    ============
Thank you to Randy's parents, Harold and Alberta Leach for their support in bringing us into their family to help find Randy here in Linwood, KS to help bring him home.
Of course, our efforts would not be possible without Larry and Betty Wilson, along with their daughter Elizebeth. Thank you!
In this episode of Adventures with Purpose, we travel to Linwood, Kansas from Oregon in search of Randy Leach who has been missing for 32-years.
    Missing Since: 04/15/1988
    Missing From: Linwood, Kansas
    Classification Non-Family Abduction
    Sex: Male
    Race: White
    Date of Birth: 07/25/1970 (50)
    Age: 17 years old
Height and Weight: 6'3, 220 pounds
Clothing/Jewelry Description: A blue pocket t-shirt, blue Levi's jeans, white low-cut sneakers and white socks.
Distinguishing Characteristics: Caucasian male. Brown hair, blue eyes. Randy has a mole on his left ear.
On April 16, 1988, Harold and Alberta Leach of Linwood, Kansas reported the disappearance of their son, Randy Wayne Leach, to the Leavenworth County Sheriff's Department.
Subsequent investigation determined that Leach was last seen in the early morning hours of April 16, 1988, at a high school pre-graduation party given by a classmate in rural Leavenworth County, Kansas.
Leach had driven to the party in his mother's gray 1985 Dodge 600 4-door sedan.
During the course of the investigation, no one was located who saw Leach or his vehicle leave the party.
To date, neither Leach nor his vehicle has been located.
The investigation to date has produced sufficient information to believe that Leach has been the victim of foul play in this missing person case.
The deeper we got into this investigation, the stranger it became.
Was Randy part of a sacrifice?
Was he taken out for witnessing a drug shipment gone wrong?
Did he end up in the trunk of his mother's car and driven across state lines to be disposed of in a car shredder?
Is there a police cover-up in this small rural community?
While we feel there are people who know what happened to Randy, there also is a reason they have not come forward.
Even though Harold and Alberta would like to find out who is responsible for Randy's disappearance, the only thing they want more is to find Randy.
Larry and Betty have set up a FB Page in Search of Randy Leach.

This is definitely a cover up. Randy Leach is a name that we know all too well around here. The PD is still cautious when Randy is brought up. In this area, you have 100's upon 1000's of acres of woods as well as the river and surrounding ponds to keep in mind. God Bless the Leach's and you all for hearing their call. Hopefully the family and those in the community are able to get the closure that is needed.

This is just so sad:(. During the last scene, while they're sitting down to dinner, you can see Randy's pictures on the front of the kitchen cabinets & all over. These poor people have lived almost their entire lives wondering what happened to their child & searching for him. They have never had any peace & that's just so sad. They never got to xperience their son going off & then graduating from college, or getting married & having children, all of the things that the rest of us parents get to enjoy. These kind & gracious people didn't deserve this. Life is just so unfair sometimes:(

I'm sure there is a story there to be told. I think law enforcement in that town is hiding a lot of there own criminal activity. The Fire department included. Somehow this investigation would have exposed them. A graduation party in a small town would have been known about by many. For what ever reason I think the law was in on the drug delivery that day. Could have been a case of Randy knowing too much. His grandma's brother is a , or was a cop in another town. He should try to get a leak down the line from another cop. The cops don't want to spend time and money searching for someone when they already know where he is.

It's police/sheriff's like this that really give police a bad reputation. The good old boys network should be dismantled. I strongly believe that 99% of the police in this country are good and fair people, but when things like this are going on, it slowly erodes the trust and respect that the public has given to the force. I sincerely hope that someone steps forward and helps this family out. Crazy that I live 20 minutes from all this. There’s another case Jack Shultz that has been missing from Desoto Kansas for over 30 years. My fellow cross country team runs on a route named 95th and edgerton. That’s where jack used to live. This is where we run our long runs at. If you run far enough you can make it into Linwood or Eudora. My dad was a former police officer and worked on the cold case. One morning jack slept on the couch and his dad heard a honk at 5 am. Someone picked up jack and he never returned. People said that they saw him at a party the next night. Could he have been at party as Randy? My dad brought cadaver dogs and drained one of the ponds on this route. There was nothing. To this day the case is cold. And from what I know they didn’t even try on this case. Basically just gave up.

