    When O2 is released where does it go? does this impact the environment in the area with high CO2?

      It enters cells, where mitochondria uses it to make H20.... so the cells mitochondria is constantly converting O2 into H20, promoting a concentration gradient which pushes O2 into cells mitochondria

      Many different chemical reactions use up O2, but the vast majority is used up in the mitochondria electron transport chain

    So if we increased the pH, we would get a shift to the left similar to the R state, but if we lowered the pH it would be a right shift similar to the T state correct?

      If you increase the pH, (using the bicarbonate buffer) you will decrease the amount of Hydronium ions in the system causing it to shift right.. Thus decreasing the amount of CO2 in the system making it convert to an R state
