Bucketing Dream Mat Sluice Experiment With Uneven Water Flow For Gold Recovery
Вставка
- Опубліковано 3 жов 2024
- We headed back to the creek to find gold and decided to see if we could run the Dream Mat in the sluice while bucketing the water with an uneven water flow. Unable to use any mechanical equipment as it is illegal in our state, the best method to run this small amount of material is to bucket the water through the sluice. We were quiet surprised with the performance of the Dream Mat working in an uneven water flow.
Not enough gold to retire on but a lot of fun had getting what we did get.
Cheers for watching and hope you enjoyed from the team at Groty Gold.
Equipment Used:
12 inch Dream Mat
Proline 17 inch pan
Garrett Pans

Now that's really a lot of work but it works. Good for you guys
Nice. Thanks for taking the time to make this vid. Give us more options out in the field. Nice bit of yellow in the end.
Thankyou Malcolm Cheers for watching, Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year, Alicia & Steve
Good job
Really enjoyed this video wish I could get Australia to dig so cool
Nice test !!! Merry Christmas 🎄

Groty Gold Prospecting I hope you both have a golden holidays
I became a member of the channel
Going online to look at dream mat sliuces now, good video😁
Good choice! The mat's work that's for sure i was lucky when i made this sluice box 28 years ago that the 12" dream mat fit in perfectly. The classifier does help smooth out the flow and feed rate on to the mat Cheers for stopping by all the best for 2021 guys 👍🍀⛏🇦🇺
Nice Work
Thankyou and Cheers for watching, Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year, Alicia & Steve
Yeah the community needs more real world usage videos of Dream mat. That is a setup I've not seen how it's bucket fed on the water like that. Very good results speak for themselves. Good one 👍
Another awesome episode. Thank you for sharing with us. Merry Christmas 🎁
Thankyou Mate, Cheers for watching, Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year, Alicia & Steve
That's looks like relaxing fun..... Hard work, but fun .....
Cheers for sharing
Thanks mate GL&HH
Cool video good demonstration looks like it works to me 👍🏻be safe & pan on
Thanks 👍 mate, It seems that the gold will hold on once it has a spot to sit. Cheers for stopping by.
Just got a dream mat last year, I had the same results less cons, lots of fine gold, thank you for your test.
Nice work! It does work well. Cheers for stopping by David.
Hi Guys Great to see some Gold..👍
Merry Christmas 🎄
Cheers Tony.👍🤓🍺⛏🎄
Thankyou Tony, always nice to see that shiny turn up. Cheers for watching, Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year, Alicia & Steve
I just bought a Keene A52s super sluice and will have to try that bucketing the water for when the water flow is too slow. I am going to love not having to classify.
New sluice sounds awesome, hope you catch a pile of shiny in it. Bucketing works really well for us with low flow. The no pre- classifying is the go. Cheers for watching, Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year, Alicia & Steve
Good effort people , have a great and safe Christmas !
Thankyou mate Cheers for watching, Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year, Alicia & Steve
It seemed to work well and a nice little bit of gold :)
Thanks jan we think it works well to as panning that much wash would be hard work. Cheers merry xmas and a happy new year Alicia & Steve
Proper test on no flow -on off flow for both situations Great Job Mates.Happy Holidays Down-under.
Thankyou David, we have been keen for a while to see how it would work, we were very happy with the results. Cheers for watching, Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year, Alicia & Steve
I gotta say that an awesome pan of gold....looks like some flakes in there ....
Very flat hard to catch flakes, but they do add up. It ended up being around 0.25g, so pretty happy with that.
Having a coke with the gals 😂😂😂 mans reaction 😂😂😂
Hi Alicia & Steve, nice looking bits of flaky gold . Thanks for showing your method of using this type of sluice and the results.
I'd just like to wish you and your respective families a Merry Xmas and a safe New Year.
May 2020 bring you all good health, happiness and prosperity. Thank you for sharing all your prospecting and detecting adventures, as well as your floating dredge pump build, it's been great coming along for the viewing ride !
Take care my friends 👍.
Thankyou Tim, we have been wondering how the Dream Mat would handle the flow and we are so happy that it worked the way it did. Less Cons makes us happy. A very big Merry Christmas and a save and happy New Year to you and your family. Cheers for following our channel throughout the year and hope you enjoy what we have install for 2020. Cheers for watching, happy hunting Alicia & Steve
Great video, you two. I know I love the dream mat, for several reasons. Great Test! Nice Flash In Your Pan hahaha Thanks for sharing, my friends...
