One more thing about the octopus is that you can also treat it as your debit card. Once you top up the card you can even use it at places such as 7-11 and some fast food restaurant like McDonald’s as well.

Well... Taking the taxi is not always a bad thing. There are a multitude not ways to get around HK and taxis are sometimes cheaper. Case in point... Taxi from Shamshuipo to airport now around 350 HKD. Airport express will be over $110 HKD. With 3 ppl, it's more economical and hassle free with taxi. There are many places where public transport is not accessible or very slow. If you are short on time, taxi can be much faster. For instance to go to PoFuLam.... Public transport can be a pain. Taxi is much easier. Whenever I'm in HK, I'm only there for a few days at a time, so time is of an essence, so I choose between the many forms of transport that balance time utilization and cost.

There is kinda misinformation. Taking a Taxi in Hong Kong is not a bad idea, esp at night when the traffic is easy.
Please learn more about the background of the extradition law,. A guy killed his gf in Taiwan and came back to Hong Kong but there is no formal law to be applied to sent him back to Taiwan for trial, it was a law for all countries and not only to China.
