Berrys and Eleutheras, you would have absoulutely fallen in love with the Abacos. I'm not a fortune teller but I see a future for Andromeda spending the off season berthed along the coast of north Florida, Georgia or maybe South Carolina, patiently waiting on y'all to spend the winter at home in Michigan, anticipating your return in the early Spring (like February or March), and prepping her for a return to the Bahamas, with the Abacos on the list. The Turks and Caicos would be within striking distance too. That is if you can stand to be parted from Andromeda for a winter season or three. With these memories, a rental yacht just wouldn't do. Removing the Bahamas Courtesy Flag had to be bittersweet for you guys after all you endured to get to the Islands. Looking forward to your Atlantic Coast and New England experience.
