- Insurance Auto Auction had 254 cars they were auctioning off this week at their New Castle, Delaware lot. Some were busted up wrecks while others have a future being back on the road again.
The reasons those cars are there is so body shops can make a fortune fixing those wrecks. The DIY guys make it look easy because they are talented and knowledgeable. and also you remind me of the actor Lewis Skolnick a very good actor.
Cool eclectic auction! Love hearing your "detective work" trying to figure out the story behind each car.
And the sound of the Caprice turning over but not starting...Ah, took me back to my first car!
I worked for an insurance company for a long time, they don't end up totaled unless they deserve to be. Also, I don't know about that place, but some of these auction lots play games with the keys. We did an investigation once and got a bunch of people fired because they were hiding keys, so they could sell them cheap to their friends
Ohhhh, that makes perfect sense about the keys. At other auctions I've seen fuses pulled and fuel pumps disabled to make the cars less attractive and cheaper to buy.
@@hullinger yes, it's a dirty business; but anything to do with used cars is
What do you mean "deserve to be"?
This should be a weekly series, love the video.
Thanks for that! I'm thinking the same exact thing.
@@hullinger we need you weekly bro 👍👍
I’m here for it love that Stamp you put ,it’s part of the show !
I subscribed in hopes of weekly series
Missed that 67 GTO at the beginning. I think there was another classic in there somewhere too. Definitely the most interesting cara I've ever seen in a yard
Yeah that was NICE! I wonder what that sold for...
Touch the key fab to either the start button or right side of steering column. Love these videos.
I hate it when they sell one special car or two prior to the start of live bidding, "for an undisclosed price," out the backdoor to an undisclosed buyer. I know it happens at every single auction usually to the best two cars on the lot. Good job showing the auction.
Rust bucket for $5800?! That’ll be an $800 junk yard special when the bubble bursts
Hell no rust or not u still can get 5k off that
@@djhandy45555 You’d be a fool to pay $5000 for that car. It’ll take another $15-$20,000 to restore it. You can go spend $25,000 on a pristine condition, rust free Buick grand national, or Buick T type Regal, and get your moneys worth.
That Porsche would a perfect fixer for
Salvage Rebuild UK!
What a fun video! Loving that box Caprice. There's a great mix of cars in there. I've thought about playing around with insurance auctions, but I like the government auctions more.
That was a great walk around I like when you show different auctions the Caprice was in good condition however the Steering wheel has to go and rims and tires otherwise good looking car. Thanks Chris. 😎😎😎
I have always love this auction videos
Enjoyed the tour....sad what some people do to others (Subaru). Thanks for sharing!
Not gonna lie. I got a good laugh out of that poor Subaru because someone definitely got what they deserved. Pretty sure someone bought it just for the engine and trans, which are worth more than the $700 they paid for it.
@YouDontWannaFightMe Somebody probably cheated. That shouldn't Cost you your vehicle. Probably just a relationship.
Awesome video. Great to see you exploring different avenues of auctioning. Thanks for the video considering it must of been 110° outside today...
5800 is not that bad considering that car is getting to be rare and if you get a good guy that knows what he's doing or yourself and peace in the sections that you need that's rusted and you have a hoist or you can do it right on the ground and a good welder that car all cleaned up with a good paint job and especially with low miles original like that that car would bring 20 grand
Awesome tours from the bygone years. Very nice.
Loved the videos. We want more of them
Very Interesting, as always Chris. Enjoy watching!!
I remember a time when no one would look twice at a wagon. I wouldn’t mind coming in to this auction anytime you want. 🔥💯
I had an 83 Caprice wagon. What a car, kinda miss that beast.
I AM FROM BRAZIL AND I LOVE THIS CHANNEL, CONGRATULATIONS
Thank you so much for the kind words and thanks for following along too. Stay well in Brazil and greetings from the tiny state of Delaware in the USA.
Great video. Just goes to show you, "buyer beware!"
Exactly!
Love these walk arounds
The “SNITCH” car 😆😆😆
Dude, that Subaru had me chuckling. It was being sold by USAA so I can only guess it was a service member who's 'significant other' strayed.
Needs paintwork along with other issues…
The only thing u do with is take the engine the rest is trash..
@@hullinger the owner of that Monte Carlo should've taken that 3800 and ran.... down here he'd gotten 2500!!!
that's about 5000 in bodywork.....at least!!!
And that roadmaster wagon should go for 1500...that's a slow project car.... you could find parts easy for it but it'll take 2 years to get it on the road...done correctly
being from down south I knew that Caprice was gone.... probably down here now....not my thing...I'm sorry but I'm still hung up on that DeSoto
@@clevelandmaker386 With that rust? I’d give it $800 if it ran.
