Excellent video! This is why, when the news talks about the economy and how many people are living "paycheck to paycheck," it doesn't mean anything. For many it means, "I spend it all every payday on goodies, eating out and my girlfriend," or it could mean "After paying my rent, utilities, car payment and credit card bill, I have zero." The latter could be living in an efficiency apartment and living on ramen noodles. "Paycheck to paycheck only refers to what is coming in, not what is going out. There are those who cannot wait for their checks to be deposited before they are at the local convenience store buying a fist full of scratch off tickets with their six pack and a carton of cigarettes.
True I use to be guilty of doing that exact thing once I cut back and started being frugal I’m saving even finding money in my pocket when I go to the laundromat
If have been saying this for years. It's personal accountability and responsibility. Before I can look at external factors I have to ensure that I am doing everything possible that is within control. If I am not, I have no one to be mad at but myself.
@@ReggieBryant I make good money but have had poor spending habits. Everything you said in this video is true! I have had to do a lot work on myself to fix my circumstances.
Another to stop living paycheck to paycheck is save up your money and purchase a use car instead of a brand new car that will save you about 5K to 6K a year from car payment
You are absolutely correct I’m a auto mechanic I always brought used cars for no more than $5,000 I decide to purchase a brand new back in 2018 had the car for 4 now. I will never ever, ever buy a brand new car ever I can afford the payment but now when I pay that note I’m like man you can be investing that $500 a month into something that’s gonna generate more money
I don’t even make enough money to “cut back” literally 2 days after every paycheck its back to “survival mode” for the next 2 weeks 🤦🏾♂️ never ending cycle
I ended up mowing yards on the side when I'm not at my full-time job and I try to get as much overtime as they'll let me. Is it easy? Absolutely not but I'm able to put back $50-$75 a week back for savings and slowly knocking out debt.
I ended up reaching little goals like saving at least $5 every week. It’s small but it’s works because sometimes it’ll be saving more than $5 but Ik I didn’t get paid much at the time, I told myself $5, then I asked myself why because Ik that if I save ion think about why I’m doing this then spend on food 🤣I ended up getting a raise got a better pay but I still have that little goal so I don’t spend to the point I reach 0 🤣
Great content man! This seems to be a huge problem for the us citizens rn! I believe everyone should Live below their means" adjust your lifest, be frugal, budget, save and invest. This helped me out as a 6 figure earner. I've grown over a million in retirement savings with this method
Don't panic, start out easy, don't buy things you don't need, budget every money, always save a portion of your pay atleast 5%, Invest from your pay check; it grows and helps you accumulate wealth easily.
read books, gain the knowledge set out a plan or target goal to reach. Get a pro financial expert lead you; follow consistently. You can also build a passive income channel from your investment.
Sometimes all it takes is to cut back on expenses, even small ones that you think are minimal at the time, but add up over time and also finding ways to increase income. I've learned over time that your mindset matters most when you are struggling. If you think you'll never be able to pay all your bills, then you won't put in the time or effort to alleviate that stress. I'm a victim of cc debt, so I know how it feels to not be able to pay your bills on time. It's difficult when the income is low. I'm a mom of 2 with a great partner who has the majority of the bills, but I still struggle trying to pay the small bills I have along with buying stuff for my children. I understand the stress. I'm on part time income because I know flexibility matters more than anything to me, so I feel I am making a sacrifice for my children but I still want to keep enough disposable income for other kinds of expenses. I watched your video and I am inspired by your positive attitude. I think that's the first step in building your finances. It is to first establish an attitude that keeps you motivated to keep moving forward. Setting goals and realizing you can make things happen can be daunting but it's very possible. I would recommend anyone reading my story to take baby steps that don't involve money. Get a good exercise in at the gym, eat a healthy meal at least once per day, and find a good therapist if you can afford it. I'm listening to my own advice at the moment btw, so you're not alone.
I hope Reggie answers your question, but I thought maybe I could make suggestions. Usually disability allows you to make a certain amount without starting to deduct money from your check. Talk to them and see if you are allowed to make any more money. If your physical status is what you are referring to that keeps you from making more money, you can work from home. If you have a phone, you can work for any number of small, privately owned companies (think in terms of an exterminator, or a lawn care company) for follow up calls to old customers to see if they need anything and see how the last visit worked out for them. You can do this for as many companies as want you to do it. If you offer to work on commission and only get paid for new requests for services, you can schedule your own time and efforts, and they don't have you on a payroll until you give them new business. I did this for a medical supply company and made a ton of money, but not as an employee with all the obligations and tax withholding, etc. Call it "bird dogging." My son has someone who does this for him in the junk car business. He makes a percentage of every junk car the owner wants removed. He is on disability, but the money allows him to live.
Start a business use your mind.. but when you say you can't that means you can't u need to say you can and find a way .. start selling plates of food.. learn how to sew and sell clothes there's always A WAY
There are jobs available now where you can work from home if you have a computer. Not knowing what your disability is, it's difficult to comment. I wish you the best and pray that God will lead you to a job that will work best for your current situation. Take care!
McDonalds is paying $15 an hour. If you want to get out of living paycheck to paycheck get a part-time job at McDonald's and just save it for 6 months. 20 hrs x$15 an hour is $300 a week. That's $1200 a month which will total $7,200 in 6 months. This strategy is tried and tested I had a full time job and the opportunity presented itself to be a partime caregiver for a family member. It was like 3 hrs a day four day a week and it paid $14 and hour so I'm like cool. I ended up making like $7,000 that wasn't alot of money but it was alot of money. That opened my mind now I'm save $1000 a week. I realize the truck is to work a full time and a partime and live all the full time money and save the partime money. I been doing this for 3 yrs now and I save 29k. I have become a saver. Saving and investing is the key to having money in the future.

You are a young man... so you will suggest that someone destroy their health.... in an effort to effect short-term changes in their finances... many of the people that you are talking to... are already experiencing burnout on their jobs
I'm not living paycheck to paycheck, but I will admit since covid came through, 2021 thru 2023 has hurt my monthly commission bonus terribly due to a slowdown in business. I had 4 great years under Trump and built my HYSA up to $125K. I had to dip into my savings when my wife had breast cancer and I had to pay $30K out of pocket for chemo & radiation treatments. Luckily I still have $100K left, but I'll be glad when the economy improves. I miss my $2K bonus check per month, along with my regular paycheck.

I refuse to eat that fried ramen noodle trash, but I agree with everyone you said. Except cooking is too time consuming, I get by on frozen food.
Omg! I needed to hear this!!! Thank you!
And I hear people talking about paycheck to paycheck living..... but not many people defining just what that is...
Barely having enough to pay your bills for the month, till the next paycheck
I know a lot of people who make decent money ,they just have a spending problem.
