While you were away, I found my first Denim and Flower shirt! ( I am have squealed.) Almost as exciting, the store was having a sale, $5 to fill a brown paper grocery bag with clothing. Needless to say, I had a blast: 11 shirts, plus some items hubs and I will wear: 4 pristine tees, including one with a cute Ben & Jerry's motif, and a pair of summer jammy pants. That's 32 cents per item; absurd.
My heart broke a little bit when you passed on that bordeaux shirt with the polka dots. 🙂
Thank you for sharing. I went to a consignment store, end of December sale, mens shirts marked down to 50 cents. Found 5 cotton shirts.
Good to see you! Too funny, I went thrifting today and came home with four 100% cotton Hawaiian shirts to add to my Hawaiian collection. Can't wait to figure out what to do with them... soon!
As a thrifter I would have thought you knew that it's best to shop for the opposite season. When it's cold EVERYONE is shopping for flannel so there won't be much. When it's warm EVERYONE is shopping for linen (if they like it) so there won't be much. Shop out of season and you'll find lots and for cheaper prices. Supply and demand--fundamental principle.
I finally went thrift shopping for men’s shirts and now I know why you like quilting with that fabric. I found myself “petting” the shirts as I walked by them. They feel so wonderful. Thanks for all you do. And Paul does a great job with the camera and supporting everything you do.
Cathy! Cathy! Cathy! So good to see you again!!! Lots going on! I’m thrilled to your sweet face again. “Don’t always seem to go that you don’t know what you have till it’s gone?” I’ll be on the lookout for flannel at my local thrift store where ALL mens shirts are $2.50. ❤ Welcome Home!
Always fun to go with you to the thrift store. That burgundy polka dot shirt would make an amazing inner border on a blue & white quilt! I love the 'pop' of an unexpected band of color (yes, I was dragged, kicking & screaming out of my comfort zone & now go for the 'pop'). I too, just pieced out my first Denim & Flower shirt & ever so carefully removed those marvelous linings to add to my next scrappy quilt. Keep up the great work!
Your crop top and skirt shirt is actually a fisherman's shirt, made that way to allow air flow.
Thanks for taking us shopping today. You were quite successful and I’m curious about and looking forward to hearing about what you’re making in upcoming videos. Happy and healthy new year Martin family. ❤️
I’m gunna need you to send me that green plaid shortsleeve for my husband’s closet. 😊
So much fun going thrifting with you. I’m almost ready to make a quilt with shirts, I have a huge stash of yardage .
Great to have you back.
Good morning! People who walk by like that aren't having as much fun as you are. Lol
I love these videos; you're such a joy to follow around.
I always find what I need for winter in summer and vise versa 😂
I went thrift shopping the other day and a most of the good shirts had polyester or spandex. I didn't buy any. There was a gray XXL cotton that had tiny hammers on it, but I didn't want to pay 6.50 for shirt I might not use. They priced it 12.96 and it was half off day. I think their prices are too high though. I always enjoy your thrifting videos. ❤
I just love thrifting..as a Canadian I would love to come to Alabama to thrift shop there.. ❤
Lastol, elastane, lycra, spandex .. all mean stretchy. I would prefer cotton polyester fabric to cotton lycra fabric because the polyester blend will be less stretchy than the lycra blend.
The time to look for flannel is Summer, because right now everybody is wearing their flannel to dress out or to sleep as PJs.
