Can you get Germolene over there in Aus ? Antiseptic cream with a mild local anaesthetic built in. Keeps the upcoming scabs supple too. Hey guys.
We used to run a pretty decent plasma cutter doing construction inside a alumimium smelter. We found that they had good duty cycle, but we could double it if not triple it by blowing compressed air inside the machine to cool it down.
We had a about 300mm of copper tube , with a heap of holes drilled in it, connected to a piece of hose with the airline fitting in it. You can zip tie the copper tube to the air vents in the machine.
Worked for our machine, it may work for yours aswell. Just a thought.....

1mm is bloody thin! Ours was built with 6mm plate and we've been told anywhere there's 20% reduction in thickness should be replaced. We put a ball hammer straight through the hull in 1 spot where it was basically only rust and paint left. Worth finding every spec of rust and eliminating the problem.

Great update you two. Amazing seeing you walking Jess like it ain’t no thing. Not so good seeing you with road rash Dame. Even your Franken-tools can fail my dude. Anyways. Great update and on to next week.
Mind, I quite like the bedroom window.

The ventilation is much improved... ive put the plate in now and i was gettign used to being able to climb in and out of the hull through the gap, now if i need to move the welder its a big effort hauling it from the bowels of the boat to the outside and vise versa

Marriage counselling 101: When your wife says "Darling, that $hit just won't fly" - pay attention to her wishes. Even better, if you suspect that she might say "Darling, that $hit just won't fly" and you pre-emptively correct your methodology - that will score a whole whack of brownie points! :)

I'd highly recommend the cigweld cutskill45
Had a cut50 razar or what ever the cheapie one was called
Any decent plasma the cuts are more stable right away without playing with any settings, I guess the electronics inside are just better at handling the peaks and troughs in current requirements
As a WA farmer that manufatures my our tools and designed a few speiallty machines, the plasma prob only gets used 10 times a year but each project is like flat out 2 days of cutting 3 to 8mm plate, it'll do 10mm but not well, I run it on 10 amps thanks to a special custom mod to the plug
It doesn't really replace an oxy torch or a grinder but a decent plasma is like using the crop tool in Microsoft paint
Draw a line on a plate and your part appears out of nowhere
Just have to wait for the eofy sale, they usually take a few hundred off the price
Running an air dryer helps the cheaper plasmas
Along with blowing air into them
And cleaning the dust out of the internals more regularly

We have managed to get the plasma spluttering back into life but it’s on its way out. We brought another cheapie but regretted it almost immediately and are getting a warranty return on it. Likely upgrade to a better machine

Did think of trying to cut the plate then round off corners, then offer up to the hull then mark round. Oops, bet that hurt like hell ouch!

    • @ProjectBrupeg
      @ProjectBrupeg  3 роки тому

Not really. Because of the various things we needed to cut around in the hull, it was always the hull that dictated what happened to the plate

Yeah the face shield is worth it when using as small bits of sand fly up an its really hard to blast for a while without it, ive never thought of the hoses failing and needing it for protection from them, bloody glad i did though

And Jess is getting dangerous again, great to see her kicking @ss & taking names 😂. Take care guys we love your channel & your mana 🤙

Holy hell, y'all work a day job *and* do this? I think I knew this before, but.. wow.
I cringed when I saw that sandblaster pop. I've been reading up on hydraulic injection injuries and I thought that was the pressure washer going off... very glad it was "minor"!

Yeah dumb mistake, i should've taped the rubber hose to the lance and it would've prevented the issue but i got tired and cut corners. and paid the price!

It’s not normally an issue. It was a fault of the machine. Face safety is our biggest concern. Jess
