The polish on the 904L spoke for itself when I could clearly see your face reflected on the chamfer of the crown side. As I’ve commented on other channels, Wise deserves serious respect for working with this metal. Yes, it is softer than 316L, but it is much more resistant to chloride (salt) attack thank to the extra molybdenum. The next mission for Wise, in their evident mission to embarrass some of our fave Swiss watch brands, is to do a tool watch version of the Adamascus in 904L, but with a media-blasted finish. That polish is a work of art and a testament to what Wise is doing from a QC perspective, but it will scratch on contact with oxygen (figuratively). To unlock the corrosion-resistance of 904L, it needs to be finished in a more durable manner. Anyway, love what this brand is doing, love their design language, love that it’s from Bangkok (a city I love/hate), love the value proposition, and am just psyched to see what they do next.
Thanks for your thoughtful comment and shouting out chemistry
This is probably the 5th vlog I've watched about the review of the Wise Adamascus AD8. I'm still trying to decide to get one, there are so may choices and I do agree with you that the finish and the design would certainly make this a high end microbrand watch. Thanks for another wonderful review Dave.
I'm still trying to decide whether to get their new true gmt or this one. I will let you know once I get it. The one I bought, is the one with the Thai numbers, the Hitman.

This truly is a fine looking watch, especially that case! I'm usually not a fan of textured dials, but this one looks good. Glad so see they took advantage of the Miyota 9 series and made the watch thin. Stellar job reviewing it, Dave!
The red version is even more attractive I think. The way this thing shines in the light is just mesmerizing. Easily the best affordable “desk diver“ of the year.
U.G., check out the Islander ISL155, $429, same movement, and 3 other colourways.
Dave, I purchased one based largely on your review and one or two others, and I have to agree. It is a superb piece, great to look at and with great specs.
Everyone comments on the dial. I think maybe the answer to what inspired it is in the opening video montage at 0:40 … the reflection on the texture remind me of the patterns on the surface of the ocean, in abstract. Works for me, at least!
I got the red dial version a couple weeks ago. It's not my most expensive watch, but it has easily become my "best" watch - a stunner in nearly every way. The rubber strap is probably also the best strap I own now.
I love it!! If was able to be in this price range, I'd be ordering it today.
I love what they did with the Miyota. The balance wheel and everything else in the case makes it very appealing. They should do this with the rest of the line. Im liking this brand a lot more now.
Have had the limited edition for a while now, and love, love, love it. Easily one of my faves, and can hang with my luxury big boys. At 579, it is a no brainer, and honestly one of the most comfortable wearing watches, on that leather, that I own. Super classy.
Stunning and classy and refined. Definitely going in my collection. Great review, appreciate your efforts
I purchased the Adamascus AD1 in December. The lume is the identical Super Luminova vintage as on the black bay i bought in 2012. I timed the lume decay results and they were identical, even after 10 years. I luv this watch
Another great review. Really like the look of this one. Regarding the loose keepers on the leather strap, it may sound barbaric, but I nearly always put a drop of super glue on any keepers that aren't fixed. Even on expensive pieces. Having said that, I rarely sell a watch that I've done that to. It just means the keeper doesn't migrate from its ideal position for my wrist. I think for the price the two straps supplied are great. To add a DECENT bracelet would have added to the price and if the same grade and finish of steel was used it would be scratched far too easily.
i always glue my keepers too lol. i was actually wondering if there were other people out there that did it
Good for you, I know someone who chiselled off the cyclops on his Sub...people tell him they can tell its a knock off🤣🤣
My birthday is coming, you could buy this for me any time, Thank you for your time we do appreciate your reviews, keep it up.
Agreed with the quality on offer here. Got the limited, non date version of the Adamascus, and it is stunning. Superior to my Zelos Spearfish, with an equally accurate and well decorated rotor and movement. Considering this blue date version, and also looking at the nice Bronze/red version, but not keen on the Patina that the bronze would eventually get. This style of watch is best well looked after, not really a tool diver type. Thanks for the review, and another potential credit card spin....