Google: "Don't buy a used Audi"
Don't buy a new Audi
Another great video!! Would very much like to see more of these
That caprice was a Beauty
Hey Chris, I like the IAA walk around! I'll watch more!
Great video.
Thanks man and glad you enjoyed it
Is it a law that all auction cars must have a tree air freshener lol? Yes. Keep doing this type of video. Really enjoyable to watch.
Very good vídeo Chris, congrats! It is clear your expertise in cars, love that. Keep it up! 👏👏👏👊 Edgar from Brazil
$700 for that Subaru is absolutely shocking. I guess it's a testament to the wildly inflated market.
The engine is worth much more than that. I hope the person that did that is cooling her heals in lock up.
An all wheel drive car, go price a drive train for one, probably 2-3k.
great vid - keep going 💪
Thanks, will do!
I like the way you keep it real.👍🏾
Cool Chevy with big wheels really looks Nice 👍
Did you not see the gto in the beginning of the video
Great job, man!
Them GM headliners. My 94 Sunbird was pretty bad. Had to flip the visors up to keep it from touching my head.
Very fun video really liked that last car do more of thesr
Hello ECC. These cars are awesome
Awsome video like all of your videos... you should do a part 2 though.. lol I was itching for more.. 😀
That was a lot of fun...
on the Panamera the 2 gauges on the right r water temp and fuel and the 2 on the left both have oil readings. top 1 must b trans temp and other motor oil.(or vice versa). nice car.
Been buying from IAA for years. They're open to the public here. "NRD" on the windshield sticker (like on that Audi) means No Run and Drive. Probably because it had no key which is common. If you're going to buy from them get used to the steep fees.
The break pedal shows way more than 11000 on the Caprice.
that caprice was sick as in very nice
I would have liked to seen that green extra cab Ranger in the background. I liked the Monte Carlo
monte carlo was cool... but not at 5800 for sure in ny you need a dealers lic to get into an ins. auction
Very nice Auto auction
Good thing that you blurred out the bad words on the Subaru. Would never have guessed what the words actually said🤣🤣
This was awesome, thank you!!
You're so welcome and glad you enjoyed it.
Yes, it was interesting content.
Very interesting If you never heard of auto auction rebuilds UA-cam channel I think it’s pretty interesting
That road master looks like it was flood damaged. Under water.
Gracias por compartir 👍 saludos
That Subaru legacy......dear gawd!!!
Insurance companies have been totaling cars the past year that normally wouldn’t be totaled due to body shops not being able to get parts in a timely manner. Some of these foreign cars like that Porsche and the Audi’s may take dang near a year right now to get parts and so it’s better for the insurance company to just cut the owner a check for the car and let them go get something else instead of dealing with unhappy owners over a repair taking so long tho. But that Porsche would be a fantastic car if you could snag it for the right price tho. It would be well worth repairing and even taking awhile but you need to get it at 25% less than your normal price would be because your gonna possibly have it tied up for a bit waiting on parts. I would check to see if parts availability is getting better tho too, it may be by now.
Either way tho, good luck on whatever you get. The caprice would be a good one too. There’s a strong, strong market for those dressed up that way. Not my cup of tea but the green it brings us so I can love it long enough to convert into the green for me!! But, it’s definitely an 111k mile car for sure, not the 11k you thought may be original. The definite give away is the carpet along side the drivers seat on the floor, it’s just worn too damn bad for 11k miles. Another good indicator to mileage is to look at the rubber on the brake/clutch pedals. If a car has 100k or more on it then almost always you’ll see the lower right hand corners of those peddles that the rubber will be either worn thru to the metal underneath or nearly worn thru but at 11k, you will see hardly any wear at all yet. Now this is not totally foolproof, someone may have gotten replacement rubber pads to put on them but it will be about 90-95% accurate. A car like this if it ran, you could flip easily in a day or two for a nice little profit without doing much at all. There’s a huge market for them but remember tho, this is not a DONK! Those guys get pretty upset when you call a box a donk and Vice Versa. The dinks are going to be your mid 70’s caprice, impala’s, etc. this is what I think they call the box but I’m not absolutely sure either. But it could be a good resale no matter what and those guys that are into them actually pay stupid money for them.
Take care and be safe out there
That SS is 305 HO 4BBL carb Turbo 200 overdrive.
Wonderful.
Many thanks!
That 2-door caprice definitely has more than 11k miles. Check out the wear on the brake pedal.
The newer vehicles especially the high end ones, the doors have to be closed to start up.