Decades ago, my brother was the unofficial leader of a group that was involved in small time drug dealing. It came to pass that if my brother said something about someone or something that he liked or disliked, a corresponding action would occur soon after. Examples: They were at a bar in a different state and he said he absolutely loved the bar top. Month later when he came back from a trip, that bar was in his house. Another time he made comments about a guy that was being a real &$$&)#@ to him. A week later that guy was "mugged" and ended up in the hospital in critical condition.
So, just because this guy said he didn't do it, doesn't mean his friends didn't.

The comment of Flanagan about not being as angry as he was (when he killed his girlfriend) in over 30 years has so much weight to it. That’s more than enough to warrant an interview, and Police could play psychological tricks on Flanagan by saying “we now have enough evidence to get you a further life sentence, however the jail term will be reduced if you tell us where to find Randy”. Flanagan thinking he’s making a plea when his comment indicates that the guilt is still a burden now, needs added pressure to get the answers.

Having worked several times in that area of the midwest in the late 80's it was a time of a pretty bad drought and for the most part many of the ancillary waterways and creeks feeding into the Kansas River were exceptionally low, so much so that many could easily be walked across, and a car accidently going into the water even settling on the bottom would have had at least the roof or more of the car showing. The more likely place where a car would have gone in and sunk would have been the Kansas River itself, which actually was worked with dredging barges over those years to make sure that the waterway was kept navigable. It would not have been as often or as well dredges as the Mississippi of course, but most likely the entire river was kept deep enough that that a car could submerge, and because of the dredging, even very gently sloped banks would have fallen off suddenly because of the work done by a barge when it came through, meaning that a vehicle even at moderate speed running into the water would have had a pretty sudden downhill ride to nearly the center of the channel. I contacted a friend back in Kansas who works with the environmental division of the state who said that the Kansas River was dredged its length yearly during the drought years and for two years after to make sure it was able to handle the water without flooding. The way the dredging worked its possible that if they hit something like a large rock or a car that they could not lift up, they would just push it back towards the bank of knock it loose so that it moved down river. In most cases they never identified large items they pushed out of the way an so would not tell a car from a large tree trunk, or boulder but logged it as having moved and obstacle.
Agricultural ponds would have also been at pretty low level, not only from lack of rainfall but because that was stored water used during that time for agricultural watering. Most ponds became almost completely drained before the drought broke, so again, might have been hard to hide a car in one.
However, hiding a body in the waterways of that area or a deeper pond might have been relatively easy and having had the car chopped up and sold for metal or parts may have been why it never turned up. That area was pretty well known for having illegal chop shops set up on abandoned or rented property

I have another theory after watching videos and reading the comments. The car was likely destroyed. I do not think it is in any waterway. If a crime took place and there were drug runners in the county there were likely car thieves. They may have crushed that car or they may have instead sent that car to a chop shop. All the parts would have been dismantled quickly and used to rebuild stolen cars. It would have been driven to another county or state. Between the pigs for removal of the body and a chop shop to dismantle the car the evidence would have disappeared as it seems it has. There is obviously a cover-up. If Randy was drugged he was drugged for a reason. Why did he disappear from the girl's car that he was in? Why did someone load something into the trunk of Randys mothers vehicle. And "no" for those people who asked, he did not have a red mustang. His mom had a gray sedan of some sort. His Mustang that he was getting for graduation was in the shop. During the 1970's and 1980's people would slip drugs to others for all types of reasons and it happened a lot. Whether or not Randy just died from a drug OD or whether he was drugged for other criminal reasons is one of the big mysteries of the story. Whatever happened, there has to be a cover up over his death for so many people to know so many little details but no one can get to the big picture.

Jared, Sam, and Dan are truly special for jumping in to help as much as possible. Your videos keep getting better and better so keep up the good work! Only have one small criticism....Dan, you should have removed your hat while in the Leach home as a sign of respect. To people their age it matters. I realize you're young and probably didn't realize but try to keep it in mind in the future. Love you guys!