This watch just looks so good! I know it will pick up scratches super quick, but that mirror polish really makes it stand out from the rest (yes, I avoided the "shine" pun)
Fascinating watch, love the dial design. Do you know how many layers of lume they used?
Compared to Balticus Moonfish which uses exactly the same mechanism and 904l steel, this nice piece looks like a bragain.
One of the best I've seen in recent times. Love the vintagey skin diver look with an amazing dial, lume and incredible build quality. Even if it was a bit lesser in build quality, it would still be an amazing watch with that look.
I enjoy your reviews straight to the point.
An absolutely spot on handsome watch and excellent review, Dave. I'm putting this on my list of watches to buy.
Really like the design of this one! The dial texture is especially pretty. I think you should check out the Photic Diver, by Clemence. Soon to launch yet, but I think you would like the design, it looks really good.
That mid case is beautiful! Love the stretch and curve of the lugs too. Dial looks killer! Lume champ!!!
Nice watch presented in an excellent video. I can't help but wonder, does the micro brand world need another diver? Also this model is a significant jump in price over their Hitman line of watches which are arguably better priced.
That’s such incredible value! I’d love to add one of these to my collection!
Gorgeous watch and superbly detailed review. Many thanks!
Nice review, Dave. I look for Dial, Case Material, uniqueness. This one really is beautiful! You get a lot for your money. Definitely on the list now. "So Many Watches, Not enough (Money)(Time)".
Great video. Could you tell me what. One of my next target on the steel bracelet. Could telle me what is the size of your wrist please ?
I love the Opinel knife on the back . And I love the watch too ^^
Gorgeous watch. I liked it best on the pale blue rubber strap. I wish you'd told us more about who the Wise people are but to satisfy my curiosity I'll look at their website, which I want to do anyway, just to see the rest of their catalogue. Thanks for bringing a Thai watch company to our attention - I for one have many happy memories of that country.
Many people say a Diver´s watch must have a SS bracelet or rubber strap, but many of them love Panerai which is a diver´s watch provided with a leather strap in most of its models. 🙄
Great review. I am addicted to dive watches and this is very tempting.
I know the AD8 is wrong for me because I'd scratch it through sheer clumsiness, but it would start-out looking *great*. Peter Kotsa has reviewed a couple of Wise watches and they look very good - I am very tempted by the HIT-S1 with stainless insert. In fact, most versions of their "Hitman" watch are pretty tempting. Def worth keeping an eye on, but the AD8 price seems a little high no matter how nice the case finish and dial. There is stiff competition at $600 - Zelos, Aevig Huldra, Certina DS, Le Forban Malouine. Steinhart, Benarus, Baltic all hit this price bracket too.
I have the hit s1 and can thoroughly recommend it. Runs at near perfect time and the finishing is really incredible for the money. Also the brightest bgw9 lume ive ever seen. Its a large watch though and wears even larger because the stainless bezel optically makes the dial look bigger.
@@nikc1313 8" wrists, so pretty optimistic ;-)
I love the look of this one - reminds me of the 62mas but the price is a little too high for a microbrand in my opinion. However when you take price out of the equation it's a stunning little thing.
Thats a good looking watch at a very competative price, especially since Seiko's have gone up a lot.. I really like the dial..
I’m giving this watch some serious consideration. Any recommendations on how to keep it shiny and/or how to polish it up? Do you have a how-to video on that topic? I want to be sure I know how to care for something of this quality before I invest in one.
Thanks for the informative video. May I know the weight of the watch?
Very nice watch. First time watching your channel. Really enjoyed the review.
I believe the hour hand is patterned after the silhouette of a submersible.
Looks like a great alternative to the Seiko SLA043 that I've seen being given high praise. More interesting, too...
Great find! What's your wrist size please?
