I remember waking up in my highschool years, turning the TV on and this song was playing!! This happened almost everyday :') I miss MTV in those days, when they actually played MUSIC videos.
Such an under-appreciated album. Relistening now in my 30s, and damn, I didn't even realize what great stuff I was dancing to as a teenager. She was so ahead of her time in so many ways. Talking about media BS, authenticity, cultural appropriation, sexism, self-confidence, representation and all those important things way back in 2003. A true icon that will stand the test of time.
It was and is one of my favorites songs, but now I am 34 years old I can understand and feel the lyric. Life can be so different as we dreamed one day and that reality is so hard. But if you have a good partner you have to fight and live life as good as possible. Love you Nelly!!!!!
Nelly Furtado - Try All I know Is everything is not as it's sold But the more I grow the less I know And I have lived so many lives Though I'm not old And the more I see, the less I grow The fewer the seeds the more I sow Then I see you standing there Wanting more from me And all I can do is try Then I see you standing there Wanting more from me And all I can do is try, try I wish I hadn't seen all of the realness And all the real people are really not real at all The more I learn the more I learn The more I cry the more I cry As I say goodbye to the way of life I thought I had designed for me Then I see you standing there Wanting more from me And all I can do is try Then I see you standing there I'm all I'll ever be But all I can do is try Oh, try, try, try All of the moments that already passed We'll try to go back and make them last All of the things we want each other to be We never will be, we never will be And that's wonderful, and that's life And that's you, baby This is me, baby And we are, we are, we are, we are We are, we are Free In our love We are free in our love Try.

I've been listening to this song for 10 years, it's my favourite song of all time. I was a loner as a child. I suffered and recovered from depression, and I'm dealing with loneliness. I'm still alive. All I can do is try.
Ah...yes I've gone through that loner period in my life. It sucks big time but it can give you something those socialites don't have, time. Use it and grow 2 brains :) By time, things get better especially if you are willingly to try from different angles.
Same here ! This song expresses how I feel many times. I hope you're better, being alone sometimes could be something good. It helps you to get to know yourself.
I am able to identify and relate to what you experienced, and my solemn advice to you is that search for God(Allah) as he is the Most Beneficient and Most Merciful- seek the divine help of the Lord of the Worlds (heavens and the earth and whatever is in between) to guide you in this transient(temporary world).... May Allah (The absolute and only God) bless you whenever you are and whatever you seek to do in this temporary life....
You need to receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour. He is the only One who can take away the pain. I have been through so many moments like that in my life. I was only completed when I received the Lord Jesus. Now that pain is a thing of the past. Jesus is my friend now!
LYRICS: All I know Is everything is not as it seems But the more I grow the less I know And I have lived so many lives Though I'm not old And the more I see, the less I grow The fewer the seeds the more I sow Then I see you standing there Wanting more from me And all I can do is try Then I see you standing there Wanting more from me And all I can do is try Try I wish I hadn't seen all of the realness And all the real people, are really not real at all The more I learn, the more I learned The more I cry the more I cried As I say goodbye to the way of life I thought I had designed for me Then I see you standing there Wanting more from me And all I can do is try Then I see you standing there I'm all I'll ever be And all I can do is try, Try All of the moments that already passed already passed We'll try to go back and make them last All of the things we want each other to be We never will be, we never will be And that's wonderful, that's life That's you baby This is me baby We are, we are, we are, we are, we are, we are Free In our love We are free in our love Try

