I was lucky enough to be at that game. After watching his debut in disbelief I told my friends I had just watched a future world player of the year........
that long sleeve, white rubber ring, half white shocks and half shocks from the jersey are really match on him, nobody wore that kind of style on the picth like him at that time, he was just so iconic
I was a kid when Ronaldo and Messi started their careers. And i loved them both through their careers, but CR7 will always have a special place in my heart. Messi has always had the edge on him if we are talking about pure and raw football talent and this is the reason why if i have to choose between them i'll always pick Cristiano. He had to put hard work to reach, and for long periods overcome, Messi talent. First at arrive, last to leave. Never left a pitch without putting max effort. And a true leader, never seen him give up before the end of a match. And i don't know why but the rush of adrenaline that this guy give me during games and the way he gives me hope even in difficult games is something else. Messi never did this for me. And i'm not saying because he is not beterr than CR7 or bla bla bla, simply i always found Cristiano more exciting to watch and follow. I guess it's subjective. For these reasons if my life is on the line in a footbal game, i'll always choose Cristiano.,!!!!!!!!!
I love Ronaldo when he was taking players on like this but a few years later he evolved into a goal scoring machine and now he’s the number one goal scorer of all time.
Exactly I don't understand when people says he can't dribble I mean he is one of the greatest dribbler but only think is that he chose to score goal over dribbling
@@deadshell2366 I don´t think so. Ronaldo wasn´t that big dribbler and he decided to be a goalscorer (the best) because he fell more comfortable to do so .
@@Taylor___ You have to do other things so that the forward can score goals. Messi not only scores goals (just behind Ronaldo, scoring more goals than him in the ranking of 5 European leagues with 100 fewer games played than him) but he also has a vision of the game much wider, dribbles better, and has more assists. There is no competition, Messi is clearly better. This rivalry was invented by marketing. Anyone who knows a little about football knows that Messi is better, only comparable to Pele and Maradona.

I will NEVER forget it. Kids today had no idea who Cristianow was, and the level of genius he had. It was such an iconic performance, this is literally what George Best said about this match: 'It was undoubtedly the most exciting debut performance I’ve ever seen. There have been a few players described as ‘The New George Best’ over the years, but this is the first time it’s been a compliment to me. There have been players who have some similarities, but this lad’s got more than anyone else, especially as he is genuinely two-footed. He can play on either wing, beat players with ease, and put in dangerous crosses with his left or right peg. When was the last time you saw that? With Ronaldo and Giggsy on the pitch at the same time, opposition defenders will be petrified! Another thing I liked about Ronaldo vs Bolton was how he dealt with the physical side. As soon as he came on, he was clattered from behind but he just got up and got on with the game, it didn’t faze him at all. That’s the right attitude. I used to relish it when defenders were trying to kick me up in the air - it only made me more determined to take the p*ss out of them!' - end of the quote. And nowadays it pisses me off how many people repeat like a broken record the lie that Cristiano is just hard work, while Messi is only talent. This is nonsense. To climb to the absolute top of the elite level, world-class football, and do all that Cristiano did in this sport, you always need these two things: hard work plus talent. Many players work hard every single day, but they will never be Cristiano because they don't have talent, at the same time some have all the talent but are lazy, and they won't be Cristiano either. Cristiano had it all, plus he was insanely handsome and with the level of charisma I've never seen before or since. His 2005-2015 era was especially impressive, the golden decade of Cristiano! Forget Messi, Maradona, or Beckham, no one of them had a full package like Cristiano did back then: talent, work ethic, trophies, achievements, ambition, crazy mentality, media potential, looks, and popularity. Cristiano had it all at once, while Beckham, Maradona, or Messi - each one, had just a few of these things, but never all of it, like Cristiano. Examples: Maradona was a crazy talented, iconic player, had fame, and won the most important trophies, but he was never handsome and didn't have the same level of work ethic as CR did, Messi has all the success, all the talent, but similar to Maradona, he was never handsome either, now or in the past, not even close to the level of hotness of the young Cristiano, plus, Messi still doesn't have the same level of popularity and fame as Cristiano, just compare their social media following, but also how crazy streets are wherever Cristiano goes, there is no question that Cristiano's fame, influence & popularity is much bigger than Messi's. And the last one, Beckham: young Beckham was handsome and had success and talent but NEVER the level of talent of Cristiano, never the countless achievements as Cristiano, nor fame comparable to CR's. See? Cristiano is just unique! This is why it's important to remember Best's quote because so much crap is talked about Cristiano nowadays by foolish kids who weren't even born when Cristiano was already a star, and they have no idea about football. It takes one to know one, and Best, in this one quote, described all that Cristiano was and had: his immense talent, his amazing physicality, his ambition, his fighting spirit, and his football abilities. Cristiano through the years was a genius winger, midfielder, striker, he absolutely dribbled great when he was younger, he did insane runs on the wing, had a brilliant cross, was brilliant at freekicks, and he did it all with two brilliant legs!! Cristiano may be the first player ever who doesn't have a 'weaker leg', just look up his numbers! Haaland and Mbappe are great for the modern era, but this is why, all they do is just run and score - because the modern game is all about athleticism and results. Cristiano had all of that and more and played joga bonito, he was a showman with countless tricks in his arsenal. You won't see Haaland or Mbappe doing it at all. Vinicius or Bellingham are also amazing, but again: they don't have it all, like Cristiano did. From an even bigger perspective of time, people will see even clearer than today, that Cristiano, was and is, a completely unique player, one that comes once in a lifetime!!
