Something I didn't notice until a few years ago, the darker belt _is_ actually accurate. For some stupid reason, the logo and belt were always slightly different colours. As I often I do when seeing superhero movie suits, I'm just like, "What were they thinking?!"
Why was it a hot mess? The canopy was the only problem, but I’d rather the flash one be a little different than this new version instead of a straight up rerelease.
Great pick-up. I wish McFarlane would make a civilian version of a Michael Keaton/Bruce Wayne figure and I hope Todd would do a Batman returns version of this figure rumor has it that Todd suppose to be working on the original 89 batwing I hope so.
Not big on the cape (will work up a pleather one) but I like how you show it properly pulled forward and folded over. It sells the figure a lot better to me. Makes him look more movie accurate. Great video! Good review!
I love this 2 pack. It's the first McFarlane item I ever ordered two of. The thing I like about McFarlane is that for the price they put out some solid items. So if that means some compromises need to be made I am cool with that. I just can't afford to be buying the premium figures that other companies make because those come with premium price tags.
Yeah it’s hard for me to hate on the inaccuracies when there not as egregious as some make it out to be. For the price, it’s great. If Mcfarlane charged a premium price for these then that would be different.
As a sewer/costumer AND modeler, I would replace the cape with black lycra or similar fabric, IF you want it to look more accurate and leather/rubber like!
I enjoyed this review. I'm disappointed I couldn't get one for retail while being ready when preorders went live on 7/17; yet this month eBay scalpers had 30+ units for sale.
I loved this review, kudos. I love the backdrop you’re using, it’s identical to the one someone uses for selling figures on Facebook marketplace here in Windsor Ontario Canada. That’s what drew me to watch this review and I’m glad I tuned in. Liking and subscribing right now
I agree with you I like the cloth kiss a lot better than final and you are right that the bond of Cape cod restricts possibility on what's my action figures are on high-end
Logo one the original 89 figures from.the 90s were gold aswell and the belt i still have my toys im 38 now, im 3D printing all the batmans out just now with the nike branding on the boots etc 100% accurate to the first movie these figures are pretty nasty 90s.ones were better
Glad my 2 flash ones were cancelled from EEarth (sucked at the time...and will Not order from them again) but was able to get this the other day when it came back in stick for a short time
The grey canopy version on the first batch batmobile looks cheap I'm glad I waited plus I think the mezco 89 Batman figure looks more realistic plus the mezco version has multiple hands to drive the batmobile this is why I hate about McFarlane figures no extra hands I mostly wanted the batmobile
The movie pack, and this one are only different in the paint. If you look at the movie pack, the bat is YELLOW. This one is gold. I have both. So.. I know. It immediately stood out to me. The belts are 2 different shade of gold. Thanks for the video. LIKED, and new subscriber!
Not a perfect set, wish the guns were on the sides of the body of the car with the fire in the back, as well as accessories for Batman89. But, still an awesome set.
Also I can't for the wwe elite 105 figures to come out all i want is the Scott Steiner figure I wish Mattel would have made the version of Scott Steiner with his signature black spandex pants more less the red version spandex pants "but" I'll take it hopefully we may get it in the second around of his figures in the future hopefully??
Vehicle looks good, but the figure...well, not so much. Wish they'd have made the neck thicker and painted the emblem on his chest correctly. And while I do like the Batmobile, I felt the Batwing was the more iconic vehicle from the film (and McFarlane did a nice one, but I'm not into spending in the hundreds on display pieces - got the LEGO version for $30 instead).
I wish I had a chance but I had to work and missed the pre order. It's a great piece, I have the glossy-gray canopy and the NECA Batman but I really love this McFarlane version, I think it looks different to the 6 pack figure I'd still prefer to have this one. At this point I doubt they do a re-stock and the way they did with this was a huge Fk-you to us, not being available to everybody. Hoping here they somehow, re release this in the future and I get the chance to buy it at retail. #SayNoToScalpersLOL
I would find it hard to believe this Batmobile and Batman wouldn’t get released again. It’s such easy money for Mcfarlane, people would buy them up in an instant.
The centre caps on the batmobile bother me there massive n ugly! Stick out to far they coppied a rebuild of one ive seen with them like that on the originals they don't coem past the outter rim and tyre easy to remove and trim back i suppose but always thought they look to short i used to think it was the front that wasn't long enough but looking at them it seems to be round the rear quarter somewhare jsut more toon like ill have a proper look before may e buying one but some good ones bei g made for 3D printing i lrinted a 1.18 scale ine the other day
The figures are all trash and are an embarrassment to the McFarlane brand. However the gold label batmobile is a massive improvement over the early release.
I wouldn’t say the figures are trash. I believe they’re great for the price point. If McFarlane was charging a premium price for the figs, then I would be singing a different tune.
So basically Todd McFarlane just slapped his name on recycled plastic WOW! thanks Todd...he's gotten lazy over the years or if it's not spawn or sports figures he just goes and reuses the same toy molds changes very little and expects to sell but not before making sure he slapped his name on it 👍The Spin Master RC 1989 with lights sounds smoke opening hood and car turn table display and rechargable battery puts Todd crappy version to straight to the recycling center.
I have both as well, and while they have sentimental value, they truly are not good sets. The figures are way too big for the cars and the GL 89 Batman is just ALL wrong. The cars are decent display props at best.
For the price it’s a solid set. The inaccuracies on the Batman aren’t large enough that it hurts my enjoyment of the figure. It would be nice for the Batmobile to be a 2 seater but I’m sure that would drive up the cost.
@@metaldriverreviews I agree with you 100% on bang for buck. I just think that they should have included downsized (5-6 inch) figures (Vicky vale?) for the set, and put 2 seats in the car. It’s just doesn’t look right at all with the 7 inch figure stuffed in there past the ceiling. Can’t complain too much because Mattel didn’t even bother trying the 89 set the whole time they had the license 🤷🏾♂️
Putting thick rubber capes on an action figure is completely stupid and looks terrible! Like you said, that for statues! But, looks to me they should have used better cloth
The matte finish on the '89 Batmobile makes it look bigger than the glossy Flash one, I dig it.
Something I didn't notice until a few years ago, the darker belt _is_ actually accurate. For some stupid reason, the logo and belt were always slightly different colours. As I often I do when seeing superhero movie suits, I'm just like, "What were they thinking?!"
I looked closer at some pics after reading your comment. And yeah, you’re right, it’s a slight difference but it’s there.
Love that classic Keaton Batman style, tooo sweet!!
Join the club
All I wanted was McFarlane to apologize. The 1st release was a hot mess
Why was it a hot mess? The canopy was the only problem, but I’d rather the flash one be a little different than this new version instead of a straight up rerelease.
Apologize?? LoL for what! Get over yourself snowflake
@@BoogSReviews Err the original was overly glossy black along with flat grey canopy?! The new one looks so much better without the gloss.
Great pick-up. I wish McFarlane would make a civilian version of a Michael Keaton/Bruce Wayne figure and I hope Todd would do a Batman returns version of this figure rumor has it that Todd suppose to be working on the original 89 batwing I hope so.
Keaton Bruce would be awesome.
Yes it would be hey McFarlane/ team are you listening to the fans?

