So cool!! Made my day knowing I was a student of one of Mr. Escelante's student, Mr. Villasenor. My class was the first class and earliest age to study Algebra in the incoming summer school year of my 5th grade. My class and I, along with Mr. V made the front page of The San Gabriel Valley Tribune🤗💓🧲💓🤗 Con Ganas 🤗🤗
I bet you Jaime Escalante is still teaching us up there in Heaven. I hope to meet you one day in Heaven Mr. Escalante. Maybe you can teach me Calculus as I'm trying to learn Geometry now at an older age than High School. I love math because I didn't know how to subtract in the 4th grade because I had to go to a special speech class and missed out. And my teacher asked me why I didn't turn in my homework so he told me to stay after class. Then he showed me how to subtract and from then on I loved math because it was so simple to me. God bless him and all teachers.
More than an incredible story if you know Jaime's story first. Didn't speak English coming here as a young one. But strived to learn his craft mathematics and his rare teaching style that overcame their angst over math class. He should have been duplicated by the LASD but his coworkers got jealous of his success teaching. Mind you, this was before a "Khan" existed or even the wonderful internet. He was an inspiring figure in his classroom as well. Proof of his concept, he's gone now, but I'm sure he knows his graduate did something totally awesome. They all did very well taking his class....so no more excuses that we cannot learn a difficult thing. Teaching in America is underestimated as a fine crafting of minds for future generations to benefit from our dedication. Oh, they gave Jaime some plaque eventually.....he taught math how it should be taught now, but isn't unfortunately....America shame on us. All of us...each one teach two, just to make up for lost time.
He saw the potential untapped in the individuals that society looked down upon. Imagine if everyone saw what he saw and used the same teaching style? Technology would probably advance in leaps and bounds with all the possible scientific minds that we could have developed.
Lo festejaremos con un Lomo Montado o un Pique a lo Macho. The teacher sows the seed in his students and they are in charge of germinating and making his tree of knowledge grow. Rest in peace to my countryman Jaime Escalante.
@@michael85225 Black, and Mr. Escalante would actually be a woman, born as a man with the story about how Mr. Escalante helped energize students who are transgender so they could have their own bathrooms and play on woman sports teams so they could decimate the competition. Oh, 5 minutes devoted to how he also did all that calculus stuff too, but that'll be largely ignored for the greater woke story.
“You have 2 strikes against you! your name and your complexion” for all my latino dreamers out there we in this together ! we will succeed, if we have the ganas there is nothing that can stop us !
Now I see why they made a film about Mr. Escalante, he's made such a huge impact on his students to this day. What a great teacher.

No! Leave the original alone!
They will turn Mr. Escalante black if they made a remake or some stupid thing like that.
