This was a great video! one of your best I reckon. Super smart using the plasma more these days! the grinding just looks sooooo painful. Hope you guys are both happy and well, thanks for the entertainment.
Thanks Nathan. Yeah I (Dame) work full time and try to jam in as many hours as possible on the boat. Jess works full time on Project Brupeg as each episode takes around 30hrs to edit. Every other minute is spent sorting our daily living stuff and boat parts. We would both absolutely love to be full time on the boat but we are not there yet

A fella on night shift a maybe 10 or 15 years ago was killed at tropical reef shipyard up a bit from you in Cairns when sandblasting, he dropped the hose and the nozzle whipped into his stomach and ripped him open, allegedly the Deadman (safety switch) had been ductaped closed. Great work and she's really coming along nicely 👍
Im glad the injuries were relatively minor Damp..My younger brother has no muscle above his right knee from a wayward whip hose and an inattentive offsider so i would hate that to be even close here for you guys..Good to see Bruce in his usual form with those spanking overhead welds..Getting close now you guys..

Can you get Germolene over there in Aus ? Antiseptic cream with a mild local anaesthetic built in. Keeps the upcoming scabs supple too. Super pleased to see your mobility improving by leaps and bounds Jess (no pun intended). Regards from a locked down Wales UK.
Love the hole in the side of the boat, perfect for a "ranch slider", muster up a fold down deck, and lots of buckets if its below the waterline. Great work guys. I get the comment about working hours, I am rebuilding a boat (from ex Bundaberg) and trying to finish it before xmas - major hull job.
Jeez... that hose blowing off was scary. I assume Jess is a trained nurse, she certainly looked like she knew what she was doing with the first aid. Great to see here feeling so much better and a lot more energy.
Hey guys. We used to run a pretty decent plasma cutter doing construction inside a alumimium smelter. We found that they had good duty cycle, but we could double it if not triple it by blowing compressed air inside the machine to cool it down. We had a about 300mm of copper tube , with a heap of holes drilled in it, connected to a piece of hose with the airline fitting in it. You can zip tie the copper tube to the air vents in the machine. Worked for our machine, it may work for yours aswell. Just a thought.....
Oh man, sand blasting your arm - ouch 😖. I had to watch the second half of the video twice as the first time I was still squirming over those red stripes on Dame’s arm. Well done mate for not milking it - I’d have gone down like I’d been shot.
1mm is bloody thin! Ours was built with 6mm plate and we've been told anywhere there's 20% reduction in thickness should be replaced. We put a ball hammer straight through the hull in 1 spot where it was basically only rust and paint left. Worth finding every spec of rust and eliminating the problem.
Yeah everyone has their own approach. Commercial or expedition boats are in a different situation than a causal boater. We try to stick to survey requirements.

Any decent plasma the cuts are more stable right away without playing with any settings, I guess the electronics inside are just better at handling the peaks and troughs in current requirements
As a WA farmer that manufatures my our tools and designed a few speiallty machines, the plasma prob only gets used 10 times a year but each project is like flat out 2 days of cutting 3 to 8mm plate, it'll do 10mm but not well, I run it on 10 amps thanks to a special custom mod to the plug
It doesn't really replace an oxy torch or a grinder but a decent plasma is like using the crop tool in Microsoft paint
Draw a line on a plate and your part appears out of nowhere
Just have to wait for the eofy sale, they usually take a few hundred off the price
Running an air dryer helps the cheaper plasmas
Along with blowing air into them

Lucky it didn't hit your eyes shows how important your eye protection was.
Yeah the face shield is worth it when using as small bits of sand fly up an its really hard to blast for a while without it, ive never thought of the hoses failing and needing it for protection from them, bloody glad i did though
Hoo boy we hope Dame is ok, that's gonna sting a bit in the shower 🙄...had my share of gravel injuries & I think sand looks worse. Keep an eye on infection guys but we're sure you'll be ok. And Jess is getting dangerous again, great to see her kicking @ss & taking names 😂. Take care guys we love your channel & your mana 🤙
bugger Dame, that looks a wee bitty sore, take care matey
I cant imaging myself wearing shoes up on the bed unless they're brand new or absolutely clean
What if your a rebel at heart?
I thought you were going to finish off your left arm with that last piece from the side of the hull, from the TV series Hill Street Blues,"Lets be careful out there", stay safe good luck.
"Darling, that $hit just won't fly" AKA, when the klaxons blare and you usually get caught with your pants down, staring like a deer in the headlights.
Ouch! Nothing worse than a bit of Road-Rash...... Came off my mountain bike when I hit a sheep and took the skin off my left ribs....bloody sore!
Holy hell, y'all work a day job *and* do this? I think I knew this before, but.. wow.
I cringed when I saw that sandblaster pop. I've been reading up on hydraulic injection injuries and I thought that was the pressure washer going off... very glad it was "minor"!
Yeah dumb mistake, i should've taped the rubber hose to the lance and it would've prevented the issue but i got tired and cut corners. and paid the price!
I was thinking 'pretty casual gear for sandblasting'...
It’s not normally an issue. It was a fault of the machine. Face safety is our biggest concern. Jess
I got “the count”reference! lol
Excellent