That poor Roadmaster Wagon was absolutely roached! What a shame…the owner of the Monte Carlo should have taken the $4500 and ran! That Caprice coupe is a rare bird…that grey dash trim was 85 only…too bad it was horribly molested.
I subscribed, looking for more videos
More Insurance Auction Walk Arounds !!!
I like the variety but the prices are not realistic and I enjoy the local gov auction better because its exciting that you have more of a shot to get one and make video on that car.
Thank you
I liked the box style Caprice. If I bought it, the first thing I'd replace would be that steering wheel. I get the whole to each their own saying, but that steering wheel just don't look right on the car. Maybe go back to stock or an upgraded sport steering wheel
Another nice video but bro, BRO! How can you pass up not even looking at the GTO at the start of the vid just before the fire bombed cheater car? It looked really sweet!
Need to carry a booster pack with you as most of these cars have sat for months now. The Monte SS is a cool car but it's rough (extensive body and paint resto) and no where near what the owner thinks on its value.
Now THAT is a steering wheel.
I gotta hear the story behind that subaru!
The Monte Carlo is roached. Parts car.. the caprice as a body style aged very well IMHO.
Seems like a lot of work trying to buy something with all the "if" bids. No thanks. Just put a price on it if you are going to play games.
I've only been casually following this IAAI auction over the past few weeks and it seems the number of "if" bids are increasing each week. To me at least, it says buyers aren't paying those stupid prices and cars are sitting longer. And maybe, just maybe the used car market and prices are starting to come down some.
That Infinity is inoperable. Not a rare thing in repo cars :)
That Roadmaster wagon obviously got wet inside because the sunroof. Are you a car guy at all
What’s the lowest price for a car that runs
At auction sites like that I used to be the kid in the sweat shop 😁
Got me with the Monte
Chris, did you catch the GSA auction?
Those old GM odometers were only 5 digits. Always assume you need to add 100k to the reading.
that coprice is over 100k miles always check the brake and gas peddle its a good sign of milage
The Monte Carlo is not a throttle body car, it has a Quadrajet 4 barrel.
another great video
Caprice was a dope boy car more than a 111 thousand miles but was clean can sell that car easy for 10 grand maybe 12 here with the rims and DVD player inside. Throw some flow master dual exhaust on it. We put LS motors in donks and race them in the south. Gotta know what sell in your area and don’t always look for deals. That’s the reason I don’t buy used cars they always want to get them cheap but get top dollar for them
The repos have license plates under the wipers
That Caprice would have been a great flip if the price would have been right... Forgiato wheels sell for alot. Those looked like 26s with the matching steering wheel. 4k easy on the low end, not including the car. The car another 2-3k It looked like it had a nice stereo system too. Back dash panel had the 6x9s and the seats were redone, I bet the headliner was too if they did the dash. Custom built center console...
You should have popped the hood so we could have seen that engine bay. You gotta do your homework when you see cars. Some can have a 5 grand set up in engine work, stereo systems, or rims and it would fly right over your head.
Respectfully 🪲.
You're soo right about those Forgiato wheels and steering wheel. Completely not my style or taste but yeah, that's where the $$$ was in that car.
I'm interested now need a liecence there to bid ?
tale of the tape on impala is worn out brake pedal, been around the block
Those old chevys reset the odometer every 100,000 miles , that old caprice was not original . The body was straight and seems like it was taken care of and kept in a dry environment. But 211,000 is probably closer to reality lol
I like the caprice classic
the monte and the chevy alone wouldve been a pay day the caprice in that condition about 13000
I know just enough about these cars to stay away from them. Don't need headaches like this.
I guarantee that Audi is a 2.0T with a failed timing chain: expensive fix. I just sold my 2011 VW Tiguan to peddle for that reason. Cool car though, especially with a manual transmission
Any information on a vr6 engine crap engine or good engine
@@apprenticefelix7740 I wish I could help. don’t have any experience with the newer versions of the VR6. The older ones did have timing chains that would stretch and need replacement as I recall. Ask a few shops that specialize in VW/Audi. They will be happy to tell you which to buy and which to steer clear of. The place I had look at my Tiguan had 6 dead VW/Audi’s sitting on their lot: all 2.0T with timing chain/tensioner failure. Some with fairly low mileage and None of them were being fixed by their owners. No shop wants to deal with that and will tell you so
Real Facts.
Where this place located @
I would love to go to the auction with you im from Maryland if that helps
How do I join the bidding ?
Chris 👍
I wanted to hear that caprice rumble!
You should have popped the hood on that Q3
The way I understand it insurance companies will total a car if its destruction is more than 30% of the value.
Sometimes if you get total failure of all electrical components it's due to rats or mice or even squirrels chewing up all kinds of wiring.
