Literally the other day I messed up and ran over the edge of the grass at a customer's house by his mailbox. It was a first time customer and he was very upset he ran out and told me to get the hell out of here. I was backing my trailer into a very skinny driveway. Apparently he had just got the grass planted and redone a month prior. Instead of leaving I offered to do it for free to make up for it or pay to fix it which really there wasn't any damage besides a slight inprint from my tire. I think that's when he felt bad Had me do the job, I Went above and beyond and made it look amazing. He ended up paying me what I originally quoted him. And gave me a good review all in all it worked out in the end. But I've definitely never had a customer that mad at me before lol
I give you my detailing tip: Always take a picture of your client car registration card! After I was done detailing a clients car he told me he needs to go to the bank and get cash he never came back!!! Well I had a picture of his car registration. Let’s just say he had a lot of broken windows the next day!! 😉
@@glo5672 It’s called being smart. If anyone does that to my car trust me, I’d make them pay every cent with a lawsuit. I have 2 lawyers in my family so it’s easy.
@@thewiseguy7100 I mean you'd have to have proof it was HIM I don't think he would drive his detailing vehicle to the house with his sticker/add on the side of it and face showing. I also couldn't care less I just thought what you said along with your name was funny.
Man, when I was waiting tables at macaroni grill, the discount coupons like Buy One Get One or a $15 off anything brought out the worst people to eat. They’d complain about virtually anything they could notice, sat on iPhones ignoring each other the whole dinner, picky childish eaters, you name it. I always dreaded the customers desperate for discounts...but like you said sometimes it’s unavoidable!!
Same experience waiting tables back in the day. It was worth it in my mind to give them the same disrespect and forego the lame tip I was going to get anyways.
Awesome story that you shared… and that is something that many of us need to learn, how to be patient and understanding, you said who knows what this guy was going thru, you took that loss, stayed professional… thanks for the video!!!
The worst customer I had was a white suv that had flood damage (hurricane harvey). I just thought the car was dirty, but once i was prepping it i noticed the water lines on the paint. It had beige carpet and you can tell where the water was. not sure how this car passed inspection. smelled weird as well.
Joel. Mario Garcia Garcia's Automotive Detail Down here in Tucson Az You did the right thing. Sometimes you have to walk away. I had a customer ask how much wash ,wax & inside wipe down. Gave price. Then he had the nerve to tell me you better do a good job. Had a smart attitude for everything he said. This guy had a Ranch ,horses $ .I had to bite my tongue considering it was a 45min drive. So I did Job. Then he asked quote for his Douley wk truck quoted him @ $? just to clean the inside & wash. Filty truck. Never heard from him again. Better for me. 2nd time this guy has his HVAC Company. We where doing walk threw on trucks & Ford Continent van the bigg ones. He low balled me 2twice on price even before we did work. I laughed didn't say nothing & walked away. Ridiculous. Some people are unreal with $ & attitudes. The world we live in. Enjoyed your video. Keep up the good work man
I had a customer like that once. Spent 8 hours on 2 vehicles for him, he completely lost his shit over a few small issues (I am partially to blame, I did not fully communicate what my services include or try to gauge his expectations), he completely refused to let me come back and address his complaints. They were pretty minor. I offered twice. The crazy thing is, this was someone I had known for about 20 years. We weren’t close friends but knew a lot of the same people. I think he may have been trying to get some free work. What I don’t understand is why he would do this with someone he knew. If I were trying to rip off a small business, I wouldn’t want to do it with someone I knew, I would be worried about my reputation. I also don’t run promotions anymore, no matter how slow things get. I don’t like the type of people they attract. I think this is true across many industries. I used to work at Express back in college, selling clothes. I wouldn’t call it a high end store but it’s not the same as shopping at Walmart. Whenever there was a big sale, it would attract the worst types of customer.
Those sales had the boxes that would get wrecked ! 😆 I was a visual merchandiser for years so I know how that goes! Promos bring the best out of people don't they !
Great job in the way you handled it! I commend you on keeping your cool! That shows what a great guy you are! I love the comment just pay me what you think it’s worth to you! Great job Bro! 👏
I don't think it gets worse than that kind of customer. Pretty much knowing you do an excellent job, but they want to dull down your work just cuz it is that good
Know your worth and charge your price as agreed never allow any customer tell you how much they gonna pay you, if you did your best and proud of your work then that what it is I’m sure you take before and after video and photos which I will show to the customer of the outcome I never go down on my prices or make any deals with anyone my prices are clear on my website and I always charge a booking fee Thanks for sharing your experience and keep Grinding Brother 😎
Facts my guy some of these ppl do this for a living they go out and get lowball service based businesses espisally after its done lol I would never lower my price because the customer is not happy the work is done and if i feel like i made a difference I’m getting my money and getting out of there
Bro I have a bad experience with a customer that wanted 3 cars done Gave a discount she only wanted basic car wash Then she hit me with u didn't clean the center drinks area... it was only a basic car wash with a vacuum
I would have had the customer take pictures of the inside and if the condition was bad I would decline and save myself a headache. Cheap prices attract cheap people all the time.
Great customers don't look for cheap work. Cheap work=cheap results. If they could do it themselves, why didn't they? Some people are just never satisfied.
2 questions. (1) Did anyone ever post bad remarks about you/service on your marketing and if so, how did u handle it? (2) Did a client ever accuse you of damaging/breaking something and if so, how did you handle that?? Thanks for your response in advance
Only a driveway diva here in UK. But I do think some clients you pros have expect too much. They see all the youtube, Facebook and Instagram pics vids that show a basket case that ends up a peach and expect the same, regardless. Possibly the expected outcome of the detail could be known to the client before things go on too far? Nice vid by the way and like your set up.
That's the world of derailing . You wonder what people are expecting for our hard service . Being a detailer is one of the hardest things because we are providing a good service . Some people don't understand that.. my worst detailing customer was this guy that watched me work the whole time and I messed up because of it
Funny Ive had the same thing before. It was a job I probably shouldn’t have accepted thrashed interior never cleaned for years and the sun was just going down. Guy watched me and stayed around for the full 2 hours. To this day I would say that it is one of the details that I am least happy with.

Then he calls me back the next day dues not like the work. Ok I come and get it and re-clean it for you. But I thinking some not right that gut felling? So i drive out 35min away i made sheer I had the cash on hand. And my tablet recoding. So we go over the truck outside you just dove it in to car wash as he points out some spots. Ok I fix that for you so we a look on the inside he shows me a spot that I somehow sprayed my cleaner and did not see it ok I can fix it up for. In seeing and herring he is just looking to get $$ back so I’m still recoding “I ask so what I see all you are trying is get all this work for free and this was you plane from the being ? “” He go’s YES” Ok hers your cash back we are good and i don’t need to do any more for you got your free clean out of me, and your happy. “He go’s no for all my tribally clean my car for free and then we are good” I told him no not happing and you somewhat coned me out 390.00 we dune and we go are on are way. “No one going to believe you anyway” have a nice day and I left . One of the biggest reasons why I don’t run low ticket specials. They only attract cheap, nit-picky, non repeat clients

A first class detailer, and he handled this customer with integrity and class. Quality, knowledge and skill in all the videos that I have viewed!
Wow, thanks!

Great job brother. Best thing to take the high road.
That quote at the end was spot on man. Ultimately, pricing is what sets those parameters for you when you offer quality work.

Sounds like you handled it perfectly. Great avenue to go down by letting them pay what they felt was the value.
The wash rag on end of pole you used on video can you link the product?
The same people who eat the food at restaurants and then complain so they can eat free 🥴