Hoy no me importa nada, no quiero a nadie, solo quisiera volver a verla, decirle tantas cosas
All I know Is everything is not as it's sold but the more I grow the less I know And I have lived so many lives Though I'm not old And the more I see, the less I grow The fewer the seeds the more I sow Then I see you standing there Wanting more from me And all I can do is try Then I see you standing there Wanting more from me And all I can do is try I wish I hadn't seen all of the realness And all the real people are really not real at all The more I learn the more I cry As I say goodbye to the way of life I thought I had designed for me Then I see you standing there Wanting more from me And all I can do is try Then I see you standing there I'm all I'll ever be But all I can do is try Try All of the moments that already passed We'll try to go back and make them last All of the things we want each other to be We never will be And that's wonderful, and that's life And that's you, baby This is me, baby And we are, we are, we are, we are Free In our love We are free in our love
This song is like wine: it gets better by aging. Btw I find it amazing how a song can be interpreted in so many ways and change meaning when you get older. I personally think we won't ever understand completely this song, because every time we listen to it we automatically learn something new from it. The power of music.
I was barely in high school when this song came out and I always thought it was very beautiful (and so was the video). Now I'm 30 and the lyrics really hot me differently after everything I've gone through growing up, I hadn't paid attention to the lyrics until now and they made me cry. Truly a great song.
We will miss this generation of beautiful divas: Natalia Imbruglia, Soraya, Alanis Morissette, Mandy Moore and Nelly Furtado, and more. 0% sexual video, 0% twerking, 0% Kardashian 100% talent 100 % lyrics.
Nelly was already so wise far beyond her years at suchba young age. Yet she was also so in touch with the pulse of the moment. I loved her early work so much.
At the end.. when she says this is who we are... and it's wonderful... makes all my skin shake. One of my favorites love songs of all time. Listening it since I was 13 years old and still!
+Donald Simmons No good artist gets good without a little bad notes, she will learn from it and she will become even better, she's awesome, so don't worry.
By watching her videos, I realized I miss Nelly Furtado's music. I like making covers, and I'd love covering this. People always tell me I should cover Justin Bieber's new song, or Ariana Grande's and so on. I mean, you can like them, fine, but they just don't give me what songs like this one give me. So even if it means less views, at least the emotions are real. Isn't that what really counts, at the end of the day? Sorry, I wanted to share this with people who can probably understand me, since they're here too. :)
true , it dosen't matter if the song is new or old , what really matters is the connection you feel with it , i'd love to hear your cover of this one . even though my fav is I'm like a bird
How come anybody not know about this song before that book? I remember seen this video on Mtv the first time and it instanly became one of my favorite songs of Nelly F. I think is my favorite, the whole Cd is just sooo good. I love Nelly she's so great and she sings in spanish a lot.
Because most people who think 50 shades of gray is a great book are probably not older than 15 (because it's a big steaming turd of a book, but you don't realise that if you've never read any other book) and weren't around when this was first released. Unlike the book, this song is beautifully written (and sung).
@@crusaderflo1965 can't find any interview where she says it. Only that promotion at that pop album was too demanding and she didn't like producers working on her image. Nothing about music itself.

This is a real voice, this is music, this culture. I love Nelly !
Nelly I hope you see this! I saw an interview of her saying that after hours of performing she would sit alone in her hotel room and look at the floor, feeling like a fraud thinking that people liked her more for her image, rather than her music. I grew up in a very religious home and was only allowed to watch the music videos where people were dressed modestly and not talking about sex and drugs. I remember watching “I’m like a bird” and beaming with happiness that someone famous looked like me, all because you had a long modest skirt. You made me feel less out of the club by showing ur voice, not your body. So I hope you read this one day and see that it’s exactly the opposite. Your music has soul that creates its own image. It was never about your looks or how your label tried to sell you, it was always about you nelly, not your labels perception of you. Ps. This song had 10 year old me letting her emotion out (grew up in a war and lost many close people). I couldn’t connect to kids songs or “adult” songs, but you felt like peace.
It's really beautiful to read your words in 2023... This song and the clip really has that reject modernity, embrace tradition vibe. I'm from Portugal and from time to time I also come back to this song, feels good. Hope everything good comes to you in your life
like Bruno before me said: it's really nice to read you, 2023 still..but almost over..peace to you and everyone, let's hope we'll get there finally and soon!
I agree with Adi, this song is so special. It's not a happy song, but a true-about-life song. Sadness is part of our lives too... It's also brings sadness to get remembered by older days when we were younger and maybe happier.
Didn't I just say that I was *deeply saddened* by the fact that people associate it with the books/movie? Meaning that I actually like the song and hate the fact that E.L. James decided to ruin it by adding it to her slush pile trash? So much so that it makes me weep for creativity?

All I know
Is everything is not as it's sold
But the more I grow the less I know
And I have lived so many lives
Though I'm not old
And the more I see, the less I grow
The fewer the seeds the more I sow
Then I see you standing there
Wanting more from me
And all I can do is try
Then I see you standing there
Wanting more from me
And all I can do is try, try
I wish I hadn't seen all of the realness
And all the real people are really not real at all
The more I learn the more I learn
The more I cry the more I cry
As I say goodbye to the way of life
I thought I had designed for me
Then I see you standing there
Wanting more from me
And all I can do is try
Then I see you standing there
I'm all I'll ever be
But all I can do is try
Oh, try, try, try
All of the moments that already passed
We'll try to go back and make them last
All of the things we want each other to be
We never will be, we never will be
And that's wonderful, and that's life
And that's you, baby
This is me, baby
And we are, we are, we are, we are

Great analysis. I love that you read into as much as I do, it's such an amazing meaningful song.
My interpretation of the chorus, is rather than it being a relationship, it's her audience or producers or parents. And the bit about you and me is talking about her and us as humanity.
But that's what is so beautiful about music, is you can take it for what it means to you as an individual.

