In this exciting head-to-head test, we’re putting the Dream Mat Gold Cube to the ultimate challenge against the classic Gold Cube with its Cube Stack matting. We’ve got 4 ounces of gold ready to run through both systems to see which one comes out on top.
We start by dropping the gold onto a slick plate, allowing it to flow over the Cube Stack matting. right on David. dream mat works great. awesome product. i have tested the mini 6 mat many many times and the gold never migrates no farther than the first 3 rows. 👍
Is gold on it’s own a fair test? If there is the normal sand and rocks in the slice does that skew the outcome?

Thanks for the test. My hat is off to you. Cleaning my gold cube takes as long as getting the material which is why it sits in the shed and I take my cons over to my friend who has a sluice with gold hog mats. Now I can resurrect my Cube. Thanks!

I've seen people just shovel straight into the mat. I have a 1/4 classifier.
im amazed at the fine gold i caught with the dream mat. it would be awesome if you could see how much loss of fine happens with classifying to 1/8 versus 1/4 . absolutely impressed! Any other flow volume testing combined with classification testing to produce a recovery rate matrix would be the ultimate guide.

Building a 2 stage highbanker, bought a 8" Dream Mat for the upper portion and a 12" Mini Mat for the lower portion. Just about ready for testing with waterflow and angles. Mid May I'll be running paydirt through it for a few days. If there's gold in it, I'm pretty sure that it's not getting away.

To the haters: I think there has already been ample videos proving by demonstration that the Dream Mat's unique pattern and profile allows it to not only pull down and hold very fine gold...but to actually draw it back up against the flow in the sluice and capture it in the cells...if you ran it, you would see it for yourself! Then there would be a lot less speculators!
Good stuff Dave. Whats up next for the Dream Mat? Maybe a large version of the Pocket sluice? No mat, fast cleanout? Cheaper to manufacturer? I'll stay tuned.
A 6x24 would be a good size for hiking in the mountains.

I've Love The Dream Mat in all its forms Have been using them for years now and watched them work there way around the World.
Just had a bit of rain and took the pocket Sluice down to the Creek for a hour ran one full Bucket of 8mesh got a good spec count and a few flat flakes. That pocket sluice is not a toy it's a Great tool.
Now I'm on a mission to get a ounce bottle full of micron gold:)

ream mat is so imressive. ive seen nothing but good things with it.
Only thing i saw is the gold was Dry the 1st time... The other times the gold was wet alteady.... The dry gold will migrate more because it was floating.... With that being said... You are RIGHT about the mats.... Conveyor mats do lose gold... Plus bigger chunks dont get trapped and roll past unlike with the dream mat which actually will trap nuggets.... WHEN RUNNING DREDGES THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT JOB... You have to trap the gold that the miners moss misses due to speed of water or volume of material... Great video for comparison though.... Point made

Why didn't you fix the 'leak' that dumped gold between the surfaces? It made your test useless, or at the least very sloppy, and only mostly useless. It probably is a great mat, I hope so, I just bought one. At least you're having a great time.

I really like the dream mat but I noticed you had a lot of air bubbles on your cube mat and the fine gold won’t stick.
Too bad the conveyor belt sucks so bad that has the inherent flaw of trapping bubbles. Dream Mat dont have this flaw. But here is a video for the bubble excuse. We did it again w/ no bubbles & puppy kisses.

Learn how to run the cube right! You don't run it for 10 minutes to get rid of the air bubbles you brush it 1st before you run it with jet dry you put your gold in with water or material 1st also with jet dry because what you did was dump dry gold over a slick plate and an air bubble filled gold cube matting you are cheating sir.
I'll have them pre soal the beaches w/ jet dry. Good thinking

One thing about this test is you should have pulled "conveyor belt" up to look at Dream Mat beliw before putting gold on top of conveyor belt

That conveyor belt mat.. excuse me "vortex" mat is pretty terrible. You have to prefill it with sand or it will just be a bed of bubbles that cushion your gold right out the box.

Folks got allot of time & investment into products that don't have better recovery. Thus the unwillingness to abandon & switch.
Gold recovery should be top priority of any prospectors,or mining operation...Finding gold shouldn’t have pride in losing gold,and if you do operate like that you are in the wrong business..lol..

Dump gold only, and only in the center of the mat is not even close to field conditions. Test like it’s used in the field with a large qty of blond and black sand with the gold mixed in. That would be more convincing.

How about running some black sand with the gold for a accurate test and why put the gold on the matts. Would the dream matt make a difference with the gold that didn't make it to first matt. Useless test

Very easy to see the cube mat was full of air pockets and not prepped for running. We're all just trying to make a living, if you feel better to put some product down to promote your own product so be it, I'll stay with the factory issued mat prepped as instructed and quite pleased at our 100 tph WestAfrican concession. Did you get the air bubbles off your gold cube Matt it looks like you have air on the Matt?
I did another film & brushed the poor flawed silly bubbles out. But said to many mean words about flawed mat catching bubbles & dream mat dont. So I hurt some feelings. Test was the same. Vortex migrates gold more than dream mat. Bubbles or not.
Well that is a bummer but I did see where you can change out the mat. Well it’s good to know either way so thanks. Sorry people we turds to you I appreciate the information.

Ya know I have never caught gold in my 4 stack and I’ve been where gold is I talked to a person on the phone and they told me if your cube didn’t catch it you were not on the gold. Ok but I’ve now started to double ck and I’m loosing gold. I’ve had it in Az, So dakota, Idaho, Ca, and Oregon.... I can’t be that bad at this, or can I? Ha ha
Now I'm just a youtube gold miner but First thing I noticed was dam that water is going fast for the cube.
Water is at 1100 rpm, verified with bucket test filling a 5 gal bucket on a stop watch 16 secs. Next?
Any time you interrupt the water flow and start again, you're going to get migration. Once you stop the water flow, either do a clean-up or at least start the flow gradually

Bad test. the gold in the nugget trap was already there .You moved it as you did and turned the water back on you are going to get more migration . when you stopped the water you should have gone directly to the dream matt to see the blow by. Same with the dream matt and gone directly to the gold cube matt to see the blow by . There is no doubt the dream matt works . In the test you should have stopped the water, taken out the first matts cleaned the gold off and weighed it. the weight is the true difference of the 2 matts . My guess is your dream matt caught more because of the ability of the matts to hold 4 times the volume of gold . As you say conveyor belt is conveyor belt .I have tried it and am not a fan of it . I am impressed with the dream matt. Doing a bucket brigade and a sugar scoop I am not into a gold cube
I moved it on both, so dream mat also. We just wanted to see if the MAT could catch all the gold. So we emptied out the nugget catch & brushed all the gold on the mats. Conveyor belt vs a engineered gold recovery mat.
you always run your "tests" with only gold. Why not run some real world tests with placer dirt and rocks. And not sure about that volume of water maybe ok maybe not. and taking the gold out of the trough and piling it up on the gold cube mat doesnot seem like anything real world. That gold had been caught. Dan Hurd and some others have some videos running dream mat vs other mats and the real world results are about even.

How about you put your clean gold into dirt and run it. You always run clean gold. You want real results in real world testing not dumping clean gold into a sluice. These mats (goldhog, dream mat) are for hobby prospectors only. Nothing beats expanded and miners moss in real mining operations.
We have video of real world test, as far as nothing beats miners moss & expanded metal. You are wrong. We have miners all around the world laughing at you right now.
