Here's my Top 19 of Eurovision 1979. This is a very polar year, with great songs and rubbish songs. I like it overall, but there are much better years coming very soon. Hope you enjoy!
A shame you have Norway so low, my winner that year! But I'm so happy Disco Tango is getting its deserved recognition, both Denmark and Norway are some of my all time favourites (and so are Tommy's other songs).
I feel like "all-time favourites" tend to come with eachother in certain years and then there's none in other years. Denmark is the only song this year I like enough that it could become an all-time favourite, but since it's the only one I might care to listen to from this year, I don't bother and instead listen to my many favourites of another year, leaving Disco Tango out in the cold. Just an interesting phenomenon I've noticed.
19- Stick with the playboy modelling 18- He is a happy man, and so am I when I hear this 17- It's very cute and pretty 16- Probably the weakest of the catchy songs 15- It's pretty boring 14- Our entry, we would have won if we sent Agadoo 13- Really fun and enjoyable 12- First Charlie Chaplin, now Socrates, I rather Charlie 11- It was heavily underrated 10- As was this 9- I go mad for this. Such a crazily good performance 8- It's a sweet song and I like the kids as well 7- It's catchy but not much else 6- Well, it's different but clever. Who knew playing a Watering Can would work 5- It's such an uplifting and colourful entry 4- It's Cher! The song's pretty boring 3- My favourite, another amazing winner from Israel 2- Lovely performance, good song as well 1- It's a good performance and although it's great, it's my least favourite of Tommy's performances

1979 had a thoroughly deserving winner but some of the other songs were terribly underrated and some were horribly overrated (especially Spain). My points for 79 are: 1pt France 2pt Portugal 3pt Denmark 4pt Austria 5pt Greece 6pt Sweden 7pt Norway 8pt Netherlands 10 pt Finland and finally ISRAEL 12 POINTS!
19 🇮🇪 Makes the casual viewer like me terribly unhappy. Or is it his smell ? 18 🇮🇹 Every country has a bad year,even Italy, respectfully, NO 17 🇬🇷 Didn't know Socrates's pastime was to strangle chickens. I'm not just talking about the voice but the repetitiveness here. 16 🇨🇭 Ok we get it, it's you're 3rd participation, WE'VE SEEN YOU ! Goes through one ear, and out the other. 15 🇲🇨 This compared to the other songs below made a country withdraw ? A bit silly. As for the song, it's bad but audible. 14 🇦🇹Can not think of a cornier song title for this year. Extremely heavy-handed but still a nice listen sometimes 13 🇳🇱 Wth are they wearing? They sound like kids in a playground , maybe not in Colorado but more upnorth ? Still catchy-ish 12 🇬🇧 Putrid singer but I am able to look past that and think how the song slaps! Perfect result. 11 🇱🇺 It's ok, just nothing noticeable other than a nice statue behind the singer ! 10 🇪🇦 I wouldn't say it's my song, but it's ok. Didn't deserve 2nd by any means, these children need to learn modesty. 9 🇸🇪 Singer seems like he's about to explode. Good thing he didn't, because the song and him are quite likeable. 8 🇳🇴 Nice, except it's not my name. Hence the placement! 7 🇫🇮 Strong and solid chorus. And boy, she could sing ! Just not as special. 6 🇧🇪 I feel like Bully Maguire walking down 7th avenue listening to this, GROOVY ! 5 🇵🇹 This is the most soul-influenced song I've heard from Portugal, they should do this more often ! 4 🇩🇰 How come we've never heard of Tango in discos ? I love it, and the song's a great ad to it ! Fun to sing along. 3 🇩🇪 They truly put on a show, between the epic orchestration and the fun choreography. Genghis Khan really must have been a party guy. 2 🇮🇱 Talk about grinding harmonies in Eurovision! True milk and honey to my ears ! 1 🇫🇷 Is she singing about young Louis XIV ? If not, then this might be the best Eurovision song ever !
I respect people's opinions, but I really don't get the hype over the German entry this year. It just annoys me nonstop from start to finish and the lyrics are also very bad (I translated them.) And somehow it is one of the most (maybe even the most) loved Eurovision songs of all time.

You called it right - Denmark was indeed #1 in 1979. Their follow-up selection in 1981 wasn't bad, either.
