  • The Umarex Legends Thompson M1A1 airgun is a very close replica of the WW2 Thompson M1A1 submachine gun. It fires 4.5mm (.177) BBs at an advertised velocity of 435 fps in full or semi-automatic modes. I owned a semi-automatic Auto-Ordnance Thompson M1A1 at one time. This Umarex replica really looks and to some degree feels like my previous Thompson M1A1, but its weight is about 2.5 pounds lighter, and the furniture is plastic, though it looks like real wood. Powered by compressed CO2, the magazine containing the CO2 capsules and .177 BBs is probably the heart of the airgun and you'll definitely want to get spare magazines.
The airgun is not intended to be field strippable for maintenance like a real Thompson M1A1.

It's a really fun and weighty plinker!
I fitted wooden furniture to mine but I wouldn't recommend it!

Good to know! One of the viewers changed the synthetic wood coloring and also added weight inside the stock for a more Thompson-like heft. He made a video of it on his UA-cam channel. Thanks for commenting and viewing!

You can buy spare magazines, but they are not cheap, about 50 bucks. I have seen them for sell a few bucks lower than that. I guess that is where Umarex may get you, buy the air gun for 175-200, buy spare magazines for 50 bucks a piece.

why you put Silicone oil in metal ? not normal??

Umarex recommends and sells silicone oil to lubricate those few areas that need lubrication. It will not damage the CO2 gas seals that regular mineral oils would do. So most recommendations I have seen say to avoid spraying regular oil on the metal parts, it will surely get on the seals sooner or later. Silicone oil also prevents sticking and on some parts of the BB gun like the magazine, that may help feeding.

Great detailing on your Umarex Thompson, I like it! F.Y.I., I once owned a semi-auto M1A1 .45 Caliber Auto-Ordnance Thompson at one time. In the United States, the barrel must be at least 16 inches long, otherwise you have to have a special permit. The longer barrel plus some additional internal design differences in the semi-auto version made the total unloaded weight 10 lb. 14 ounces...heavy for sure! Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment!