You need to receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour. He is the only One who can take away the pain. I have been through so many moments like that in my life. I was only completed when I received the Lord Jesus. Now that pain is a thing of the past. Jesus is my friend now!
LYRICS:
All I know
Is everything is not as it seems
But the more I grow the less I know
And I have lived so many lives
Though I'm not old
And the more I see, the less I grow
The fewer the seeds the more I sow
Then I see you standing there
Wanting more from me
And all I can do is try
Then I see you standing there
Wanting more from me
And all I can do is try
Try
I wish I hadn't seen all of the realness
And all the real people, are really not real at all
The more I learn, the more I learned
The more I cry the more I cried
As I say goodbye to the way of life
I thought I had designed for me
Then I see you standing there
Wanting more from me
And all I can do is try
Then I see you standing there
I'm all I'll ever be
And all I can do is try,
Try
All of the moments that already passed already passed
We'll try to go back and make them last
All of the things we want each other to be
We never will be, we never will be
And that's wonderful, that's life
That's you baby
This is me baby
We are, we are, we are, we are, we are, we are
Free
In our love
We are free in our love

“Everything is not as it seems” should be “everything is not as it’s sold”. Otherwise, good.
she didn't need to check it cus it was striking

Hoy no me importa nada, no quiero a nadie, solo quisiera volver a verla, decirle tantas cosas
Are you watching this in 2023? It's okay, you're not the only one.

This song was N#1 in Chile in July 2004
The perfect song for this Quarentine. jumping back to my 20's...
This song is so purely beautiful.
She never forgets her roots shows it through her videos or sound in music ❤️
Of everything I know about her music, for me, this is the absolute masterpiece.
This song is like wine: it gets better by aging. Btw I find it amazing how a song can be interpreted in so many ways and change meaning when you get older. I personally think we won't ever understand completely this song, because every time we listen to it we automatically learn something new from it. The power of music.
NOW STOP IT!
How is this song soo criminally underrated??
Folklore was and remains Nelly Furtado’s best album and body of work ever!
This is one of most beautiful music video that I have seen.
I was barely in high school when this song came out and I always thought it was very beautiful (and so was the video). Now I'm 30 and the lyrics really hot me differently after everything I've gone through growing up, I hadn't paid attention to the lyrics until now and they made me cry. Truly a great song.
@@mikee1000 31, to be precise. The song came out in 2003, I was 14 then.
This song never gets old. No matter how much I listen to it, I never get bored and always will be one of my favourite songs!
We will miss this generation of beautiful divas: Natalia Imbruglia, Soraya, Alanis Morissette, Mandy Moore and Nelly Furtado, and more. 0% sexual video, 0% twerking, 0% Kardashian 100% talent 100 % lyrics.
The right words. Amen.
0% Kardashian HAHAHAHAHAHA 🤣😂
why do you think tweaking doesn’t require talent???
@@LeticiaLima-fj7gz shuut upp
@@LeticiaLima-fj7gz Well I guess everything requires talent now