Please make playslist for watches with the best lume, trying to branch out aside from seiko seiko and thus wise one is a pretty solid contender
Beautiful watch, mine is on its way, great review as always
Amazing diver
Great review
Regards from Spain
Wow!! that dial!!
Looks like a good value to me. Given the specs, the apparent build quality, Dave's endorsement, and the current discounted price - count me in! Guess i better make room for another watch in the already over crowded watch box. Also, just a flat out good lookin' watch. Ooh, that lume...
It's a beautiful, uncomplicated and timeless.
Wise Thailand will release new black edition for AD8 tonight. I heard that will have only 500! I had one of Wise AD810A. It really valuable watch.
Great review, and that is why I just subscribed to your channel. I'm looking forward to more videos by you that make me go broke 🤣
Had a look at these couple of months ago fantastic looking but my collection can’t support anymore just need to sell couple on and in uk that is becoming more difficult due to eBay being saturated with watches at the moment
Nice review. I think the whole package needs a metal bracelet included.
Thanks, take care. PS. Luv the Turtle Tee.
But that sincere man on the interwebs said I can get affordable luxury by cutting out the middleman...
Nice watch but not feeling the hour hand. Why am I so picky?
I know this steel is best for polish but I still would have liked to see some contrast brushing on the case
Hi Dave. I tried the Amazon Japan. Ship to Australia site interesting watches. But when you checkout, they tell you they don’t ship. I must be doing something wrong. They clearly say ship to Australia but..anything I need to know? Please let me know if you can
Awesome dial. Very cool hands. Great color. Nice size. The polished case will let me see myself. If I happen to forget my pocket mirror. I'm not shallow, but looking good is so important to me.
Just kidding. Great review of a fine time piece.
I wonder how the lume on the current version Seiko Monster compares to this
The turtle with turtle is cool
Excellent review. Thank you
Great video and a great watch! Thanks for the info.
Man that’s fantastic looking and that lume is great.
You should check out the wicked watch pearl diver if you like lume.
🔥 Piece!!! Absolutely love these!
Will it work on smaller wrist? Let's say 16,5cm like mine?
What's not to like about this beautiful watch Oh yeah, they should have used a Swiss movement.
So bad the brand doesn't issue a matching metal bracelet along their timepiece. It's a must-have, for me.
A fully polished case is a sign it's designed for reviewers, not everyday wearers; nobody spends half a day and keep it fingerprint-free.
I agree with you but fully polished 904 is better than brushed because you can get a metal polishing cloth and take out most hairline scratches
Great looking watches 😍 but for some reasons they don't have bracelets. Even on their newer pre order releases. They should bundle both bracelets and leather strap, to make it worth while.
Miyota 90XX movements perform great, but I hate the rotor noise. It sounds like scraping a thin aluminum pot.
Unfortunately I have Wise Adamascus AD8 AD830A and I wore in 2m of water at Beach and crown failed (even though screwed all way down). It now has condensation on dial and mechanism has suffered moisture damage. I emailed Wise support to inform them of issue and they requested an image of crown to establish if anything was wrong. I engaged a local jewellery to assess watch and unable to pressure test because of moisture damage. Wise support said all their watches go through stringent cross checks before leaving factory, however it doesn’t seem so - Steer clear of Wise Time Piece watches as they all all glitzy with no substances!
How did the crown fail, did you bash it on something?
I just got to know this brand. I like their bronze case with blue dial.
More than a whiff of seiko SLA037 here, and that’s no bad thing! Wise have my attention
What an absolute stunner. Look at it!
maybe I'd jump if they put the anti scratch coating on, but that polich, whiole looking fantastic new, would end up looking pretty beat up the way I wear watches.
Pity the rubber strap isn’t shaped to the case. I don’t like the pattern on the face much either.
The price is getting a bit high for a miyota movement too.
Very nice! Good vid. Keep at it!
Recently I saw a ORIENT King Master gold and tryign to find one. This is not bad, just too $$$. I already has a Citizen divers watch with rubber strap.
