I would also remind about 1) refund scams (give money to get refund) 2) Repair scams Microsoft or Antivirus repairs online 3) once scammed you are on a list that will be shared with other scammers.

Donating money is okay; but charity and non-profit organizations then give out our names to others.
Also getting many letters of pressure tactic to become legacy donors. Do not fall for it because we are struggling!

also ask a question that only your child or grandchild would know, for instance with your child what was your first pet's name

What I don’t understand is that old people were young once and I’m sure they were not as trusting with scams back then. What changes with a person to suddenly trust people on the end of a phone?

Did we have smart phones and tablets back then? No we didn’t. A problem is they don’t know how to use them properly and another thing is people weren’t as crooked back then

Yea... You also have to be cautious with the "CAREGIVERS" that you have or try to get... Especially when being disabled... Old and in a wheelchair... I have been having difficulty finding any that actually do not try to take advantage of you... Seems they feel because "YOU NEED THEM" and can not do anything without help... They can get away with abusing their position... As well as taking advantage of your willingness to help them by taking things... Or when they ask for something... You let them take it or have it for almost nothing... Because you are helping them and they said they will be there for you... For "AS LONG AS YOU NEED THEM"... "DO NOT WORRY"... "WERE NOT GOING ANYWHERE"... "WE'LL BE HERE TILL THE END"...

When I was in my early 30's I had just broke up with my b/f after 12 years together, we also had a house together. I wasn't able to make my mortgage payment on time, so I tried to get a payday loan online. Once I signed up, I kept getting phone calls. One lady with an Indian accent mind you, called and said my credit is just about to the point where I was able to get a $3000 loan instantly sent straight to my bank, but I needed to raise my score 3 more points to get it. To get it up 3 more points all I had to do was send her $250 which would be considered my "first payment" on the loan. I was desperate and totally fell for it. I didn't have $250 in the back, but she then convinced me to go to Walmart make a small purchase and get cash back.. at the time my bank would allow it, and I would just get an overdraft. So I did it twice, to get her the $250. Once she gave me the information of where to send it, ASIA I knew I was scammed. But still I had that glimmer of hope thinking this lady was so nice, I have to believe her. To make a long story short, I was completely scammed. She took advantage of my desperate situation, and I asked her, how can you even live with herself for doing this to people.. I trusted her.. like I said, she sounded so caring and acting like she really wanted to help. She deserves an Oscar for her acting job that's for sure. .. and I deserved a dunse hat. I have an above average IQ, so I cannot believe I fell for it. Desperate people do dumb things is all I can say! After all said and done with my $35 overdraft fees I was like negative $320 in my bank. Luckily I swallowed my pride and finally called my dad, and he helped. He also told me, I should have just came to him in the first place.. but I was always that kid that never wanted to ask for help from the parents. So that's my bad. RIP Mom and Dad and thank you for all you've done for me and my siblings! 🙏