My favorite song of all time...so meaningful... Please come back Nelly..
This whole album is an absolute masterpiece
“All of the moments that already passed...I try to go back and make them last” - those lyrics have always pierced my heart in the deepest way 💔🖤⚔️
hmm. i want to forget so much tho. sry, weird how it's different. :)
Fifty Shades Darker brought me here daayum "Does it mean Christian's going to try?"
"We are free in our love". This simple line won me over.
beautiful
Nelly was already so wise far beyond her years at suchba young age. Yet she was also so in touch with the pulse of the moment. I loved her early work so much.
"All of things we want eachother to be. We never will be. And that's wonderful." ❤
At the end.. when she says this is who we are... and it's wonderful... makes all my skin shake.
One of my favorites love songs of all time. Listening it since I was 13 years old and still!
Nell'anno 2003.
where are you Nelly? we need your music babe!
+Donald Simmons really/? great news ;')
+Donald Simmons No good artist gets good without a little bad notes, she will learn from it and she will become even better, she's awesome, so don't worry.
Donald Simmons Great
backlash, they are not real fans, I liked her new album. People need to do new stuff, they will never progress especially an artist like Nelly.
Absolutely
Mi época de colegio, que nostalgia.
I came here because I love this song; not because of Fifty Shades of Bull Shit.
One of my favourite songs by her
😂😂😂
Amazing woman!
Ah the early 2000s. Nelly was my crush when everybody else wanted Britney Spears and such. I never understood what they found so amazing about her...
I always prefer Nelly so beautiful
I think both people are beautiful :)
They both brought joy to my life through their music.
Everyone has their own taste.
I love nelly but come on Britney is also great!!!
Britney only look good from 2000 to 2004, Nelly has always looked amazing.
You go ahead and play the songs that touch your heart :)
true , it dosen't matter if the song is new or old , what really matters is the connection you feel with it , i'd love to hear your cover of this one . even though my fav is I'm like a bird
hey, go on and play the songs you really like. I love guys like you.

Just in case you missed it like I did. Didn't even know about this until today and it came out in April.
omg i totally understand this... artists these days are just singing about loosing their phone and girl friends and stuff!
Fifty shades darker brought me here hehe
me too!
Me too .. LOLz
Same!! listening to this while rereading 50 shades darker for like the gazzillion times..:)
Jeanne Jeyn lol me too
Nelly furtado is one the best innovative Singer and this song is very Awesome "Try"
Yep another favorite one for me is "say it right"
Mine was Turn Off the Light.. xD
This is her true masterpiece. Video is superior to all her others too. Anyone know who the director is?
+Il Filmaniaco Sophie Muller I think
Thanks
+Il Filmaniaco It really is, shame that she disappeared after that.
The director is Sophie Muller. She also directed "Turn off the Light".
Funny, bc the first time I watched Gwen's new video, Misery, I was like 'wow, this reminds me so much to Try music video'. Thanks for the info!
I'm on a "I liked those songs, but had no idea what they were saying" marathon.
This was her masterpiece
agreeee
I was shocked when I discovered it's the same singer who did all this generic pop shit later maneater etc
@@sayianin she said it herself, that some songs were a mistake and she's not proud of them
@@crusaderflo1965 can't find any interview where she says it. Only that promotion at that pop album was too demanding and she didn't like producers working on her image. Nothing about music itself.
This is a real voice, this is music, this culture. I love Nelly !
Totally agree..
Semper fi
It's really beautiful to read your words in 2023... This song and the clip really has that reject modernity, embrace tradition vibe. I'm from Portugal and from time to time I also come back to this song, feels good. Hope everything good comes to you in your life
like Bruno before me said: it's really nice to read you, 2023 still..but almost over..peace to you and everyone, let's hope we'll get there finally and soon!
This Song is as devastating After a break up as it is inspiring when you are in a new relationship

This song didn't get the love it deserved when it came out. Still here in 'almost' 2023 loving this tune.
Whenever I need a good cry, this song will do it for me. 😅
The best song of this girl
indeed
Portugal loves you thank you Nelly !!!! ❤❤❤
I used to listen to this like 10 or more years ago on MTV, it brings so many feelings and memories, I feel kind of sad, I don't know why.
it's not just ya mate ..there's something with this song..
I agree with Adi, this song is so special. It's not a happy song, but a true-about-life song. Sadness is part of our lives too... It's also brings sadness to get remembered by older days when we were younger and maybe happier.
The fact that this beautiful song is now associated with 50 Shades deeply saddens me.
SHUT UP THIS IS A CLASIC SONG GET OUT YOU AND YOU R STUPID MOVIE
Didn't I just say that I was *deeply saddened* by the fact that people associate it with the books/movie? Meaning that I actually like the song and hate the fact that E.L. James decided to ruin it by adding it to her slush pile trash? So much so that it makes me weep for creativity?
Kitty Grimm sorry, i love you.
Kitty Grimm same thin with sex on fire for me its like seriously. Shitty writer had to make up for her terrible writing somehow i guess
Its not introduced till the second book
Come here when Forklore is still commonly known as an album name of Nelly Furtado
Yeah this will always be the original ''Folklore'' to me. Not Taylor's album.
@@tmla they're both great though
Conclusion: Name an album Folklore and it'll be good
Both Nelly's and Taylor's Folklore are amazing.