Thankyou Ed, we love the Dream Mat as well, great piece of engineering. We are glad to know that we can run it successfully in the low water flow areas of the creek. We actually have your live stream running in the background playing as we right some comments, LOL. Cheers for watching, Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year, Alicia & Steve
Merry Christmas! Really terrific pan of gold at the end. I'm sold on the dream mat.
Thankyou Tony and the Dream Mat is a fantastic product we have used it for about a year and a half now and it is brilliant. Cheers for watching, Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year, Alicia & Steve
Great video 👍 really enjoyed watching this 😊 Great channel you have
Great comparison guys,
Running water isn't always available, good result at the end and it didn't look like you lost anything apart from fly poop... like your theory Steve catch and release LOL 🤣🤣👍
Great video guys love the Hat Alicia HH jim 👍🍺🍺🍺
Thankyou for watching Jim, hope this comment makes it to you, LOL. He likes to set a few free and hope they grow larger for next time. Cheers for watching, Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year, Alicia & Steve
Good video you two!!! That was interesting to see the Dream Mat was so much more efficient and faster to pan the cons!!!! Nice amount of gold also!!!
Thanks Marty, we have been wanting to try this for a while. The dream mat is awesome at holding gold with a small amount of cons. Have a happy new year mate all the best for 2020.
@@GrotyGold Cheers!
Everyone loves miners moss. It catches a lot of gold.
nice gold its good for only a few shovel fulls keep it up
Thankyou Peter, it has been a great little spot, hoping the heat backs off and head back up. Cheers for watching, Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year, Alicia & Steve
@@GrotyGold yes true the heat is bad ime heading to ceduna west south australia for 2 weeks thinking twice about it now. hope you have a great X mass and new year as well for you Steve and kids be safe
I really like that the moss and mesh is still just perfectly fine as a gold recovery method. More and more people are taking cons home to run in a cleanup sluice, so to me the amount of cons is moot unless you want to pan it out each time. To me, the time you’d spend panning the cons at the creek you could have fed another 10 shovels into the sluice. That’s just my opinion. I’d rather have the safety net of processing cons at home anyway.
I really like the gold rat classifier! Not having to bucket classify seems to make a big difference. Jason on the “Flour Gold Wizards” channel uses a piece of “punch plate” ( same as the front of the gold rat ) on top of his entire sluice and he just shovels right onto the sluice. He has good flow in his creek but I really like how easy it clears off. A big Plus for you, is unlike him you aren’t breaking up ice in the creek right now! Lol
So basically, stop being so concerned about the equipment and get out on the creek and start feeding material into it!
I really enjoyed this video! Cheers!
Jason's sluice with the full length classifier is awesome, looks like it works really well. We are lucky enough not to have ice in the creek but hot as temps over 115f, so we are cooking down here, LOL. Cheers for watching, Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year, Alicia & Steve
Awsome
Grate little test and really good to know, been running dream a year here in the UK we are not allowed high bankers or dredges so was thinking of bucketing water but was very worried with uneven flow. Thank you for trying and sharing this may try it on my next trip out.. 🤙👍
Thanks mate, When no powered equipment is allowed this is the next best way to get some done and its way faster than panning GL&HH Alicia & Steve.
Thanks Alicia & Steve for this test. Now I know if my Banker pump runs out of petrol I can still bucket the water in. I've been wondering how the Dream Mat would take uneven water flow but keep forgetting to try it.
Cheers, Ken
Thankyou Ken, we have wanted to try it out for a while and so glad we did. Less cons is awesome. Cheers for watching, Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year, Alicia & Steve
After watching a few of your vids using this sluice, I made one of my own. I used Pvc Coil Cushion Mat from Clark Rubber for the Miners Moss and put a rubber mat with circle divots in it. I used a gold rat 12 inch blank box but wish I had done a 10 or 8, The clean up was a bit annoying and quite heavy to mess around with, I used a 12 inch electrical cable tray from a nearby skip bin for the classifier, did its job. My second attempt is using astro turf and the circle divot mat on top. I may still grab an 8 inch blank and try another one. I put a few slots and used all thread as cross members to keep the matting down. To make the legs I have purchased a cheap shelving kit from bunnings and it will work fine. Great vid thanks! 😀
Annoying to say, but the one time I have used this the creek was running with snow flow water and absolutely freezing! I know where there is gold but have to wait for the water to drop ( I had to get in the water up to my waist) outside temp was nine degree's and I could only do a few buckets! Cheers
Nice work mate we love home made stuff we hope you find some sweet shiny with it. Steve made our 12" sluice back in 93 it has been a highbanker in a past life and it is still working 29 years later. Cheers for watching. Alicia & Steve.
