Massive job getting that V-Berth clear!, when the time comes to put it all back, I’d be using rubber, colour matched bungs that simply push in and pop out, (cabinet makers trick😉) good luck, will be watching
Haha, no I’m talking about when you put your timber lining boards back in the Vee berth, put rubber screw caps over all those screws so you never have to drill them out again, they just pop in and out with a fine needle screw driver, basically screw caps, unless I wasn’t seeing it properly?
Well, you have a great start to your refit. I hope everything goes smoothly, which never seems to happen with boat work, but we can hope. Looking forward to following you, as I do "Magic Carpet II". Even though it is highly unlikely that I will ever have to do this type of work ,I still find it fascinating. Take care, be safe and slave on.
I am likely too late here but have you thought of having a metal thickness survey done? That would tell you where the metal is pitting or getting thin. There was a trend a few decades ago to spray foam like that to insulate the boat, the issue is that it also traps moisture between the hull and the foam and you get some degradation of the foam so you get poultice and crevice corrosion on the metal plates. I cannot wait to see next week!
Luckily for us the paint job done on the rest of the hull was great, so there aren’t any rust issues under the spray foam except for where the deck has rotted through from the bulwarks. We got lucky!
Haha definitely! We used to be the type of people that would lol I’ve in a different house every few months. I think moving off of a boat is still more difficult though. It’s harder to get boxes to and from 😂
i've got a big teak tree in my yard here in thailand...it's yours for the taking if you damage some of your teak. : ) good luck with your projects. looking forward to seeing how it all unfolds. you mentioned getting advice from sailing channel magic carpet...isn't YT a great resource for so many things? makes me wonder how we got without it (and google of course).
oh wow must be a beautiful tree! Yes UA-cam is great for knowledge! We owe a lot to all the people so graciously putting all this info into the world for free!
@@WaywardLifeSailing it's a horrible tree actually. it drops leaves bigger than pie plates. we're only about 450km away from the closest ocean so just just have to sail over here and pick it up.
Dame from Project Brupeg sent me here. Liked the first of this series so I'll check out another.
Welcome Bob! Thanks for checking us out :)
Good job.
Thank you!

you mean using rubber for the chain to sit on?

Great episode , good call on removing the wood and insulation.
We thought so too 😂 would have def had some fires by now if we hadn’t done so

It is very like moving house (which I have done too many times) except, as you said, the furniture.

Can you tell what type of adhesive it is? Would a heat gun help? Good Luck!
I think if we had used the heat gun that we would have ended up burning the wood 😞
How I hate spray foam.
It’s definitely a pain to remove or install, but it does the job so well!
Hi you'll brupeg sent me to check you guys out and subscribe
Awesome! Brupeg are the best. Thanks for coming over 😌 I hope you enjoy.
