I just discover this vanilla funk and the Jefferson Davis marching band 2 days ago and have been scouring UA-cam for all their vids. I can’t get enough. I was a flag girl in the 80’s and my daughter played clarinet in her band in the 2000’s. We didn’t have this kind of drum majors back then in NC…lol. Love it!!!
yeah they did you just had to look in the right place E.E. Smith, Greensboro Dudley i mean the list goes on for NC, when I was in high School we had A white drum major and that was in the 80's
I so love this band also. Especially Justin, because he and the whole band has proved we can work together as humans without blaming the color of our skin for everything. God bless you all now and forever. Wonderful young people leading the way!
I just wish this band could have been a guest show band at our northern Ohio Lake County Band show each year. This is the way bands should perform. Congrats to every person performing here. Awesome job. Hugs to you all from Illinois and Ohio.
I have three sons and raised them to appreciate people for who they are and respect their history because that is part of them and raise them up to feel good about themselves.
I look at this and yes see the white boy getting it, but not only that. The hard work and dedication of all the kids on that field is amazing! High school bands at this level in my area are unheard of so that shit is amazing all around not just vanilla funk.
please believe that young yuy getting respect because he deserves it. your entire team should get love, I lost my military air force husband. need a feel good , I go to your school. baby lived around all eiththty. is most shocking to most. that he has rethym.
I luv this video b/c you can hear all the girls in the stands screaming JH's name in high-pitched school girl voices. "Go, Justin!" Don't listen to this around a dog. They are too cute! Why is little brother the best dancer??? He's got natural rhythm in his body & he's determined to succeed & be the best drum major he can be. There are interviews of him & the band leader - Mr. Howard - online. Justin scored the highest 78/80. That's why he's the lead.
How do they top this when they get into college? I just hope that college marching bands appreciate and nurture their talent like their high school does.
Thanks @Joyce Wright for this upload. I've only seen the parade marching vids and watching this, the choreography makes so much more sense. Justin's leadership is brilliant, and the band is amazing. All the elements are great. I know he's graduated and JD has new drum majors who are also excellent. Again, thanks.

It appears that his “ y” chromosome from his ancient “ grands” has skipped more recent ones - good for him ... keep going to those outings young man ... ( from a 75y/o Genoa)

JD's band has basically been a college band for over a decade. Haven had the top H.S. band directors that come out of ASU.
Lol college is the real thing. This is only practice. Justin will be lucky to be a major at an hbu.