@@dataglasses Mate that cold water is no joke. When we work in snow melt we try not to get wet as it can end your day early it's hard core working that water good luck mate.
@@GrotyGold Yep we hate the cold! I am waiting for a set of wetsuit pants and booties from china, $46 is cheap enough.
Nice job! Soz I'm late. Need to try this top classification again, maybe with checker mesh to try catch the nugs wer I go💛
New sub! Awesome video
Nice one gang
Yea the dream Matt is the go ay
Better results and easy clean up
Cool guys
Wishing you and family a merry Christmas and happy new year
Crouch
Thankyou Crouch, It's an awesome bit of gear and your right about the cons, less is best. Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and a safe and awesome New Year. Cheers for watching, happy hunting Alicia & Steve
Great video, loved the music, I was enjoying the whole video!
Thankyou and we are so happy you enjoyed. We just have to say we love your product with the effort and engineering put into the design, it's an absolute winner. Cheers for watching, Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year, Alicia & Steve
Awesome
Ordered a 10x36" Dream mat from River Rat in Aussie land. It's ALL on back order. I paid $206 to have it shipped to Oregon, even paid Express shipping. (Y so high) 🤦♂️ still hasn't gotten here in 2 weeks. Once it got to LA, it disappeared. Think the tracking number changed wout me knowing. But yeah, If your planning a trip and want one.....ORDER EARLY.
Oh yeah, thanks Groty, it was this video that sold the Dream Mat for me.😉
International postage can be a long time sometimes, we buy hotrod parts out of the US and can take weeks, thought you would have been able to buy Dreammat in the US thats were it comes from, Gold Rat have the rights to manufacture and sell in Australia, Dreammat the Company sell world wide.
I see these dream matts on ebay today june 2021 not that much money so worth seeing if its what your after 👍
Good to see you back mate. We highly recommend the dream mat and all gold rat products.
You are both right, Dream Mat and Gold Rat are awesome products. Cheers for watching, Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year, Alicia & Steve
awesome
Thankyou and Cheers for watching, happy hunting Alicia & Steve
Gonna try something similar with the mini dream mat
Nice test team Groty ! Not bad color I would use the dream mat too ! Merry Christmas and cheers 👍⚒😊
Thankyou Todd, Love the Dream Mat and less cons to deal with is always a plus in our book. Cheers for watching, Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year, Alicia & Steve
Cool first to watch 👍
Wowzers that was quick, LOL. See you soon.
They are using the Dream Mat on beach gold here in Washington State. That says a lot as it is really fine powder.
Its great matting, we love dreammat.
Nice jpb!!
Thankyou and Cheers for watching, Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year, Alicia & Steve
Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year back at ya!
Nice, I was thinking you were gunna run the cons of the miners moss through the dream mat. Would've saved a bit of time panning all those cons off.
It would have saved heaps of time, now knowing how well it works. Cheers for watching, Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year, Alicia & Steve
Heckuva, that's Motherlode yields!!
Thankyou and Cheers for watching, Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year, Alicia & Steve
Hi A & S, Once again you have nailed the presentation. That is the way I'm going as I have the 6 inch from Justin, need to get the punch plate setup.
Merry Christmas. Dennis
Thanks Dennis it works well and you can get some done witch is hard without a pump or water flow keen to see how you go with it. Cheers merry xmas and a happy new year Alicia & Steve
If you haven't seen already , Look up PVC Ram pump or Bunyip water pumps . Easy to build , No electricity ,No gas and No bucketing water . Great for river sluice . You could do a video on parts list and build.
Interesting when l first seen the dream matt a few months back l didn't think it would work but after seeing your test it looks like it works well. Bucketing all that water is a bummer though
Good experiment Guys , i suppose anything that saves time ,and still obtains the same yield , is a plus , and that's what it's all about , not having the boring job of dealing with too much overburden , so thanks for the insight , cheers guys well done , and Merry Xmas to you both and your family , stay safe .