As a sewer/costumer AND modeler, I would replace the cape with black lycra or similar fabric, IF you want it to look more accurate and leather/rubber like!
Where did you get that custom cape for the neca batman
I would have preferred if they did the neck articulation at the bottom of the neck like they did for the Hush Batman. Looks good enough regardless.
Yeah, that would’ve been better.

The gold is to look the kenner figure, it's just a non - mainline version of what we already got just with kenner deco.
Great episode. But where's the 89 Batwing?
The canopy doesn’t look right, but this looks really sick
Thanks! We need an armadillo armoured version
The car looks all right. I don’t hate it, however I don’t like the canopy/cover. Cool enough to add to a collection though. Good review thank you.
This figure has way more movement then the actual suit. I have the mezco and Neca. But want this one too. I think it looks great. Great review.
Love soft good capes. I have loved them since i was a kid on my super powers and kenner batman figures
The batmobile wasn't actually matte. It was a kind of satin with a finish like a beetle shell
Yeh... I wondered why no card was included when I recieved the new item in Oct 2023 🤔 (I purchaded it in UK, Jul 2023)
Just bought this I had the og 89 Batmobile back in 96
the windows in the canopy are too big .. why is no one acknowledging this?
You can get the CAG upgrade for $20
I'd love to show you my version of the mcfarlane 89 batmobile!
I agree with you I like the cloth kiss a lot better than final and you are right that the bond of Cape cod restricts possibility on what's my action figures are on high-end

The mezco version goes great with this.
I agree with you the 89 mezco Batman version is a much better scale. now we need the 89 batwing McFarlane/team are you listening?

the windshield is still too big, looks weird

You can order that Ramen Toys
How much???

Where did you see the rumour for Batman returns figure?
I might’ve seen it in a forum. Can’t remember which one.
Got this mafk for 65 today!!!

@@metaldriverreviews I have the feeling that the Batmobile will see a rerelease with a Batman Returns body, write that I said it today
Perhaps gold painted features cuz it's a gold label release. Seems reasonable.
Glossy is better. More 90s toy nostalgia.

It’s so under scaled, Todd’s figures always suck . It’s articulation sucks , it’s a movable statue . Look so cheap
Just gonna say it, the NECA 7 inch version is MUCH better and it looks exactly like MK.