Really cool watch, especially the dial. They make robust reliable cars in Thailand so why not watches?👍
Just wondering: how much do you think it would cost Wise to have a 15 second commercial on UA-cam? But Wise is wise. They just give a $600 sample of their product to a widely viewed watch channel and get a 15 minute endorsement to a target audience.
It works. These reviews tell more about a watch than any commercial could. I think watch commercials are more about promoting the brand name than presenting the product itself.
Not a fan of divers in general, but this is a looker! IF I were to purchase a diver, I think this would be it.
Great looking watch. This Wise is definitely a statement time piece first, tool watch second and seems to be unashamedly that. For under $600 seems well worth it, at $800+ that value becomes more questionable.
Although had they done some kind of hardness treatment like Traska does maybe then might be worth that extra $200 ($800). Of course moves the price up but really would add value considering how much effort they went through to use both 904L and polish it accordingly.
I'm not sure if this is Wise's first watch but they seem to be off to a great start.
Norqain has similar textured dial.
Your compensation was the watch you're using to create content.
I agree. And that's why I mentioned it.
Sold! Great presentation! Now you can work for Wise! Although any "Wise person", would spend that amount elsewhere. Good video but....
Looks great, shame that they didn't add a steel bracelet option 😀👍
Great review!
7:51 Is that a scratch in the bezel (between minutes 4 and 5)?, Has it a ceramic bezel?, Can it get scratches?.
Yes, with a diamond ring.
These are great looking watches.
This one’s gorgeous, love the case! But that hour hand...
you mentioned case design is unique which I disagree. Anyone who knows about seiko would recognise the 62 mas DNA . case , be coin bezel and the second hand
1 yr warranty? for 580 usd
Loving your clip.
I hawe WG-9 on my Ocean Titanium One and its unbelievable good all knighte but not so crayzi but enuff and its all night loom.
Hey Dave. Great video again. May I ask... I'm just getting into watches, so there is a lot I don't know. You mention that the second strap is from "FMK". Is FMK a brand or a type of straps? I looked on Google but nothing came up. Sorry to be so thick.
I actually misspoke, it's FKM, not FMk, and it's a type of rubber. It's very supple and flexible.
FKM is the type of material, a special type of rubber, softer and more resistant
@@JusttheWatch Thanks to you both.
Nice piece. But too polished for me. I'm am very clumsy, and would have this scratched quite a bit.
It looks really appealing, but the Miyota 9015 is a turn off for me (regardless of price). I wouldn't say this looks like bad value, mind you, but I'd be more interested if it had a SW200 (and cost "even more" b/c of that). An NH35 would be fine with me, because its rotor winds the watch in both directions (and will never spin like mad inside the case). I don't take kindly to unidirectional rotors 'round here 🤠
Unidirectional is the more durable mechanism.
Today 22nd September 2022 in Thailand (Lazada) 14,800 thai Baht.Great price.
Sdbc061(spb077 ) lume VS AD8 lume , please ~~~
I have 904L Stainless Steel on two Seiko Prospex PADI dive watches that I have. Another good thing about 904L Stainless Steel is that it is more resistant to magnetism.
The watch you are reviewing is lovely, I especially like the dial colour and pattern, and the hands and the indexes have a stylish look. The amount of lume around the bezel and on the hands and indexes is on another scale. That lume glows! The (wooden?) case the watch comes in, is a beautiful touch, and gives it a more premium look and feel before you have even opened it. I only wish the watch wasn’t as polished as it is, because it is going to be a scratch magnet, and that beautiful mirror polished effect will not last long.
Beautiful watch and as usual, a great review!
A shame that it's a bit small. I like to see it at a minimum of 46mm.
Lol okay shaq
Great video and looks like a nice watch. I’m going to check out the brand. You should have named your video differently though… “Is this the next Rolex Submariner destroyer!?!?” 😂🤣
Thats realy nice 👍🏻, i have the Wise Hitman and its a very high quality, and for the price 😇.. all there watches are same nice quality feel ⭐️⭐️⭐️