Thanks for watching Ned, it did work well and will save a lot of time in the clean up. The blue bowl might stay dry for a while Cheers merry xmas and a happy new year Alicia & Steve
You`re an excellent play by play narrator. Nice gold quite chunky. I didn`t see much micro like what was in your tailing pan, do you think you might have much more if you were in the finer gold?
Thank you very much! The test pan was taken closer to the bank as we dug out into the middle more the gold got bigger so that is what we went after. Cheers for watching mate👍
I am really glad you did this video, I am in Tassie and we aren't allowed any pumps at all so this method is about the only way other than panning that we can legally use. I have a sluice with the dream mat in it and i couldn't find any other videos addressing the uneven water flow issue. The only other issue is does it matter what angle you have the sluice at? I am thinking that the forward classifier needs to be nearly level and that will give the water a better flow rate and make the classifier work better?
Thanks for watching mate, We wanted to know what would happen to it when used like this and was very happy with the results. the sluice was on a steep angle to help clear the black sands. Cheers good luck & Happy hunting.
Very interesting video guys, well done. What angle did you run the dream mat at when bucket feeding.
G'day Mick the sluice is set up fairly steep guessing around 15deg. we have never checked the angle properly its set up so the black sand will clear with a few runs of water it works well. Cheers for stopping by 🍻🍀⛏
Would like to have seen if any gold losses from the first set of mats.
We have ran the miners moss and carpet in a few previous vids and there was always a very small loss which was about the same as the Dream Mat run. The big difference was the amount of cons left at the end and now knowing the Dream Mat will run with the uneven water flow it wins out big time, due to the small amount of cons left. Cheers for watching, Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year, Alicia & Steve
Just like using an old Rocker Box
Is that sluice classifier home made, or where can I get one from please, looks really handy.
ever consider using these dream mats in your makeshift hand dredge?
Yep
The only question remaining is, how long to justify the expense of the dream mat?
Looking like it's gonna pay for itself pretty quickly 😯
What is the name of the sluice you are using and the classifier that goes in it? Thanks.
We call the sluice the old girl Steve made it in 93 the classifier is a Gold Rat one. Cheers for watching mate.
@@GrotyGold Thank you! I enjoy watching your content :)
I'd go back, work that perla spot & get rich. 👍
An 8" Dredge would be the go and the clean up would be fun.
390th👍
Does it matter the last few inches of that sluice mat are left uncovered and could be bashed by bigger rocks in the classifying stage? Meaning, could you be losing gold as the bigger cobbles fall from above? Or is all the gold trapped way up above?
Ahhh... I hadn't watched quite far enough, tis a slide off the side.
It's a great classifier and yes off the side. Cheers for watching happy hunting. Alicia & Steve.
I don’t know why but that sluice gives me anxiety.
LOL, you and me both.
does your highbank sieve also work with current in the water?
Thanks for watching mate. Check out our latest vid we have it running in the creek.
9:15 I'd run that bucket of cons through the Dream Mat, catching those tailings to go through at home.
By the way, *_LOVE_* that classifier.
Thanks mate, Yes that would work to speed things up.👍
which part of oz guys??
NSW mate.
@@GrotyGold thx! i thought it may be!
Why are you not using a pump
We have a no powered equipment law in our state of NSW. Cheers for watching Vincent.
You have to kiss em before you throw them back
LOL, he will have to remember that for next time. Cheers for watching, Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year, Alicia & Steve
👍👍👍👍👍👑😂🎩
Thankyou and Cheers for watching, Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year, Alicia & Steve
Seems like a Highbanker would work much better than a bucket
It would but are illegal in our state.
Dredges or highbankers?
@@song295 all powered equipment, dredges were banned in Australia in the 1970s and highbankers were banned in 2016 in our state, NSW.
Groty Gold Prospecting O that makes sense probably to get ride of carbon emissions but a high banker probably could be run on a large battery so maybe the law was passed to limit digging?
@@song295 We have seen spots that have been dug out in a big way and rubbish left behind. The powers that be knew how to slow it down and they did. a few bad eggs made it hard for the rest of us.
I love you like u
Why not make a rock dam.......??
That music is awful. Good otherwise on the vid.
Hello I was wondering what Airea are you working in this video...
