for a bit of redundancy, you could also set up a dumping station, so after delivering items, it dumps anything it didn't transfer and those items go back into the system ready to be added to the truck again. Because even if you put threshold switches to turn off sending a particular item, you'll still have some that might backup your truck's storage
Beardy you need to make sure the funnel that leads to the storage interface is only turned on when there's a vehicle at the station, otherwise you'll end up breaking your system with an overflow that'll creep up faster than you think.
That’s what I was thinking. Have the same redstone signal inverted on the output funnel should work, right? Edit: Wait, but how would he hide the inverter…🤔
@@Otatsuke instead of having the funnel stop, have the conveyor belt stop during non loading times (can be achieved by having a clutch in the rotation line hidden under the land)
Hey Mr Beardy! Great vid as always. I did notice a small flaw with the loading bay thing. The system you made holds three stacks of each item ready to load onto the truck, stopping more from entering the big vault. The problem is the belt that goes from the vault to the storage interface, as it can also hold a few items. This means that things happen as follows: The delivery truck docks in the "murphy's pickup" station, locking the brass funnels to keep them from overfilling the truck. Then, when the vault has emptied into the truck and the truck leaves the station, the brass funnels are unlocked in order to fill the now empty vault. THIS is where the problem happens. The first two stacks of items to enter the newly empty vault come out onto the belt that connects the vault with the storage interface, therefore not being counted by the smart observers that limit the stacks per item in the vault. This means that every batch of items transfered by the truck is not totally balanced, which could lead to the overflow problem you explained early in the vid. Sorry for the long explanation, and hope this helps! (P.S. i will reply with possible solutions)
First fix is to (if possible) connect the vault straight to the truck, not using items with an item buffer slot(like a belt, chute etc that hold items in them). Can't think of such an item on your modpack, but there might be a way! Another solution is to turn the vault into a sort of "air lock". To do that you add one more redstone link pair, one of which will be on the brass funnel that empties the vault, and the other is activated when the "Murphy's pickup" station has a "train" in it, just like with the ones that keep the vault from overfilling with one item. Then, you can invert the signal and make it so that when the station is occupied, the vault filling funnels are locked and the vault emptying funnel is unlocked, and vice versa for when the station is empty. This means that no items will leave the vault unless a truck is in the station, so only the exact amount of items you want get loaded into the truck.
There's a much simpler fix: Just set your warehouse limits so that there is always at least, say 10 stacks of extra space for each item, instead of only needing 3 stacks of extra space. That way, even in a worst case scenario, there will always be enough room in the warehouse to fully empty the van.
for this problem a simple fix should be that the funnel that extract the items from the vault should be powered by a redstone link so its innactive and when the truck arrives, the train station emits the redstone signal that deactivate the redstone link that was powering the funnel so it is only active when the truck is in place hope it makes sense
To prevent the truck picking up to much of an item that you already have stored in the station storage you could put stock readers there and have them also shut off the loading into the vault at Murphy's. Similar system could be set up between the station storage and main storage so only the items needed are transported.
Mr Beardy, a suggestion on your loading system for your delivery van. It seems that the conveyor belt used to load the van is constantly moving. The problem with this is when your vault is filling, some items leave the vault instantly and onto the belt. This results in the thresholds resetting and allowing more stacks of the item into the vault (essentially ruining the purpose of the system in the first place). I’d suggest adding a clutch to the conveyor belt rotation line that receives an inverted signal from the station, the same time the links receives a signal, thus the conveyor belt will stop when the van has left, and won’t act as extra storage which allows more stacks than it should. Kind regards and Merry Christmas.
every time you post a video i look at the title and chuckle saying "you WOULD do that!" and then have a blast watching your vids. youre my favourite mc creator and have gotten my partner and me into create. thanks for everything you do!!
Beardy you need to shut off the funnel/conveyor that goes into the van when you pull away otherwise the conveyor will fill up and cause extra items to go into the van
I will do once it has a cinematic area to drive through haha, is limited to just the bridge and station ATM, rest of the view is currently default MC and looks very un-cinematic! But we'll get there!
Even though I don't play with this mod since I'm more of an Integrated Dynamics player, I'm kinda curious as to how a dripstone farm/factory would work since apparently you can farm dripstone stalagmites and stalactites to make dripstone, even if it's not efficient (I mean I only care about it looking cool since that's what Create is about lol).
Instead of having "Go to station" and "Wait 0s" I think you can have it do a checkpoint or something in a station (It has to pass in the specified station)
Wouldn’t it be easier to send a single red stone signal from the train station to the connection from the storage system? Stop the flow of items through the crates while the truck loads?
I need to stop the flow of items INTO the vault at Murphy's once there are 3 stacks of each item - if it only turned off when the truck was in the station it'd get overloaded
I was referring to stopping the flow of materials when the van is loading. Instead of using all those extra u/g redstone signals, use a single one that is triggered when the van pulls up, shutting off the flow of items while the van loads. The tracking blocks with redstone signal would still be in place at the funnels to limit the 3 stack capacity in the vault.
@MrBeardstone one suggestion that occurs to me literally right now, thinking about the belts and all the times you’ve used it, you know that you have to put chaindrives or vertical gearboxes to power the shaft to different but continuous belt, it should be nice that you can power it with only one like in real world the belts have different angles and directions and it uses the same shaft, and in Minecraft you don’t have to put too many chaindrives/vertical gearboxes🙌🏾

@little_dark8593 you may have missed my explanation for only having one bogey - if I add a bogey to the front, I have no space for controls, the one on this vehicle is as far forward as it can possibly be sadly
@@MrBeardstone You could theoretically make a truck with a 2 block long hood, which would let you put the bogie in front of the control block. It wouldn't really work for a small truck, but it would let you make a tractor trailer. I think it could look really good, that style of truck is timeless, it's just the best way to put a really big engine in a truck. For a reference image, look up long nose tractor trailer, nearly all the image results are the style I'm talking about. Alternatively, you could make a cabover, with the driver a block higher off the ground, and solve the problem by making a slightly taller vehicle, using copycat layers for the roof, resulting in something 5/8 of a block taller, but with room to place the bogies under the driver. There are a few different ways to make a larger vehicle look good with more bogies, while still being compatible with your road system. I'd love to see a cabover box van with 2 bogies, and a long nose tractor trailer with 4. Or you could do a shorter tractor trailer with 2, having the truck and the trailer each as their own single bogie vehicle.
